Bear School Astartes

Just a three-meter-long axe with a blade almost the size of a person coming down is enough to be horrifying.

But the Shield Axe is clearly not just a weapon of mere physical damage, all those mechanical structures within it aren’t just for show.

The Fierce Jackal Dragon toppled over in front of Wende, the massive axe blade happened to smash its lower jaw.

The once full and mighty lower jawbone was now forcefully smashed crooked and flattened! Flesh was smashed into a pulp, bone spurs from the fractured jawbone protruded from the flesh.

But this was just the prelude to the [Ultra High Energy Attribute Liberation Slash].

As the axe blade struck true, the structures within the Shield Axe began to be unleashed like never before!

The energy previously transmitted from the chopping blade to the large shield was completely released in this attack, with yellow energy lightning crackling in the direction extending from the point of the axe’s strike.

It exploded five times on the Fierce Jackal Dragon’s body.

The energy lightning that extended from the axe blade’s strike sequentially blasted from the dragon’s jaw all the way to its bulging underbelly.

Yellow-green scales burst into splinters from explosions, the skin underneath first seeped blood, then was scorched black by the lightning.

Although the internal organs weren’t exposed, it must have been deeply hurt.

Having executed this move, Wende seemed to gain immense psychological satisfaction, his facial expression as joyful as eating ice cream on a summer day.

But the monster’s vitality was truly terrifyingly strong.

Even with such injuries, the Fierce Jackal Dragon still maintained its mobility and aggressiveness.

The imbalance from losing a significant portion of its tail was finally overcome, its claws randomly scratching and digging into the ground, making a mess of the previously grassy and shrubby land.

But it managed to stand up again.

The Fierce Jackal Dragon’s right forepaw pulled back as if storing energy, and Wende felt this might be the prelude to a claw strike.

But then he thought, this creature’s belly is so big, it can’t possibly reach the front with a swipe.

However, the dragon surprised him in the next instant.

This wasn’t storing energy for a swipe, but to thrust its belly forward.

Its large belly, still containing a Herbivore Dragon’s corpse, thrust forward violently.

At the critical moment, Wende again used the defensive technique from his first encounter with a surprise attack.

He inserted his chopping blade into the large shield, withstood the attack just as the mechanism was about to deform, defending with both mechanical stress and his own body strength.

Maintaining his defensive posture, Wende was pushed back nearly two meters.

But this was already an ideal situation; if he hadn’t maintained his defensive stance, the three to four tons of food in the dragon’s belly might have steamrolled over him.

Yet the Fierce Jackal Dragon’s combo clearly wasn’t over.

Amidst very audible ’glug glug’ sounds, everyone saw the reptile’s throat bulging.

Is this thing about to spit?

Lann, currently at the sideline, didn’t overthink and quickly hugged the tail wound of the Fierce Jackal Dragon, which was next to the twitching and erratically moving muscles of the tail’s severed end.

”Gaffi!”

Lann called out. The Elu Cat, who had been sharpening its blades beside the target, quickly scampered over on all fours.

”Lann, what’s the plan meow?”

The orange cat barely finished asking before it understood by watching Lann’s actions.

Gaffi’s Elu Cat gear, besides the ranged boomerang, also included a pickaxe-like striking hammer.

Now, as Lann gripped the writhing end of the tail, Gaffi immediately grasped its small cat pickaxe, with its sharp end piercing into the thick stump, into the center of the snow-white tailbone.

That was the marrow of the Fierce Jackal Dragon.

Excruciating bone pain and nerve pain instantaneously traveled from the tail through the dragon’s entire spine, straight to the brain!

”Awoo~! Thud.”

In its wail of agony, the Fierce Jackal Dragon couldn’t control its throat muscles well due to the pain, so what it wanted to spit couldn’t travel far.

It almost just dropped by its side.

That was several half-person-sized chunks of meat, all encased in a mass of yellowish-green stomach acid.

As soon as it landed, the soil at the point of impact made a sizzling sound from the acid corrosion, emitting white smoke.

Not to mention the hundreds of pounds of meat chunks; if the Jackal Dragon’s throat muscles had injected them normally, imagine the impact force.

Talking about the stomach acid alone... The Jackal Dragon had only swallowed that unfortunate Herbivore Dragon whole into its stomach for less than five minutes, and it was already decomposed into such sized chunks by the stomach acid.

If this stomach acid splashed onto a person...

Luckily, after this expulsion, the dragon’s rotund belly even shrank from emptiness. It seems it’s out of reserves.

The battle, reaching this point, was essentially settled.

With its stomach cleared out, tail chopped off, jaw broken, and one forelimb injured...

Apart from squashing others with its weight, all the Jackal Dragon’s attack organs were destroyed clean.

Now it was merely struggling in its death throes on its absurdly abundant vitality.

Lann even felt a bit guilty about finishing it off.

Meanwhile, Gaffi was more straightforward — it ran to the severed tail Lann had chopped, inspecting the finely textured muscles and fat on the severed end, occasionally wiping its drool.

Lann heard that being the hunters’ partners, while most Elu Cats had an adventurous spirit and bravery against foes...

But, due to varied personalities, their performances in battle could be quite different.

For example, some loved to face monsters head-on, some liked doing side harassment, while others prioritized the precious monster materials felled by hunters during battle.

Though the materials wouldn’t run away, the Elu Cats’ lively and bouncy nature always made it hard for them to control themselves.

Meaning, while the fight’s still on, the cats might already be collecting materials nearby.

Evidently, Gaffi was one such cat.

Though Wende seemed a bit resentful looking at this, he appeared accustomed to being PUA’d by Gaffi, saying nothing, merely focusing on depleting the remaining life of the Jackal Dragon.

”Lann, can we take this tail away meow!”

Gaffi ran beside Lann, tugging at his pant leg, looking up at him.

Those big watery eyes glimmering brightly. Hard to refuse.

”But is that okay? Don’t you always just harvest monster materials three times here?”

”It’s fine meow! A severed tail counts separately! That’s why everyone loves cutting off tails meow!”

Gaffi waved dismissively, radiating a seasoned aura.

Surprisingly, it made Lann subconsciously nod, ready to follow the ’veteran’s’ instructions.
