I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 1232: Chapter 1231: The Falling少年

Little Fatty was the first to jump over the shelf, landing on the goods opposite. Right next to the goods was a small window.

He looked outside, turned around, and whispered, ”One by one, quick!”

The three young boys with Luo Yirui immediately jumped over one by one. The shelf only swayed slightly, still fairly stable. Then came the other three boys, but because one was injured, he fell down in the middle.

The boy lay on the ground, grimacing in pain, terrified to the extreme. He tried desperately to get up, but the pain rendered him temporarily immobile.

The people above were shocked, lucky that the Vertical Pupil creatures had been lured away by Luo Yirui, otherwise this boy would have been torn apart or eaten alive by seven or eight of them in an instant.

The sight of people eating people was best not to dwell on too much. Little Fatty was still haunted by the previous scene.

”Come up quickly!” Little Fatty whispered to the boy below.

How the boy wished he could get up, but he was too pained to move. He had to take a moment, almost in tears with urgency.

Fei Yunqing saw what was happening and immediately descended through the goods. He was only halfway down when a Vertical Pupil noticed the food within reach and charged excitedly.

The boy watched the blood-covered Vertical Pupil open its large mouth, the color of its teeth and gaps had turned black and red, coupled with those vertical pupils, it was particularly terrifying.

The boy was so scared his legs went soft. It was his first time experiencing something like this; he was completely overwhelmed, desperate and not knowing what to do.

Fei Yunqing wanted badly to pull the boy up before the Vertical Pupil reached him, but the Vertical Pupil was too fast, and he was too frightened to go further down.

The boy knew he probably wouldn’t survive this ordeal. His mind went blank, all color drained from his face. At last, he whimpered quietly. At twelve or thirteen years old, all he wanted now was to go home.

The people above were equally pale. No matter how hard they shouted, the boy was beyond saving.

Just then, a loud whistle echoed through the warehouse. The charging Vertical Pupil halted at the sound, turned its head, and saw the boy, out of reach moments ago, suddenly moving further down.

Despite the tempting prey before it, the Vertical Pupil’s instinctive desire for even fresher food made it turn back, following its possessive instinct for food. A delay meant it might get nothing at all.

”Grab him!” Luo Yirui shouted.

Fei Yunqing hesitated no longer, leaped down, scooped up the boy, and bolted towards the pile of goods opposite.

The other two boys seized this moment and jumped over from the shelf as well.

Everyone had reached the exit for escape, except Luo Yirui who was now in deep peril!

Luo Yirui hadn’t truly descended, but his situation was equally dire. The Vertical Pupil’s hand could reach his ankle. If he paused even for a second, he could be caught. He needed to find the right moment to run upward, otherwise, he would certainly be dragged down by one of them.

Once dragged down, no matter how skilled Luo Yirui was, it would be useless!

”Come this way!”

On the other side, Little Fatty shouted. He was shouting at the Vertical Pupil, hoping to draw its attention back.

Seeing Little Fatty yelling at the top of his lungs, the others understood his intent and began shouting as well.

”Monsters, come over here!”

The boys yelled together, while Fei Yunqing found a stick and began to hit the shelves. Yet, the Vertical Pupil ignored them altogether.
