Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 485: Chapter 290: Returning Home Late at Night

”Luo Ye, hurry, they don’t seem too happy on the phone.” Seeing Luo Ye running over, Li Xiaobei quickly handed her the phone.

Luo Ye covered the mouthpiece, looking apologetic at Li Xiaobei: ”Little Bei, did you call your village chief to get him to call your parents?”

”Don’t worry about me, you answer the phone first.” Li Xiaobei waved her hands repeatedly.

”I and Little Bei will keep watch for you, hurry up.” Xing Nong rushed over, pulling Li Xiaobei away from Luo Ye to give them some distance.

”I’ll be quick.” Luo Ye said as she released the receiver, ”Hello, this is Luo Ye.”

”Luo Ye, it’s me.” A cold male voice came through.

Luo Ye paused for a moment, then recognized who it was, ”Luo Shui, what happened?” Her voice full of concern, knowing Luo Shui, he wouldn’t call her unless it was something he couldn’t solve himself, especially not at this time.

”The company is fine, everything is going well, this month we received orders from more than a hundred companies, don’t worry, we won’t let you lose money, it’s...” Luo Shui hesitated, seemingly sighing, ”It’s Sister Sang, after weighing the situation, I think it’s better to tell you.”

”Qingqing... what’s wrong with her?” Luo Ye’s voice deepened, as if she had already anticipated something.

”Dr. Su Can, remember him?”

”Of course, he’s been pursuing Qingqing, how could I forget?”

”Did Sister Sang ever tell you that she and Dr. Su got together?”

”Before I left, I talked to Qingqing about letting go of her past hang-ups. Dr. Su has been pursuing her for over a year and he knows about her past. If he can persist for so long, it means he is sincere.

At that time, Qingqing didn’t say much, but her expression loosened. After coming to Sha City, I called Qingqing twice. She didn’t mention their progress, and it wasn’t right for me to keep asking about it. From what you say, they’ve confirmed their relationship?”

Luo Shui, apart from being a bit extreme towards his problematic relatives, was usually quite rational, especially after more than a year of training, he has become much more mature in handling situations. Thus, Luo Ye trusted that he had a reason for asking and patiently waited for him to reveal the answer.

”Maybe your persuasion worked, not long after you left Sister Sang confirmed her relationship with Dr. Su. Recently, they even met Dr. Su’s parents, and judging by Sister Sang’s expressions, she got along with Mr. and Mrs. Su quite well.

But then, for some reason, three days after their meeting, Mr. and Mrs. Su came storming into the company, loudly questioning Sister Sang if her real name was Qian Mei, and whether she had done something shameful in the past.

Faced with the questioning of Mr. and Mrs. Su, Sister Sang didn’t say a word, her face turned pale. I urged her to speak, but she just stood there like a block of wood without reacting. When Mr. and Mrs. Su left, they warned her to leave Su Can, saying they could never accept a woman like her.

Afterward, Sister Sang became a workaholic, starting at five in the morning running between companies, and not returning until early the next morning.

If you saw her now, you might barely recognize her, she’s so thin, just skin and bones, and lifeless too. If this continues, I’m afraid... so, after thinking it over, I decided it’s better to tell you.”

Luo Ye clenched her fists tightly, ”What about Su Can? Did he do anything after the incident?”

”He came to apologize to Sister Sang, telling her not to take his parents’ words to heart, saying he would find out who was behind all this.

But since that day, Sister Sang completely ignores him, she doesn’t push him away, doesn’t speak, doesn’t hit, doesn’t scold, she acts as if he is just thin air. I only completely understood the specifics when Su Shan told me in detail.

You know, Sister Sang and I mostly talk about work. I’m not the type to notice these kinds of things, so I didn’t call you until today, I didn’t really understand why Sister Sang became like that.” Luo Shui’s voice carried a rare note of apology.

”I understand.” Luo Ye took a deep breath, ”I’ll handle this, but for the time being, you’ll have to work a bit harder at the company.”

”No problem, I’m a shareholder too, you don’t have to be so formal.”

Normally, Luo Ye would certainly crack a joke with him, but right now, she wasn’t in the mood, ”Luo Shui, I have to go, goodbye.”

”Little Bei, sorry for the trouble, come make your call quickly.” Luo Ye said, walking towards Xing Nong: ”Qiu’er, I need your help with something.”

”Say the word.” Xing Nong puffed up his chest, casually rolling up his sleeves.
