Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 662: Chapter 388: Su Sha’s Call / Going to A Division

The end-of-term exams were over, and the campus suddenly became livelier than usual. Xing Nong and Yaoguang hung onto Luo Ye’s arms, one on each side, chattering like two little birds. However, Luo Ye seemed somewhat absent-minded.

Ye Family had taken the initiative to call Luo Family and Wen Family. After consultation among the three parties, it was decided that the engagement would be on the ninth day of the first lunar month, coinciding with Luo Ye’s birthday.

The ceremony would be held at Wen’s Mansion, also as a warning to those who had been plotting schemes. From that point forward, the Wen and Ye families would form an official alliance, and anyone targeting Wen’s Mansion would be going against the Ye Family.

For this decision, Luo Ye was a mix of excitement and apprehension. After the ceremony, she would truly have to change how she addressed her new family—just thinking about it felt like a dream.

Her current distraction wasn’t due to this matter, but rather because she had just received a call from Su Sha, who told her about Qiao Xiaowan’s plight, and also informed Luo Ye that she had reported everything to Old Master Ye and Ye Jia’an.

Naturally, the objective was to seek the Ye Family’s intervention, to both take revenge on behalf of Lian Qinghua and her daughter, and to gain advantages from the Moselle Family—a win-win situation.

However, Old Master Ye and Ye Jia’an straightforwardly rejected her proposal. They believed that if the Ye Family intervened, it would simply be unfair to Luo Ye, considering everything Qiao Xiaowan had done to her.

So, Su Sha called Luo Ye, feeling that Qiao Xiaowan was too pitiful. Her parents were divorced, she had been disfigured, and whether or not she was infected with HIV would only be clear after about six weeks of testing. For now, all that could be done was to treat the burns.

According to Lian Qinghua’s description of that sibling duo’s character, the HIV matter might be true; thus, it was very likely Qiao Xiaowan couldn’t escape it either.

Su Sha mentioned these things, hoping that Luo Ye could forgive Qiao Xiaowan and persuade Old Master Ye to help. After all, Qiao Xiaowan had already received her retribution—shouldn’t one be lenient where possible?

Forgive? Luo Ye couldn’t help but sneer inwardly. Why did everyone think Qiao Xiaowan could be forgiven just because she did not succeed? Why didn’t they consider that if she had reacted just a bit slower, the outcome would have been completely different!

She finally understood the nagging doubt in her mind. No wonder Qiao Xiaowan, fully aware of the surveillance in the meeting room, still went ahead with her actions—it was a deliberate attempt at dragging someone down even in her downfall.

If it weren’t for Luo Lian’s earlier description of her foster siblings’ perverse nature, and explaining that they were friends with a pair of children from Qiao Xiaowan’s uncle’s family, Luo Ye would have found it hard to believe that family members could do such things.

Su Sha knew it was impossible for Luo Ye to come to terms with this all at once, so she gave her three days to consider and to provide a definite answer to Lian Qinghua.

After hanging up the call, Luo Ye was entangled in this matter. Emotionally, she absolutely couldn’t forgive, but rationally, she needed to consider carefully.

At that moment, she even envied Feng Tianzhi for not having to consider others’ opinions; regardless of what others said, he acted purely according to his own desires and nature.

Let it be, this matter should be discussed with Ye Xuan. Having regretted in her past life, in this life, she refused to do anything that wouldn’t benefit her family, even if it meant sometimes putting herself at a disadvantage.

Luo Ye snapped back to reality and noticed that Xing Nong and Yaoguang had stopped talking, occasionally stealing glances at her, slightly embarrassed. ”Why aren’t you talking anymore?”

”Tsk!” Both raised their middle fingers in unison.

Luo Ye ignored their contemptuous expressions and stuffed her bag into Yaoguang’s arms, ”I have to go out for a bit; take my bag back for me.”

Xing Nong grabbed hold of her, ”Wait, tell me, are you going to see your lover?”

”Qiu’er, Yao Yao, it’s really something quite serious... and quite disgusting. It concerns Lianlian’s cheap sister, I need to discuss it with Ye Xuan. I’ll tell you about it when I get back.”

Xing Nong quickly let her go, ”Okay, then hurry and go.”

...

Upon hearing Luo Ye asking for a leave, Hang Menglin was somewhat displeased, ”Even if you have become a member of Fierce Tiger, you’re still a soldier, right? Using special privileges frequently, do you think that’s appropriate? Besides, you’re still the district Political Commissar, deputy team leader.”

Remembering that Coach Hang had once given her special permission to go home to deal with Sang Qingqing’s matter, Luo Ye explained amiably, ”Coach Hang, I really have an emergency.”

Hang Menglin glanced at her indifferently, ”Luo Ye, I’m not intentionally making things difficult for you. After all, you have to consider the impact of this matter. Moreover, due to the Qiao Xiaowan case, whether you can stay in Fierce Tiger is now uncertain. Hence, frequent usage of special privileges is not good for you either, right?”
