Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 467: Chapter 280: Embarrassing Misunderstanding

In a small conference room at the S city, A army base, Jiang Zheng, Ye Xuan, and Bai Yan were holding a meeting. Jiang Zheng, who was speaking, suddenly stopped, ”Ye, are you thinking I’m talking for too long?”

”No, boss. Please, continue.”

”Then why do you keep checking the time?” Jiang Zheng looked dissatisfied, ”I thought I had picked up the habit of speaking in official jargon, annoying Deputy Commander Ye.”

”Pff!”

Bai Yan covered her mouth and apologized repeatedly, ”Sorry! So sorry!”

”It’s fine, if you hang around me long enough, you’ll know I’m not that particular.” Jiang Zheng sized the two up, ”Something’s odd, is there something I don’t know about?”

Ye Xuan lifted his eyelids slightly, ”No, you can go on.”

”Bai Yan, you see, this guy just has this sort of attitude, always so bullish with everyone, look, he won’t even look me in the eye. So you see, your dispute with him is totally pointless, that’s just the way he is.”

”Master Jiang, you don’t need to make excuses for him. I don’t have many demands. As colleagues, a simple polite smile occasionally isn’t asking too much. With the way he behaves, I thought I had offended him.”

When Jiang Zheng brought this up, Bai Yan felt her anger rise again. Ever since she had arrived, she hadn’t seen him smile once. She wasn’t exactly eager to please him, what was he putting on airs for?

Jiang Zheng nodded his chin, ”Ye, give us a smile.”

”I’m not in the business of selling smiles.” Ye Xuan gave Jiang Zheng a brief glance, ”Are we continuing or not?”

”Such a killjoy!” Jiang Zheng became serious again, ”The current disagreement is over the conflict between training schedules and leisure arrangements. Neither of you should be so stubborn, take a step back each.”

With a look of grievance, Bai Yan began to complain, ”The organization sent me here to be in charge of the cultural life and psychological building of A army. I have to do my utmost to fulfill my duties.

The training plan devised by Deputy Commander Ye is beyond normal human capacity, and it’s extremely unhealthy for both physical and mental health.

Excessive physical exertion can lead to negative emotions taking the lead, and in serious cases, can result in depression. I’ve laid out all the causes and effects to Deputy Commander Ye, yet he insists on his own approach, Master Jiang, I’m asking for your support.”

”Take a look at this.” Jiang Zheng handed Bai Yan a training outline.

Two minutes later, Bai Yan closed the folder, ”This training isn’t as tough as the plan created by Deputy Commander Ye; the soldiers should be able to handle it.”

”Now look at this.” Jiang Zheng handed her another document.

After looking for a while, Bai Yan shook her head in disbelief, ”How can the trainee team achieve such results?”

”That’s right, this is the truth.” Jiang Zheng smiled, ”While these kids did have some background, they couldn’t have been better than the soldiers of A army.

The members of A army, they are all top picks from various forces. If their training intensity is less than that of the trainee team, where would they put their faces?”

After a moment’s thought, Bai Yan said, ”It’s different, though. Members of the trainee team are meant to be at the top of the pyramid. If A army’s soldiers had the same training intensity and skills, why go to the trouble of selecting them?”

”The trainee team values comprehensive quality, including culture, thoughts, and physical strength, and most have their own specialties. Their selection is not solely based on physical capabilities.”

”Master Jiang, it’s obvious that you’re particularly fond of the members of the trainee team.”

”They’re the treasures of our A army, how could I not like them?” Jiang Zheng chuckled, ”Mr. Bai has not participated in special operations, and doesn’t have a concrete concept. Martial skills can be practiced by anyone, but various talents and the ability to analyze and react are not something everyone can develop.”

Bai Yan flipped through the two documents again and pondered for a while, ”Alright, I’m persuaded by you. How about this: let’s proceed with Deputy Commander Ye’s training outline and if there are issues along the way, I have the right to call a halt to discuss and revise the outline, okay?”

Jiang Zheng turned to Ye Xuan, ”Ye, you answer.”

”Okay.”

”Can’t you say a few more words, kid?” Jiang Zheng looked helpless.

”Hmm, okay.”

...

Jiang Zheng, at a loss for words, added some punctuation, which is considered half a word more, then cleared his throat, ”Let’s reconcile the outline to fix the time for the psychological classes.”

...

”Knock knock knock...” A rhythmic knocking sounded at the door.

”Come in!”

The door to the meeting room opened, and a soldier around twenty years old stood at the entrance, saluted and said, ”Reporting in, someone is here looking for Deputy Commander Ye.”

”Boss...” Ye Xuans usually impassive eyes, finally showed some expression.
