Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 383: Chapter 224: Preparations and Training Begin (Happy Birthday to Meili the Cola Editor!)

Xing Nong snorted through his nose and glared at the elderly lady-in-law who rolled her eyes at him: ”Even if it were for feeding a dog, I wouldn’t give it to that kind of person.”

Luo Ye chuckled and tapped Xing Nong’s forehead: ”You, having grown up in a military family and mostly been around servicemen and their families, would find her unforgivable.

In fact, such daughters-in-law are not uncommon. If the elderly lady had only one son, it wouldn’t be this way. With multiple sons, daughters-in-law inevitably compete. The elderly lady can’t treat everyone equally. Even if she did, everyone would have their own agendas and still feel shortchanged.

The sons and daughters-in-law bringing the elderly lady to the hospital shows that they still care about her. Some children, when their parents reach this age and suffer fractures, might just leave them to recover at home.

If they recover, it’s good luck; if not, they endure. Talking about it, this family’s children are not the best but not the worst either. Don’t be angry, be good.”

”From this perspective, what’s the point of having children?” Xing Nong felt dejected.

”Buddy, everyone has different standards. You need to learn to think from others’ perspectives; that way, you’ll have fewer troubles,” Luo Ye sighed. ”Of course, I can’t stand such children, but what can I do? Lecture the elderly lady’s children?

Not to mention whether we have the right to do that, the main thing is, by doing so, the first to be annoyed might just be the elderly lady herself. Family matters are not easily understood by outsiders.”

Xing Nong took a deep breath: ”Alright, let’s not dwell on their matters anymore.”

”That’s more like it. Smile.” Just as Xing Nong’s mouth stretched into a smile, Luo Ye popped a grape into it: ”Sweeten your mouth, sweeten your heart.”

Qu Yue, who had been listening intently, looked earnestly towards Luo Ye: ”Luoluo, it’s quite a coincidence today. I’ve been contemplating recently about allocating 10% of Liangyou’s profits to set up a nursing home. I planned to clear my thoughts and discuss it with you later.

Just a moment ago, I made up my mind. We are going to do this, not impulsively or blindly being kind.

I plan to take some time to understand the details thoroughly and develop feasible and effective rules. I hope we can do our best to help some lonely elderly people. I believe you would agree, right?”

Luo Ye seriously replied, ”I agree, but before setting it up, you must think it through. I don’t have time to be involved, and Fu Mo is competing for the position as the heir of the Fu Family and may not be able to help much. You are already carrying two burdens and still learning. Adding another one, can you handle it?

Running a nursing home isn’t like other businesses; once started, you must do everything to sustain it. Otherwise, not only will the initial intention not be realized, but it could also hurt more elderly people’s feelings, and it would have been better not to have started at all.”

Qu Yue was unusually earnest: ”I’ve thought about it; the worst scenario would be that the number of residents in the nursing home can’t increase, and we always rely on 10% of Liangyou’s profits to survive. We’ll just take it as performing our modest duty to reduce the number of lonely elderly people in the world.”

”As long as you’ve thought it through,” Luo Ye looked at Tang Luo: ”Tangtang, it’s rare for Boss Qu to have this intention. I and Star Manipulating Moonlight are constrained by discipline, unfortunately. Please help him more.”

Tang Luo nodded: ”No problem. But Mr. Qu, have you encountered something? Not that I doubt you, but at your age and from the kind of family you were born into, it would normally be difficult to pay attention to such matters.”

Qu Yue sighed: ”My mentor Luo Xuejie is from the suburbs, 35 years old, single. To facilitate teaching, he has always lived in the graduate building.

At night, I often go to him for advice on some issues and have noticed his habit. At eight o’clock every night, he kneels in front of his grandfather’s photo, bowing three times with a solemn expression.

Eventually, out of curiosity, I asked him why. Generally, when people reminisce about an elder in their family, they just look at the photo sometimes, perhaps pray on the 1st and 15th of each lunar month. His action seemed rather excessive.

He told me that he was an orphan picked up by his grandfather who, due to poverty, never married. After adopting him, his grandfather spent his whole life nurturing him. Even in his sixties, he still worked part-time in factories. He cherished his grandfather and wanted to start working to support him after completing his undergraduate studies, to give him a peaceful retirement.

However, his grandfather insisted he continue his studies, saying that he named him Luo Xuejie, meaning ’to become a distinguished scholar,’ because his greatest regret was not being able to study properly. He hoped his grandson could fulfill this dream for him.”
