BRUSHSTROKES OF REVENGE

The moment Erwin Bright’s announcement ended, the Bright Auditorium remained suspended in stunned silence. The air itself seemed to hold its breath. Missy stood motionless at the center of the stage, her face drained of all color. The lights that once flattered her now revealed every crack in her composure. Her mind was blank—utterly blank. Every lie she had told, every design she had stolen, every ounce of reputation she had built through deceit—all of it had collapsed before millions of witnesses.

She looked around desperately, searching for a single sympathetic face. There were none. The audience’s eyes were cold, filled with disgust and disbelief. Even the livestream comments, once her fortress of adoration, had turned into a storm of condemnation.

Her breathing quickened. ”N-No...” she whispered, her voice trembling. ”This isn’t happening... it can’t...”

Her vision blurred. The world tilted.

Then—

Thud.

Missy collapsed onto the stage.

Emily screamed, her voice slicing through the silence. ”MISSY!”

Drake rushed forward, panic breaking through his usual arrogance. ”Missy!”

Jagger’s expression hardened. ”What happened?”

Raymond frowned deeply, his voice low and commanding. ”Call the doctor.”

Drake lifted the unconscious Missy into his arms, his movements frantic. Emily followed, her face pale with fear. Jagger glared at Mindy before turning away, his jaw tight with unspoken fury. Raymond lingered for a moment longer. His eyes met Mindy’s across the stage. His lips parted slightly, as though he wanted to speak—but no words came. In the end, he turned and followed his family out of the hall.

As the Hawthornes disappeared backstage, the tension broke.

Ana crossed her arms, her tone sharp and merciless. ”Someone should check whether she fainted because of low blood sugar...” She paused, her lips curving into a smirk. ”...or because the truth has an allergy to her.”

Laughter erupted across the auditorium. Even Selena Marwin couldn’t suppress a smile. Layla covered her face, shoulders shaking with restrained laughter. Wade gave Ana a thumbs-up. ”As expected of you.”

The laughter rolled through the hall like a cleansing wave, washing away the last traces of tension.

When the noise finally subsided, the host cleared her throat awkwardly. ”Well... that was certainly... eventful.”

The audience laughed again.

”Still,” she continued, smiling, ”I’m happy that justice, although delayed, was finally served.”

Thunderous applause followed.

The host turned toward the judging panel. ”Shall we proceed with the final scoring?”

Before anyone could respond, a calm voice interrupted.

”Excuse me.”

Every head turned.

Mindy stood at the center of the stage, serene and composed, her posture regal beneath the soft glow of the lights.

”I’m afraid,” she said quietly, ”I haven’t finished my presentation yet.”

The host blinked, startled. Then she laughed lightly. ”I completely forgot! So did everyone else!”

The audience chuckled. Jonathan Harper leaned back, amused. Erwin Bright smiled. ”Miss Wilson,” he said warmly, ”the stage is still yours.”

Mindy inclined her head. ”Thank you.”

She stepped forward, her movements graceful, deliberate. ”My final design,” she said, ”is called Rebirth. But before I explain it, I have one small request.”

She turned toward the staff. ”Could you please bring my previous three gowns onto the stage?”

The audience exchanged puzzled glances. Within minutes, the staff carefully carried out the three gowns—First Dawn, Phoenix Veil, and Eternal Promise. They stood beside Rebirth, four masterpieces gleaming under the lights.

Lucy leaned toward Adam, whispering, ”What is she planning?”

Adam’s eyes narrowed. ”Something no one’s ever done before.”

Jonathan Harper leaned forward, curiosity gleaming in his eyes. Even Alexander Bright, who had seen decades of fashion history, looked intrigued.

Mindy smiled faintly. ”A real designer,” she said softly, ”never creates only one dress. She creates an entire world.”

Her voice carried through the hall, gentle yet commanding. ”Every creation can give birth to another.”

She approached First Dawn and, with delicate precision, removed a single embroidered rose from its bodice. Gasps rippled through the audience.

Then she moved to Phoenix Veil and detached a layered phoenix feather from its sleeve.

