CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 380: Chapter 388: I Want to Try

Jane Sampson thought to herself, she hadn’t expected the mysterious big shot to actually be James Carter.

”Mr. Carter, do you have any ideas for the lyrics of this song?” Jane handed the score to James Carter.

”No,” James Carter shook his head with a hint of helplessness, ”I just can’t find that feeling to interpret the hearts of those children and their parents. As a result, I’ve written many lyrics, but none have satisfied me.”

For this reason, James Carter watched numerous international films and read books on the theme, trying to understand the feelings of those children searching for home and the parents searching for their children.

Unfortunately, having come from a well-off family with loving parents, he could feel the emotions at the end of a book or film, but that sentiment could only be maintained for a very short period of time.

He had written many lyrics, but he always felt as if the singing was like an outsider telling a half-hearted story.

He couldn’t resonate with many people or stir up much emotion with his songs.

”I think the lyrics of this song should be filled with intense emotion,” James Carter said with a smile tinged with regret, ”Yet I can’t produce that feeling, so it’s been put aside. I have been considering finding someone to collaborate with on the lyrics.”

”With so many talented singers signed to your studio, surely you can find such a collaborator quickly?” Jane’s eyes lingered on the music sheet for a long time.

People who learn to play the piano are probably sensitive to scores by nature, plus a good memory, so after just a few cursory glances, Jane had roughly memorized it.

”No,” James Carter shook his head frankly, ”I haven’t found anyone satisfactory.”

James Carter’s studio had indeed signed many singers, but none of them excelled in this area. They had tried offering their lyrics to him, but none captured the feeling James Carter was looking for.

Seeing James Carter’s genuinely troubled expression, Jane couldn’t help but ask, ”Otherwise, Mr. Carter, would you let me try?”

After speaking, Jane immediately regretted it. She didn’t intend to pursue a career as a singer, so why was she doing this?

But James Carter didn’t notice Jane’s instant regret after speaking. When Jane said she wanted to try, he seemed very pleased. ”Take the score with you, and if there’s anything you don’t understand, call me anytime.”

James Carter was certainly a perfectionist, and if he couldn’t produce lyrics he found satisfactory for this piece of music, he would surely keep it on hold.

And just in time, Director John Young shared this trait of perfectionism. If it couldn’t be perfect, in John Young’s eyes, it was a failure.

This shared mindset was one of the reasons James Carter and John Young got along so well.

Elizabeth King looked astonished as she watched Jane carefully put the score away into her purse, wondering to herself why Sister Jane had taken a job on her own, bypassing the company.

Would Sister Tin be upset if she found out?

It was only after lunch on the first day of filming that Jane left James Carter’s studio with him and got into his company’s car to head to a holiday village near Springtown for filming.

Unlike most holiday villages built by the sea or in places with a lot of people, it wasn’t until later that Jane realized the charm of a holiday village set in the countryside of the southland, amidst the paddy fields.
