CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 391: Chapter 399: Unless I Am Crazy

Jane Sampson huffed at James Black, who was busy driving and not replying to her attempts at conversation, ”Why aren’t you talking?”

Throughout the drive, she had been the only one talking nonstop. At first, he would occasionally grunt in response, but later on, he acted as if he didn’t hear her at all.

So infuriating. It made her look like an idiot, constantly talking to herself.

”Talk about what? How caring Mr. Carter is toward you?” James Black sneered. ”Unless I’ve gone mad.”

James Black didn’t feel like quibbling with Jane Sampson and parked the car in front of a restaurant. He then gave Jane a look, indicating for her to get out, ”We’ll have dinner outside before heading home.”

It had already taken more than an hour to get here from the airport, and it would be at least another forty minutes to home. At this time, there was also traffic, so it might take even longer to arrive. If they were to go home and cook, James Black was worried that Jane Sampson might starve to foolishness.

Jane grabbed her mobile phone and small bag and followed James down from the car after giving an ”Oh.” The restaurant was bustling with patrons, but as James had a good relationship with the shop owner, once they entered, the shop assistant greeted them and led them straight to a private room.

James didn’t even look at the menu and ordered the meal, then poured a cup of chrysanthemum tea for Jane and served her some appetizers.

Jane, seeing more and more stuff piling up in her bowl, gave James a troubled look and then waved her delicate white right hand in front of him.

”What’s wrong?” James wrapped his hand around hers, pressed it down gently, but didn’t let go. Instead, he held her hand and placed it under the table.

”Ah, let go!” Jane tugged persistently. ”I wanted to tell you my hand is already healed, I can pick up food on my own, you don’t need to keep doing it for me, I can’t finish all that.”

James paused his chopsticks, glanced at the smiling Jane across the table, and realized he had unconsciously fallen into the habit of taking care of her. Just like the past few days, whenever there was food on the table, his first thought was always to serve her, otherwise, she’d just watch him eat with those eyes full of longing, and then stare at him with a grievance-filled expression.

Jane retracted her hand and tipped half the food from her bowl into his, then began eating with her chopsticks.

Honestly, the taste at this bustling storefront really was exceptional, business was booming, and indeed there was a good reason for it.

Jane had thought James would understand after she pointed it out once, but to her surprise, when the main dishes arrived, he reverted to his old habits.

Every time a dish was served, the first thing James did was to put some in her bowl.

Sizzling beef, hot and sour bamboo shoots...

In short, all were dishes Jane enjoyed.

Jane didn’t say anything more. He served, she ate – that was fine with her. When she couldn’t eat any more, she’d just return the food to his bowl. Who asked him to serve her like this?

Was he treating her like a piglet being fed?

By the time they left the restaurant, the city area’s traffic congestion had significantly lightened. It wasn’t even 9:30 p.m., and the car had already entered the residential community.

Jane scrolled through Moments and noticed new comments. It was Old Master Black reminding her that the lottery drawing time was approaching and that she should check her numbers.

Jane chuckled. She hadn’t expected that Old Sir would still remember the message she posted subsequently.

The message from Old Master Black had been sent a while ago. By the time Jane saw it, the lottery drawing had already ended. She swiftly picked up James Black’s phone lying next to her, rapidly entered the lock screen password, launched the web browser, and searched for the lottery drawing announcement website for that issue.
