Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 378: Chapter 221: Counter-Flirting

Considering that the midday family banquet was overcrowded and too solemn, Luo Ye, Xing Nong, and Yaoguang were driven to S University by the Wen Family’s chauffeur at 10 a.m.

She had to thump her chest and swear to Grandma that she’d return to the Wen Family for the reunion dinner before 5 p.m. to be allowed out, otherwise, the old lady was resolute in not letting her go.

Little Pumpkin and Wen Ke also thought about slipping away but were frightened back by Mr. Wen’s icy stare. Considering it, if Wen Ke and Little Pumpkin left too, the Liang family would probably feel that the Wen Family didn’t value them.

The car was spacious, with Xing Nong comfortably resting her legs on Yaoguang, leaning against Luo Ye, swinging her arms complainingly, ”They say love is a mystery, and it truly is. Look at Liang Huaping, not only is he not foolish, he’s quite clever. From what he said, he clearly understands the Instructor’s personality, but why can’t he just get out of his mess? Why, why...”

”Waiting for you to come rescue him.” Luo Ye slapped her hand away, ”Behave yourself. Look at you now, do you even look like a girl?”

”Lu Lu that brat is so insincere. He agreed to hang out this morning and then he bails. When I see him in the afternoon, I’m definitely going to give that kid a good talking-to.” Xing Nong’s arms continued to flail.

”You really believe Lu Lu when he was just making excuses to be lazy this morning?” Luo Ye tapped Xing Nong’s head, ”Are you delusional? If it were you, with such an important thing happening at a classmate’s home, would you run over there?”

”Why should Little Pumpkin tell him the truth anyway? Annoying!”

”Even if Little Pumpkin is mischievous, he wouldn’t dare mess around at a time like this. The fact that he invited Lu Lu over in the afternoon is already giving you a lot of face. Stop complaining.”

”Fine, fine, I’m just itching for some fun.” Xing Nong reached out to pinch Luo Ye’s cheek but was dodged, then tried to pinch Yaoguang and missed as well, grimacing, ”See, you both won’t let me tease you.”

The chauffeur Wen Bao, whose face was usually expressionless, now wore a hint of a smile. He was an orphan adopted by Mr. Wen, who took the Wen surname, favored martial arts over literature.

He dropped out of high school as he couldn’t continue his studies and learned to drive. With his undying loyalty and first-rate hand-to-hand combat skills, he became Mr. Wen’s personal driver, and being assigned to Luo Ye indirectly indicated her importance in Mr. Wen’s heart.

As the car neared S University, Wen Bao glanced at the three whispering in the back, cleared his throat and said, ”Second Miss, which building are we headed to?”

Xing Nong sat up straight, ”Wow, you finally spoke. We were just guessing whether you would drive silently the whole way.”

Wen Bao’s face twitched with a smirk (probably what he considered a smile), ”Sorry, I don’t like talking much. Second Miss, should I take a turn?”

Luo Ye irresponsibly answered, ”I don’t know. The place we’re going is Building East 12, but I’m not sure where Building East 12 is located.”

”I know.” Wen Bao nodded and steered the car to the right.

Arriving at Building 12, they drew the curious stares of many students. In the year 2000, it wasn’t rare to see students picked up by cars, but it was common for wealthy young men to pick up their girlfriends, so everyone was more curious whether this was a parent or a rich young man.

”Luo Ye, I hate you!”

A bewildered Luo Ye watched Qi Qianqian run away. What was going on? She just got out of the car, and the girl ran over to scream at her and then — and then cried and ran away.

Luo Ye looked uncertainly at Xing Nong and Yaoguang: ”I didn’t see wrong, nor hear wrong, right?”

”Right!” Both of them nodded like pecking hens.

Luo Ye curled her lips, ”It’s weird, whatever. If she wants to be hysterical, let her be. Let’s go find Tangtang and give her a scare.”

It was convenient to use the dormitory’s phone since mobiles were confiscated. After the selection ended, Luo Ye had called Tang Luo to tell her they would come around 1 p.m., just to let her and Qu Yue know—those two lazybones might still be nesting.

When they entered the dorm, they were stopped by the gatekeeper, who said no men were allowed inside—referring to Yaoguang, with her buzz cut, men’s casual clothes, and sports shoes, not to mention her suntanned face thanks to the recent military training. It would be an injustice to guess she was anything but a man.

After some explanation and letting the gatekeeper examine Yaoguang’s neck, they were finally let in, while the gatekeeper muttered, ”What kind of society is this, men don’t look like men, women don’t look like women...”

”215, this one right here.” An irritated Yaoguang knocked on the door first.

The door opened to reveal a white expanse. The three of them looked closely and saw that the woman who answered the door was completely nude, not a thread on her. The three were frozen for a moment, unsure how to react.

”Why let a handsome guy come up today? They usually don’t allow men inside, what happened today?” The woman was unashamed, striking an S pose, ”Handsome, what do you think of my figure?”

”Very... very nice. We are looking for Tang... Tang Luo.” Yaoguang’s face turned red with effort to get out a complete sentence, feeling embarrassed by such an open girl, even among fellow girls.

Xing Nong, having recovered, hid her face on Luo Ye’s shoulder, giggling non-stop.

