Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 672: Chapter 394: Truth / Alliance_2

”Okay, I’ll go get him right now.” Wu Zetian quickly dashed upstairs.

In less than two minutes, Zhu Jiangyu ran down, his eyes faintly gleaming with excitement: ”Luoluo, were you looking for me?”

”Yes.” Luo Ye responded, seeing quite a few students wandering back and forth beside the two, she helplessly smiled: ”Let’s talk up front.”

”Luoluo, what’s the matter?” Once they were still, Zhu Jiangyu urgently asked, his voice carrying a hint of nervousness.

”Zhu Jiangyu, thank you...” Luo Ye looked at him earnestly: ”Really, thank you for being willing to do that for me, but you fool, how could you meddle in matters of the heart like that?”

”How... did you know?” He was slightly taken aback, then immediately realized what she was talking about.

Luo Ye honestly said: ”Yu Na saw your diary and understood why you pursued her. If not for the fact that she respected your father as a hero, she might have retaliated.

Of course, that’s her version, but I feel that she must care about you a little, otherwise, she wouldn’t have hurriedly told me to persuade you.”

”Heh...” Zhu Jiangyu chuckled: ”I’m really pathetic, to think I was being so secretive. Luoluo, I’m sorry, I’m just so useless, I couldn’t help you at all.”

”Why say that? Zhu Jiangyu, it’s normal that you didn’t like the old me, even I don’t like myself, really.” Luo Ye earnestly looked at him: ”You are the hope of the Zhu Family, the only hope to sustain that family forward, therefore, your life shouldn’t hinge on anyone, you owe me nothing, never did.

As for my feelings, if he truly loves me, nobody can take them away, if we are together just because of your kind of help, then sooner or later, we would part.”

”I understand now.” Zhu Jiangyu gave a bitter smile: ”I regret being blind before and now know I’m not worthy of you. Weighing everything, I feel the only thing I can do is to safeguard that feeling for you, but it turns out, I was wrong again.”

”Matters of the heart are only about whether it’s right or not, there’s no being worthy or unworthy...” Luo Ye smiled and extended her hand: ”From now on, let’s remain friends!”

Zhu Jiangyu gently grasped it, then immediately let go: ”You’re right, what I can do, is to work hard. I owe too many people, especially Secretary Luo.”

Turning him around completely isn’t something that happens in a day or two, seeing it’s getting late, Luo Ye waved her hand at him: ”I’m heading back now.”

Only when her silhouette disappeared from view did Zhu Jiangyu turn around to walk back, then from the side of the wall, Liu Xing appeared, swiftly catching up.

Hearing footsteps, Zhu Jiangyu quickly turned around to see Liu Xing, a displeased expression crossing his face: ”How can you eavesdrop on our conversation?”

”I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to.” Liu Xing apologized with a smile: ”I was feeling a bit down and went looking for a quiet place to clear my head, I didn’t expect you and Luoluo would come over.”

”How is that different from eavesdropping?” Zhu Jiangyu huffed: ”It ends up the same.”

Liu Xing explained: ”I was hesitating whether or not to greet you when you started talking, I was worried you’d be embarrassed, so I stayed silent.”

”Why did you come out now?” Zhu Jiangyu’s expression softened slightly.

”Since we are both willing to give for the same person, becoming friends, that’s not impossible, right?” Liu Xing chuckled bitterly: ”Even men sometimes need someone to listen.”

Zhu Jiangyu patted his shoulder: ”What’s got you feeling down?”

”I called home earlier, and something about my mom’s voice seemed off, I suspect she might be ill.” Liu Xing paused, then continued: ”As you know about my family’s situation, we’ve already completely left our old life circle, and there are no relatives or friends nearby to support my mom...”

”I understand.” Zhu Jiangyu placed an arm around his shoulder: ”I really do understand your feelings. When my dad first had problems, many people had begun distancing from us.

Until Secretary Luo personally intervened, and then people changed their attitude. But that short period left a deep impression on me.

In this world, there are always those willing to kick you when you’re down, but luckily, we’ve been fortunate, to meet Uncle Luo who helps in tough times.

Liu Xing, I know, you guys must be deliberately avoiding Uncle Luo, otherwise, he would never ignore your mom’s situation. Though I’ve only met him a few times, I’m very sure about my judgment.”

”You’re right because of my dad and brother’s actions, mom felt guilty towards the Luo Family, and purposefully wanted to distance us.” Chairman Liu took a deep breath: ”This time when I go home, I will persuade my mom to reconnect with the Luo Family, not for climbing the social ladder, but in hopes of fighting my battles without worries.

Zhu Jiangyu, I have a suggestion, since we are both grateful to the same person and love the same person, and are destined to only wait quietly, how about we help each other, for a day when we can help her more, what do you think?”

”To journey alone indeed is too exhausting.” Zhu Jiangyu nodded in agreement, their hands firmly clasped together. Sometimes, the friendship between men could indeed be more peculiar than that among women.

Until the two had left, a shadow emerged from behind the wall, Luo Ye stepped out. She had indeed left earlier, but while turning back, had just seen Liu Xing stepping out, so she quietly returned.

She had mostly heard their conversation, and she suspected these two might not even clear about whether they were grateful to Luo Ba or her, Luo Ye. She sighed softly, pulled out her cellphone to make a call, as her charming figure swiftly vanished into the night...
