Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 359: Chapter 210: Bluffing

Ye Mo hesitated for a moment, then decided to give Luo Ye a heads-up in advance, ”Captain Jiang revealed that Vice Chairman Lin specifically proposed that Hang Menglin and I serve as instructors and advisors, training the selected personnel. Currently, this matter is in discussion.”

”Vice Chairman Lin is the one who supports Hang Menglin, right?”

”Yes, originally Director Lei and Captain Jiang wanted to strongly oppose it, but then they thought, her craziness might actually help bring the trainees together, and the training effect might not be too bad after all.

And with me watching over, they feel more assured. Luo Ye, to defeat Hang Menglin, the best way is to constantly exceed her expectations.

Actually, for you, she is a perfect whetstone. She’s unreasonable, cold, hard, stubborn, but she doesn’t play tricks; everything is straightforward and out in the open.

Why does Vice Chairman Lin like her? It’s not that Vice Chairman Lin really can’t discern right from wrong, he wants someone who can act as a whetstone in the military.

The soldiers trained by her are tougher and more resilient than others. Of course, nobody likes Hang Menglin, but so what? If the military gains talents, they naturally won’t dismiss her. This was also gradually figured out by Boss Ye and me during our casual chat.

Honestly speaking, if Boss Ye were the chief instructor, he would also train everyone fiercely, but he would feel for you, and that’s an undeniable fact.

Just like yesterday, he punished you, but he felt even worse than you did. If he has to watch you suffer every day, could he remain calm?”

”Brother Ye, aren’t you exaggerating a bit?” Luo Ye’s face blushed slightly.

Ye Mo gave a bitter smile: ”No exaggeration. I’m empathizing with how others would feel. If it weren’t for not wanting you to be wronged, I wouldn’t have taken this chief instructor position.”

”Brother Ye!” Luo Ye playfully chided, her face reddening further.

”Alright, alright, no more teasing. Let’s talk serious. If you don’t like to be honed by her, Captain Jiang said he could make an exception to let you opt out of the selection, and he’d recruit you personally.”

Luo Ye pouted: ”Cut it out, Uncle Jiang is just trying to provoke me. If I went there, who would accept me? Is he kidding?”

”He really knows you well.” Ye Mo started laughing. ”Though, he did say you would be the first person to genuinely impress Hang Menglin!”

”Me?” Luo Ye pointed at her own nose. ”Impress Hang Menglin?”

Ye Mo nodded: ”Exactly!”

”Spare me, I would have to become Mei Chaofeng to do that...” Luo Ye feigned despair.

”Silly girl!” Ye Mo chuckled and ruffled Luo Ye’s hair. ”You’re quite the character. By the way, let me tell you in advance, leadership will come inspect the site and observe the selection on the 30th. Everyone will get a day off on the 1st to relax. You can plan ahead!”

”Really?” Luo Ye was delighted: ”They have such humane arrangements? Just the other day, little uncle called saying he found a little aunt for me, planning to get married by year’s end. I can just take this chance to go see.”

”Taking this day off also indirectly tells you how tough the training will be. If you’re determined, give it your all during the selection. Give Grandpa a big present; he’ll definitely be happy.”

”Don’t worry, I’ll do my best!” Luo Ye glanced at the time and sprang up: ”It’s almost mealtime, I need to rush back; I can’t fall into the hands of female Yama.”

”Little Ye’er, where are you going to eat?” As she watched the small figure dash away, Mrs. Ye came out of the kitchen chasing after her, but Ye Mo caught her: ”Mom, during training, except for Saturdays and Sundays, cadets are required to eat in the cafeteria. Only under special circumstances, like last time when Ye’er was on sick leave, can exceptions be made.”

Mrs. Ye looked dejected: ”Joining the military isn’t something girls should do, not even allowing them to eat outside, really now, I even made Little Ye’er’s favorite steamed millet dumplings.”

Ye Mo put an arm around Mom’s shoulders: ”Let today’s be a treat for me then, Mom can make more for Little Ye’er on Saturday and Sunday. We can’t let her eat then immediately go get punished, right?”

”That’s true. It wouldn’t be good if she ends up with a distended stomach.” Mrs. Ye suddenly slapped her head: ”In the military, do they start training right after eating?”

”Unless during special training periods, normally they don’t. The military is also humane; if everyone ended up ruining their health, that would be putting the cart before the horse.”

”That’s good to hear. I haven’t asked you in detail before; you scared me.” Mrs. Ye patted her son’s belly: ”It’d be a shame if someone so young ended up with a load of ailments, we can’t let that happen to Little Ye’er.”