”Tangtang, the three of us are here, waiting for you downstairs, hurry up!” Luo Ye shouted, and then dragged Xing Nong and Yaoguang to run down quickly.

Once in the car and the doors closed, Xing Nong clapped her hands on Yaoguang and burst into laughter, ”You said you wanted to tease pretty girls, but instead, you got teased! Hahaha...”

”Laugh... laugh yourself to death!” Yaoguang fiercely pinched Xing Nong, feeling embarrassed about her own behavior just moments ago. She should have hooked her finger under the other’s chin and flirted back.

Luo Ye cleared his throat loudly: ”S University, truly extraordinary. It’s a place for the bold and the brave. Actually, we should go in to see if Tangtang is the same.”

”What bad things are you saying about me?” Tang Luo squeezed into the car, her face full of teasing smiles: ”What, got scared?”

Xing Nong stopped laughing: ”Tang Baozi, tell me the truth, do all the people in your dorm dress like that?”

Tang Luo slapped her hand: ”Get out of here, what nonsense are you spouting? She belongs to the Naked Living Clan. In her family, including her parents, as soon as they get home, they don’t wear clothes. The floors at home are covered with thick carpets, and the chairs and stools are wrapped with thick velvety materials.

She mentioned that this habit was formed while her parents were studying abroad, influenced by foreigners. They wanted to change it after returning to China but didn’t. She’s never worn clothes at home since she was born. So, after coming to the dorm, except for the first day, she’s been naked ever since.”

”Question!” Yaoguang raised her hand.

”Go ahead.”

”What happens when her grandparents or her Grandma and Grandpa visit her home? What about guests? And..., isn’t it awkward facing her dad?”

”The old people are long gone, guests are only entertained outside the home, they never invite people over, and as for whether it’s awkward with her dad, nobody had the nerve to ask. I guess not?”

”I think her parents should send her abroad to study. Cough, in China, this behavior is quite astonishing.”

”Luoluo, that requires money, you know. Her parents are not good at socializing, and the money they make just suffices to support her studying in China. We’ve all gotten used to it, anyway. The female dorms never allow boys to go up.”

”Cough! Cough! Cough...” Wen Bao, who was being ignored by everyone, turned red-faced, and accidentally choked on his saliva, his face swelling into a purple eggplant.

Luo Ye subtly stuck out his tongue, realizing he’d been happily chatting and had forgotten about him. He quickly changed the subject: ”Let’s go find Qu Yue; we’ll head directly to Miaomiao’s place after dinner.”

Tang Luo glanced at the time: ”Qianqian should be coming down soon. I didn’t get to see Miaomiao last time, just talked on the phone a couple of times. She wants to go as well, she’s putting on makeup.”

Luo Ye nudged Tang Luo: ”You go bring over Mr. Qu, our big group is too conspicuous.”

”Alright.” Tang Luo smiled mysteriously: ”You all won’t guess who’s clinging to him, hahaha...”

Luo Ye’s mind flashed: ”Qi Qianqian!”

Tang Luo looked surprised: ”Luoluo, how did you know? Mr. Qu spilled the beans?”

”Nah, just guessed it. Just now, when I got out of the car, Qi Qianqian came over, yelled at me, and ran away crying. Combining that with your mischievous laugh just now, isn’t the answer obvious?”

”Sis is impressed!” Tang Luo gave a thumbs-up: ”I bet Qi Qianqian, nine times out of ten, is sticking around their dorm again and not leaving. Mr. Qu, with his 2-meter-long face, can’t get rid of Princess Qianqian. Truly a great tale of our school.”

Luo Ye punched her in the back: ”Go on, stop blabbering!”

”Mr. Qu would be thrilled to know how eager you are.” Tang Luo said as she darted out.

In less than three minutes, Qu Yue rushed over like a whirlwind, leaving Tang Luo far behind, and even further back, followed by Qi Qianqian.

”Three baddies, still playing tricks?” Qu Yue, panting, opened the car door, scolding the three, but his gaze stayed on Luo Ye’s face, reluctant to leave.

Xing Nong curled her lip: ”Boss Qu, are your eyes glued to Luoluo’s face? Can’t you spare us a bit of attention? It’s really heartbreaking!”

”Go!” Luo Ye slapped Xing Nong’s hand, and smiled at Qu Yue: ”Boss Qu, you’re quite the celebrity now. I’m getting shot even when I’m lying down.”

”Ah?” Qu Yue looked puzzled.

”You jerk, you left me eight feet behind.” Tang Luo, out of breath from running, kicked Qu Yue in the shin.

Qu Yue winced and squatted down to rub his leg: ”Grandma, can’t you be gentler? Last time you went to GF’s concert, you didn’t call me, and now you have the nerve to be violent towards me. Be a decent human being.”

”Here I come, Luo Ye, Xing Nong, Yaoguang.” Xia Qianqian, who had finished her makeup, hopped over, surprised to see Qu Yue’s twisted expression: ”Mr. Qu, what happened?”

”He’s got a bad stomach, ignore him, get in the car.” Tang Luo pushed Xia Qianqian to the last row of seats and took a seat herself, about to close the door when Qu Yue hurriedly stood up and squeezed in: ”Tangtang’s getting more and more outrageous. I’m going to complain to Fu Mo later!”

”What’s that got to do with him!” Tang Luo rolled her eyes: ”Hey, your follower is here.”
