CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 372: Chapter 380: Don’t Be Angry

However, Jane Sampson must not have seen the message he sent, because just after he clicked send, Jane Sampson sent him a video call.

Jane Sampson, having run out of patience waiting for James Black to reply to her messages, knew that he must be holding his mobile phone and reading her messages but was intentionally only reading and not replying, even setting his status to typing.

Hmph! Wasting expressions, making her wait for so long.

Jane Sampson sent a video call to James Black and then sat on the small sofa in her room, waiting. As soon as she saw that James Black had picked up, she immediately swapped her woeful face for a smile.

It was the smile of a female Maitreya Buddha, complete with the paw of a lucky cat. She cheekily shook it at her phone’s video screen. ”James Black,” Jane Sampson said with a bend in her eyebrows, then whispered softly, ”Are you still angry?”

”What do you think?” James Black adjusted his sitting posture and tapped the video, switching the screen so Jane Sampson’s image is the larger one.

His voice sounded light and airy, making it difficult for one to discern his emotions or his state of mind.

Upon hearing this, Jane’s heart skipped a beat, and then she spoke in an especially coquettish voice through the screen, starting to act cute.

”You can’t be angry, don’t be mad, I know I was wrong, and it definitely won’t happen again.” If James Black were standing in front of Jane Sampson at this moment, she would surely be shaking his arm.

Jane Sampson wasn’t lacking in cajoling skills; she just didn’t use them often. But when she did, she was quite adept at it.

She smiled like a resplendent sunflower, ”I’ll head back as soon as I finish work here, okay? When I get back, I’ll cook you something tasty. Look, my hand has healed, so I can make you the vegetables you like to eat!”

Feeling this was a good opportunity to change the topic, Jane Sampson quickly continued, ”Oh, by the way, I have a secret to tell you. Mr. Carter’s mom is Ms. Gwendolyn Young! Teacher Yang is so nice, and she has amazing culinary skills. And believe it or not, Mr. Carter is an even better cook than Teacher Yang. He personally cooked this evening, and I accidentally ate too much.”

After saying this, Jane Sampson brazenly grabbed the hem of her shirt and showed James Black her still bloated belly, fooling around and thumping it three times like one would a watermelon for James Black to hear.

Then she giggled stupidly at her phone, ”I’m so stuffed. It’d be great if you were here to rub my belly for me.”

The last time she overate at the Black Family home, it was James Black who rubbed her belly for her, which helped with digestion and felt much better.

James Black’s face remained stern, and he held back for a few seconds before opening his mouth and letting out two words.

”You deserve it.”

Jane Sampson froze, reaching up to scratch her head.

What to do now?

Did she accidentally kill the conversation without realizing it?

Does he seem even more displeased?

Is she too bad at chatting, or is he even worse?

”Have the hotel send you some stomach-soothing digestive tablets,” James Black finally could not bear to watch Jane Sampson sitting there uncomfortably and spoke up to remind her.

”I took them already, Mr. Carter gave me some at his house,” Jane Sampson replied with a content smile, ”I feel much better now than I did at first.”

Mr. Carter, Mr. Carter, it’s always Mr. Carter!

James Black watched as Jane Sampson lowered her head to fiddle with her shirt’s hem, unaware that she had said the wrong thing again and earnestly fixing the shirt she had lifted back into place. James Black truly wished he could pull her out of the video screen.
