Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 459: Chapter 274: Confession and Visiting the Sick

After dinner, Luo Ye, Star Manipulating, and Moonlight made a plan to visit Ye Mo’s dorm. The military training had just ended, and Mrs. Ye was moving to the A military base with Ye Mo tomorrow. The three had a lot to do tomorrow, so they came early to see them off.

Mrs. Ye complained about why they only came after dinner. After a lot of explanations and promising to visit her frequently, she cheered up again.

”Look how thin and tan this child has become, being a soldier really isn’t suitable for girls,” Mrs. Ye said with concern, caressing Luo Ye’s cheek, ”Luckily, her skin hasn’t gotten rough.”

”Auntie, you’re so biased. Xing Nongyao and I have also lost weight and gotten tanned, why don’t you feel sorry for us?” Star Manipulating pouted, making a sad face.

”Only you would make a fuss.” Mrs. Ye pinched Star Manipulating’s cheek. ”It’s not your turn yet, look how thin this poor girl is, there’s no fat left to make a broth...”

Moonlight shrank back: ”Auntie, it’s enough to care about them, don’t bother about me.”

”How could I not? When I make broth, how could I leave you out? Moonlight, have you noticed? Auntie is too biased, she only cares about Luoluo, and when it comes to us, she wants to make broth out of us after caring. My pure little heart has suffered so much...”

Mrs. Ye interrupted with a laugh: ”Let’s not rush to make broth, let me fatten you up first. What snacks do you want to eat tonight? I’ll make them for you.”

”Shaomai, with meat filling,” Star Manipulating requested unreservedly.

Mrs. Ye stood up: ”Alright, I’ll make shaomai. Star Manipulating, Moonlight, come help Auntie, it will be good for you to learn.”

Clearly, the mother was deliberately creating an opportunity for her son. Star Manipulating pulled a face at Ye Mo and Luo Ye, and dragged Moonlight: ”Auntie has spoken, let’s go help!”

”I’m coming too,” Luo Ye quickly got up.

Star Manipulating pushed her back down into the chair: ”No need, stay and chat with Instructor Ye. Besides, we should have something we’re better at than you, right? It’s decided, let’s start with learning how to make shaomai.”

Mrs. Ye popped her head out from the kitchen: ”Ye’er, the kitchen is too small for four people, you stay out.” She then pulled Star Manipulating in and closed the kitchen door.

Ye Mo smiled embarrassedly: ”Ye’er, my mom really likes you, don’t blame her.”

”I know.” Luo Ye poured a cup of tea for Ye Mo. ”Brother Ye, what position will you hold at the base?”

”Battalion commander, and when there’s a major task, I’ll go on assignment as usual. It’s like being in two roles.”

”That sounds tough.”

”It’s okay, I’ve gotten used to it.” Ye Mo took a sip from his tea cup, and a brief silence fell between them. Luo Ye felt uneasy and looked around, trying to make conversation: ”The houses over there are more spacious, aren’t they?”

”About the same.” Ye Mo answered briefly and continued drinking his tea.

Luo Ye paused, her intuition telling her that Ye Mo’s attitude towards her had changed, as if he was avoiding something, or perhaps afraid of something.

”Brother Ye, is there something wrong?”

”Nothing.” The light cast the shadow of a coat hanger on Ye Mo’s face, shading the fleeting melancholy in his eyes.

”If there’s anything, you must tell me. If it’s within my ability, I will do my best, and if not, I will find a way to help you, Brother Ye.”

”Okay.” Ye Mo nodded, refilling the teapot, and silence fell again.

Suddenly, Luo Ye made a connection with Ye Mo’s behavior from a few days ago, hesitated, and then said: ”Brother Ye, I... I’m with Ye Xuan now.”

”Congratulations... Ye’er.”

”Oops!” The cup suddenly flipped over on the coffee table, ”Look at me, I’m so happy...” Ye Mo reached out his arm, which trembled slightly, using his sleeve to wipe, his smile stiff and dry.

”Brother Ye...” Luo Ye also felt bad, as he was the last person she wanted to hurt, but if she didn’t tell him now and confirm it, it might hurt him even deeper.

”Ye’er, walk with me outside,” Ye Mo stood up and walked out.

”Auntie, we’re going out for a while,” Luo Ye informed Mrs. Ye and quickly followed.

”These two kids, always in a rush,” Mrs. Ye said gleefully to Star Manipulating and Moonlight: ”You two, if you want to eat something in the future, call Auntie ahead of time, I’ll make it and bring it over.”

”Thank you, Auntie.” The two responded, a hint of helplessness flashing in their eyes. As Luo Ye’s best friends, they naturally sensed that Luo Ye’s affection was not for Ye Mo, and Aunt Ye’s hopes might be dashed!

...

The next morning, Luo Ye, Star Manipulating, Moonlight, Zhan Hao, Wu Zetian, Liu Xing, and Ye Qingzhu gathered to visit Captain Xiang in the hospital.

As soon as they entered the hospital, Ye Qingzhu’s grip on Luo Ye’s hand kept tightening until Luo Ye couldn’t take it anymore: ”Sister Qingzhu, you’re going to break my wrist.” She forcefully pulled her sore wrist out of Ye Qingzhu’s grip and held it up to her: ”Look, look, it’s turned purple-red.”
