Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 678: Chapter 398: Meeting the Parents

Lu Family’s living room.

Mo Yaoguang, Yan Xingnong, Luo Ye, and Tang Luo sat in succession on the sofa, with a red teak coffee table in the middle, and across from them sat Mr. Lu Lu Gangxing, Mrs. Lu Zeng Yu, and the sly young master Lu Lu.

This counts as Lady Yan’s first meeting with her future parents-in-law—forced and helpless, she guessed, from now on, she would never dare to make promises carelessly.

That day, she had agreed to a visit during the winter break just to stabilize Lu Lu, planning to head north with Luoye Yaoguang after attending Mommy Miaomiao’s wedding, to cheer on Luo Lian’s Milan Cup preliminary finals.

Then, they would all return to Island City, leaving Lu Lu unable to do anything even if he grew wings. However, she didn’t count on ”Lu”’s calculation. Lu Zhengtai went to block the school that very afternoon.

She wanted to stall, but alas, the other party didn’t give her a chance. When she started to make excuses again, he gave a harsh ultimatum: if she didn’t go to meet the parents, he would announce their relationship through the school’s public address system.

Damn it, she definitely believed this kid wasn’t joking. Come to think of it, how did she never realize how domineering this kid was?

This truly was a slip that caused eternal regret, and looking back... she couldn’t go back anymore, sob...

So, the next morning at nine o’clock, when some students with suitcases boarded the train home, Yan Classmate and her group of besties stepped into the Lu Family’s door and sat on the Lu Family’s sofa.

But, why was this sofa so soft? She felt so exhausted just trying to sit upright.

Luo Ye quietly tried to withdraw her wrist... but couldn’t, and gasped from the pain.

From the moment she sat on the Lu Family’s sofa, Lady Yan had been venting her frustration by pinching her wrist. How she regretted not swapping places with Tangtang!

Miss Tang turned her head and just happened to encounter Lady Luo’s resentful and regretful gaze, wondering to herself. The one being threatened was clearly Lady Yan, so why did Lady Luo also have that expression?

”Have some tea, everyone, please have some tea.” Zeng Yu courteously insisted, poking Lu Gangxing with her elbow. She never thought that at the ”ripe age” of forty, she would become a mother-in-law, and she really couldn’t wrap her head around it just yet.

Their son had been smart since childhood and never needed his parents to worry about anything. But this matter made them both proud and somewhat sad.

Just look at his pace of study; he could have been in college by now, but he stubbornly chose to loiter in high school with Wen Nan. As parents, they had to put on a supportive front, but which parents have as little say as they do?

A few days ago, he seriously announced that he would apply for university early next year, but it turned out it was because he found them a daughter-in-law, planning to accompany her at school.

Other people’s children, when it comes to the important matter of marriage, might not let the parents decide, but at least they consult them, right? But in his family, parents only got a notification.

It’s not that they were dissatisfied with this daughter-in-law, it’s mainly the feeling that they got bypassed, which left a strange taste in their mouths. Who exactly is the elder here?

Lu Gangxing coughed lightly, his lips moved but made no sound.

Even him, the Vice Mayor who’s used to handling big situations, could not have imagined his son would have a girlfriend so soon and that their first meeting would be so unexpected.

Yesterday afternoon when his son came home, he solemnly issued a notice that the future daughter-in-law would visit the next morning at about ten o’clock, and that all family members were forbidden to leave the house beforehand.

He thought for a moment and very seriously asked his son if it was just a polite visit.

Instead, he was scorned by his son, who said: ”Do you think I’m an irresponsible person who takes things lightly? Do you even understand your own son?”

Worried about being despised by his son again, Vice Mayor Lu, who is always decisive in front of his subordinates, was dumbstruck.

Lu Lu glanced at his sullen parents, feeling disappointed, and simply took matters into his own hands: ”Nongnong, Sister Ye’er, Sister Tangtang, Sister Yaoguang, my parents are doing it for the first time, they are a bit nervous and don’t know what to say. I guarantee, they are two hundred percent fond of you all, welcome to our home.”

”You’re thinking about a second, third time?...” Tang Luo teased him about his wording.

Lu Lu hurriedly waved his hands: ”No, no, I’m also a bit nervous, I didn’t think my words through.”

Xing Nong straightened up, clenched her teeth and said: ”Uncle Lu, Aunt Zeng, our visit may seem abrupt, and it’s normal for you to be uncomfortable. Actually, I also feel that I’m not quite suitable for Lu Lu.”