Finally, she turned to Eternal Promise and carefully unpinned the flowing silver vines that adorned its waist.

The audience murmured in confusion.

”What is she doing?” someone whispered. ”She’s taking them apart!”

”She’s destroying them!” another gasped.

But Mindy’s expression remained calm, her movements fluid and sure. Every motion was purposeful, every stitch deliberate.

Needle. Thread. Scissors. Pins.

Her hands moved like music—swift, rhythmic, mesmerizing.

The rose became a shoulder ornament. The phoenix feathers transformed into sculptural sleeves. The silver vines flowed across the waist like living branches.

The skirt changed shape entirely. The cape vanished, reappearing as a new silhouette.

Her fingers danced across the fabric, weaving fragments of her past creations into something entirely new.

The audience watched in stunned silence.

Twenty minutes passed.

When she finally placed the last pin, she stepped back.

The hall fell utterly still.

Before them stood not a modified gown, nor a repaired one, nor a redesigned version.

It was something else entirely.

It was Genesis.

The gown shimmered under the lights, ethereal and alive. The fabric seemed to breathe, shifting between soft ivory, blush pink, lavender, and pale gold as if it captured the colors of dawn itself. The bodice was a masterpiece of intricate embroidery—silver vines intertwined with crystal beading that caught the light like dew on morning petals.

On one shoulder bloomed a single, ornate rose—the same rose from First Dawn, now reborn as a radiant emblem of creation. Its petals, sculpted from silk and threaded with gold, glowed faintly under the stage lights, symbolizing the birth of something new.

The sleeves were breathtaking—dramatic, sculptural layers inspired by phoenix feathers, cascading from her shoulders in a gradient of cream to coral. Each feather shimmered with iridescent undertones, giving the illusion of movement, as though the gown itself were alive, breathing, transforming.

Around the waist, the silver vines from Eternal Promise wrapped organically, flowing like rivers of light. They curved and intertwined, forming a natural corset that accentuated the gown’s ethereal silhouette.

The skirt was a vision of otherworldly beauty—voluminous layers of sheer tulle and organza that floated like mist. The ombré shades deepened from pale ivory at the waist to soft lavender and blush at the hem, creating the illusion of a sunrise blooming across the fabric.

Delicate floral embroidery scattered across the skirt like a garden awakening after winter, each petal glimmering faintly with crystal dust. The gown seemed to glow from within, as though it carried its own light—a celestial radiance that transcended fabric and thread.

It was innocence, strength, warmth, and confidence woven into one.

It was creation itself.

It was Genesis.

The audience could not breathe.

Jonathan Harper rose slowly from his seat, his eyes wide with disbelief. ”I have judged fashion competitions for over forty years,” he said, his voice trembling. ”But today... I witnessed history.”

Selena Marwin’s eyes shimmered with tears. ”This,” she whispered, ”is art.”

Erwin Bright forgot to speak. His mouth opened, then closed again, as though words had abandoned him.

Lucy stared, speechless. Adam gripped the armrest of his wheelchair, his knuckles white. Then, slowly, a genuine smile curved his lips. ”So this,” he murmured, ”is the difference between us.”

Backstage, Ana jumped up and down, unable to contain her excitement. ”I knew she’d shock everyone!”

Layla’s eyes sparkled with pride. ”She didn’t just win,” she said softly. ”She changed everything.”

Wade crossed his arms, a rare smile tugging at his lips. ”That’s our little sister.”

Then the applause began.

It started with a single clap. Then another. And another.

Within seconds, the entire auditorium was on its feet.

A standing ovation.

The applause thundered through the hall, echoing like a heartbeat. It went on and on, five minutes of unbroken admiration.

The livestream exploded.

[THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!]

[She created a new gown in front of everyone!!]

[She’s a genius!!]

[Maria Wilson’s daughter!!]

[No... she’s Mindy Wilson!!]

Mindy bowed gracefully, her expression serene. Then she turned and walked off the stage.

Before she could take another step, Ana threw her arms around her. ”You did it!”

Layla joined in, laughing through tears. Wade ruffled her hair. ”I’m starting to feel sorry for anyone who has to compete against you.”

