Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 1001: Chapter 587: Alternative Evaluation

Seeing the audience begin to look at Luo Ye with a touch of admiration, Yi Yuqing quickly said, ”Zhou Aibang is completely changing the subject. According to the rules of the debate, there should not be any conflict of interest between judges and participants.

And Mr. Zhou’s actions show that he has a conflict of interest with Luo Ye. Therefore, I request that Mr. Zhou’s scoring of Luo Ye be annulled!”

Zhou Aibang sneered, ”You have no authority to do that. Luo Ye is a straightforward participant, and what you are doing is completely unreasonable.”

”I also disagree with Miss Yi’s statement.” Professor Li Yanqing raised his placard, ”As a professional judge, I can responsibly say that Ye is an excellent debater. Lowering her score just because Zhou Aibang approached her is highly unfair.

If we go by that logic, any judge could just chat with a participant they don’t like before the competition, right? What do you all think?”

”Hahaha... Bravo...” The audience laughed and clapped.

Professor Zhan Tiangang concurred, ”I agree with Professor Li. I don’t know what kind of interests Miss Yi and Mr. Zhou have, but I hope they don’t project their emotions onto the participants.”

”There is no conflict of interest between us. I’m doing this merely to be fair to other participants. Also, there is another issue.” Yi Yuqing looked towards Luo Ye’s position, ”Since Mr. Zhou says Ye is a straightforward participant, I would like to ask Ye a question.”

Luo Ye stood up, ”Please go ahead.”

”As an opponent debater, your point is that even if university students’ relationships don’t affect their studies, they should still be suppressed, right?”

Luo Ye nodded, ”That’s my team’s argument.”

”But as far as I know, you started dating in high school, so how do you explain that?” Yi Yuqing chuckled, ”Some might say that debate points don’t represent personal views, but in my opinion, if a participant argues a point completely contrary to their actions, yet does so convincingly, how do they remain straightforward?”

Luo Ye smiled faintly, ”Judge Yi, according to your logic, should every debater’s argument align perfectly with their personal actions? Otherwise, they’re not being straightforward, correct?”

”Yes!”

”Then you’re not a professional judge, case closed!” Luo Ye stated and sat down.

”Hahaha...”

The audience burst into laughter.

The judges on stage and the guests at the podium couldn’t help but laugh as well. This girl was so unexpected; they thought she was going to refute but instead, she drew a conclusion.

Professor Yang Liming raised his placard, ”I want to say something fair. In my opinion, Judge Yi’s point also holds some truth, that actions should match words.”

”At the beginning of this debate, Minister Li hoped everyone would have open minds and express diverse views, and it seems everyone has done well.” Lin Meng smiled, looking at the judges’ panel, ”So, can we now reach a consensus?”

”I insist!”

”I insist too!”

Yi Yuqing and Zhou Aibang said simultaneously.

Minister Li tapped the microphone, ”Luo Ye’s score will be based on the other five judges’ scores, but now Luo Ye needs to self-defend against the issue Judge Yi raised and see if she can persuade the five judges to willingly give her a fair score.”

”Understood!” Luo Ye stood up, smiling politely, ”Now, I’m neither taking the affirmative nor the negative side, but rather arguing from a macro perspective.

Whether university students’ love is worth advocating for has always been a controversial topic. In my view, it has two sides.

If a person’s mindset is mature enough to handle everything, and they early meet the right person, then early relationships are not objectionable.

Conversely, if one just follows the trend because others are in a relationship, indulges in the sweetness, but lacks psychological preparedness for future challenges post-graduation, then it should not be encouraged.

As for me, I can responsibly say that I have the capability to face everything in the future. I also believe that my fiancé will always be by my side, facing life’s ups and downs with me.

For us, confirming our relationship early is not a burden; it only encourages and supports us to go further together...” Luo Ye paused abruptly and continued, ”So, my conclusion is that today’s debate topic is inherently dual-sided and cannot be generalized.”
