Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1042: Chapter 612: The Intention

After Li Qing finished speaking, Miaomiao quickly followed up: ”My thoughts are similar to Li Qing’s. In my opinion, constantly surpassing oneself is the greatest progress.

Take me, for example. If I were to keep comparing myself with the teammates selected for Fierce Tiger and Team A from our dorm, I might become increasingly restless and disappointed.

Because while I’m pushing myself, they’re also pushing themselves. If I don’t maintain the right mindset, I might think, ’Why can’t I catch up with them despite putting in the same effort?’

But at the same time, aren’t I overlooking a crucial point—that differences in family background, intelligence, and education from a young age are the most significant factors?”

Bai Qingchu retorted, unconvinced: ”According to you, kids from less fortunate backgrounds are destined to be beneath others forever? Doomed to generational poverty?”

Miaomiao shook her head: ”No, what I mean is that family background and intelligence are determined by birth, and it’s not worth getting hung up on them.

As for achievements later in life, apart from personal effort, one must also consider inherent abilities, personal opportunities, and other aspects. Jealousy and resentment don’t solve anything.”

”Yaoguang’s family is not better off than mine, so how do you explain that?”

Miaomiao looked helplessly at Bai Qingchu: ”Can’t you stop being so stubborn? Are you going to say next that you’re unsure who has a higher IQ between you and Yaoguang, so why could she join Fierce Tiger but you couldn’t?”

”I...” Bai Qingchu hesitated for a moment before answering, ”I didn’t mean it like that, I just wanted to refute your argument.”

Yaoguang quickly added: ”My family’s not better off than yours, but I have the encouragement of good friends like Luoluo and Qiu’er, and I’ve been raised like a boy since I was young, so I’m stronger in terms of physical ability compared to the average girl. These probably have some connection to it.”

Luo Ye waved his hand: ”Alright, stop arguing. Not getting selected for Team A or Fierce Tiger doesn’t necessarily mean you’re worse. Who can really say what the future holds?”

”I’m just not satisfied. We’re all human—why are there so many differences from birth?” Bai Qingchu said, starting to sob softly.

”Quiet down, room check.”

As Luo Ye finished speaking, the door opened. Bai Yan glanced around the room by the moonlight, pausing briefly in front of Luo Ye’s bed before turning to leave.

Ten minutes later, after Bai Yan’s footsteps faded away, Luo Ye coughed lightly: ”Qingchu, are you facing some difficult situation?” After all, they’ve been together for nearly three years, and with Bai Qingchu’s personality, she wouldn’t act this way unless she was provoked.

”My cousin... my cousin might not make it. If... if my aunt’s family had better financial conditions, maybe...” Bai Qingchu choked and couldn’t continue.

Luo Ye sat up abruptly: ”Didn’t Senior Brother Qi recover well after the bone marrow transplant? How did this happen? When did it start?”

”My cousin used to have such outstanding grades in school, but after graduation, he ended up in a meaningless clerical position in the army, and he’s been quite depressed.

Plus, with the family’s average conditions, my cousin has been very frugal to support my younger cousin in school, so his nutrition fell short, and as a result, his old illness relapsed.

The doctor said that my aunt’s family should prepare themselves psychologically...” Bai Qingchu continued sobbing, ”My cousin specifically told me not to spread it at school. He doesn’t want to owe any favors to the school or to his juniors anymore.”

After Bai Qingchu finished speaking, the dorm room fell silent. The news was too unexpected; the life they had saved with joint efforts was slipping away just like that?

Upon reflection, it was ultimately due to an unbalanced mindset. Thinking of it this way, does everyone’s arguing, jealousy, and envy solve anything?

If Qi Ziheng could have maintained a calm mind, wouldn’t things have been different?

This assumption might be wrong, but at that moment, everyone sounded the alarm in their hearts; the impact of negative emotions is indeed terrifying.

”Qingchu, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were upset for this reason.” Yu Na was the first to apologize.

Ji Sisi got off her bed and gently patted Bai Qingchu: ”My grandpa has a thousand-year-old Ganoderma. I’ll call him tomorrow to ask for it. I’ve heard Ganoderma is beneficial for leukemia; maybe it will help.”

Li Qing handed over a small packet: ”Qingchu, this is the money I’ve saved up. Take it for Senior Brother Qi. No matter how much it is, it’s my heartfelt gesture.”

With Li Qing’s reminder, the others also got up and rummaged through their bags.

”No need, thank you, but really, there’s no need.” Bai Qingchu sniffed twice, ”My cousin’s unit has covered all the medical expenses and hired the best doctors, but it’s all too late.”