Their laughter filled the backstage corridor, bright and unrestrained.

Far away, inside Wilson Estate, Emma sat before the television, tears streaming down her cheeks. ”My little granddaughter...” she whispered.

Beside her, Jasper Wilson placed a gentle hand over hers. ”Maria,” he murmured softly, ”you can finally rest peacefully. Our granddaughter has surpassed even our expectations.”

Emma nodded through her tears. ”So proud,” she whispered. ”So very proud.”

Thirty minutes later, the host returned to the stage, holding an envelope. ”Ladies and gentlemen,” she announced, ”the results are in.”

The audience fell silent.

”In first place,” she said, her voice ringing clear, ”with the highest overall score and the unanimous choice of the judging panel—Miss Mindy Wilson of LUXT Design!”

The hall erupted.

Confetti rained from above, shimmering like stardust. The applause was deafening.

Mindy accepted the trophy with quiet grace. Lucy approached first, extending her hand. ”You deserved it,” she said sincerely. ”I hope we compete again.”

Mindy smiled. ”I’ll be looking forward to it.”

Adam rolled his wheelchair forward, Steven behind him. ”You’ve earned my respect,” he said simply. ”You truly are extraordinary.”

Mindy’s smile softened. ”So are you,” she replied. ”I look forward to seeing you standing someday.”

Adam’s eyes flickered. He nodded once. ”I’ll remember that.”

As the celebration continued, Layton approached with Draven at his side. For a moment, the noise around them faded.

”Congratulations,” Layton said quietly. ”You were amazing.”

Draven grinned. ”Seriously, I’ve never seen anything like that.”

Mindy inclined her head politely. ”Thank you.”

Then she looked at Layton, her tone turning light, almost teasing. ”Aren’t you supposed to be taking care of your girlfriend? She fainted from heartbreak. You should go lend her your shoulder.”

Ana burst out laughing. ”Maybe carry her princess-style too.”

Layla added, ”Just don’t forget to bring tissues.”

Even Wade chuckled.

Draven bit his lip, trying not to laugh.

Layton’s expression darkened. ”I’m congratulating you,” he said evenly. ”And for the last time, Missy is not my girlfriend. How many times do I have to say it?”

Mindy folded her arms. ”Layton,” she said softly, ”you can fool everyone else, but not me. I still have all those photographs. And six months ago, you believed her over me. So...” Her voice cooled. ”...I don’t really care what you say anymore.”

Layton fell silent. For once, he had no answer.

Mike stepped forward, his tone respectful. ”Congratulations, Miss Mindy. You truly deserve this victory.”

Mindy smiled warmly. ”Thank you, Mike.”

Layton glanced at Mike, then at Mindy. For some reason, the polite smile she gave Mike felt brighter than any she had ever given him. Without another word, he turned and walked away. Draven sighed and followed.

As soon as they were gone, Ana doubled over laughing. ”He got defeated without even arguing!”

Layla nodded. ”That’s progress.”

Wade clapped his hands once. ”Enough drama. Our champion deserves a celebration.”

The three surrounded Mindy, their laughter echoing through the hall.

Before they could leave, Steven hurried over. ”Miss Mindy,” he said, slightly breathless, ”Mr. Adam Gray would like to invite you to lunch. He wishes to thank you personally.”

Mindy thought for a moment. ”Tell him... this Sunday. At lunchtime.”

Steven nodded. ”I’ll let him know.”

As he turned to leave, Mindy added quietly, ”Oh, and tell Mr. Gray something else.”

Steven paused. ”Yes?”

”Until we meet,” she said softly, ”please ask him to be extremely careful. Especially about everything he eats and drinks.”

Steven’s expression turned serious. ”I understand.”

As he walked away, Mindy’s eyes narrowed slightly.

The applause still echoed faintly from the stage, but her mind was already elsewhere.

The game had only just begun.

Because this time, she would not only expose thieves.

She would save someone who never got a second chance in her previous life.

And under the fading lights of the Bright Auditorium, the gown called Genesis shimmered like the dawn of a new world—proof that creation, once born from truth, could never be stolen.
