Bear School Astartes

Just like the other portals Lann had used before, entering it made his brain swell and ache with the spatial distortion, feeling nauseous enough to vomit.

The sense of time was only a few seconds, and in shock, Lann suddenly felt his body being caught by gravity again.

But unlike the previous sensation of gravity coming from below, now his body seemed to be face down.

Without thinking much, Lann quickly grabbed Triss by his side, twisting his waist.

His strong core muscles allowed him to complete a positional flip in mid-air.

Triss was cradled in his arms, while his back landed on the ground.

The Female Warlock was no longer on fire, but having been burnt by her own magic power from the inside out for half a minute, Lann felt that if she hit the ground again, Triss might actually die.

The Grandmaster Bear School Armor, with its tanned Dragon Race leather and Valerian steel plating, smashed to the ground, yet it didn’t have a hard impact feel.

After the sound of ”thud”, Lann barely felt anything.

”Wooden floor?”

After absorbing the impact of the fall, Lann began to examine his surroundings.

Half wood, half stone structure, with large stones piled up to form the main building, inside were wooden spiral handrails, a spiral staircase, and platforms.

On the platform were a few bags of unground wheat, some scattered straw, and hay.

There was no sound of battle cries, no smell of blood or burning, and a giant shadow rhythmically passed through the gaps in the stone walls.

Along with creaking sounds.

It was a windmill.

This should be the tower of a windmill mill.

Suddenly, from a battlefield of endless screams and people red-eyed slaughtering each other, he’d arrived at this quiet windmill mill.

Outside the mill, he could even hear the leisurely and peaceful sounds of chickens, ducks, cats, dogs, cows, and sheep, and faintly smell the heavy scent of these animals mixed with the earth and grain.

The most tragic scenes in the world were only one step away from this tranquil pastoral landscape, across a portal.

This intense and abrupt contrast stunned Lann for two seconds.

The war was... over.

He suddenly truly felt this reality.

Afterwards, his shoulders slowly loosened, and he let out a long breath, as if trying to relax the tension he’d been holding onto during this time.

”Ugh...”

A low murmur of pain from Triss in his arms brought Lann back to focus immediately.

”Assessing injuries... judged as severe burns, with a burn area of about 45%, urgently needs attention!”

Mentos immediately scanned Triss’s condition and provided an injury assessment report.

Burns, probably one of the most painful types of injuries.

The uncontrolled magic fire had tormented Triss’s flesh severely.

The burn itself isn’t much, but the deadly part of burns lies in the complications and infections caused by large areas of skin loss.

Without skin, it’s like the immune system fighting bacteria without armor on the battlefield.

Lann had just come off the battlefield, so he could responsibly say: going to war without armor is no different from directly putting your hand into a meat grinder.

And the crystal cultivation project group driven by Lann had long since completed the cultivation technology for the skin.

Even a full-body skin graft for Triss is nothing.

Now, he just needed to ensure Triss didn’t suffer severe infection before getting to Airetusa for treatment.

And the effect, many Warlock’s Magic Potions and Spirit Medicines can achieve.

”I need to make sure you don’t die from germs right now. This is your safe haven, right Triss? Where is your Spirit Medicine box?”

Outside the window, the windmill blades regularly cast sunlight indoors, flashing. In the Tyndall effect, countless fine dust could be seen flying in the columns of sunlight.

Normally, this should be a beautiful and serene scene, but around a burn patient, these motes are all scalp-tingling sources of contamination!

At this moment, Triss was delirious, being tormented by the loss of skin, and kept uttering low cries of misery.

Lann directly activated the Demon Hunter’s senses and [Spirit Sight], surveying his surroundings.

In the superhuman physical and energy dual vision, he quickly found Triss’s secret compartment mounted on the wall, discovering a small box containing the Magic Elixir.

He opened the lid, only to curse. All the bottles looked the same, and he didn’t recognize the mysterious symbols sealing them.

Every Warlock has their own set of symbol codes.

”Triss, which bottle?”

”None of them works.” She groaned with difficulty. ”I can’t... I can’t drink.”

”What? Why?”

”I... am allergic!”

”You? A Female Warlock allergic to Magic Potions?”

”I’m allergic!” she cried in exasperation and despair, ”always have been! I can’t drink Spirit Medicines! I can use them to treat others, but I have to rely on a Protective Talisman myself.”

”Where’s your Protective Talisman?”

As soon as he asked, Lann realized himself.

In the battle at Mushroom Mountain, no Warlock could hold back; to survive, all assets had to be used.

And currently Triss, the uncontrolled magic fire has burnt her body and all belongings.

After a moment of contemplation, Lann walked back to Triss’s side.

”Where is this safe haven located? Is there an herbalist nearby?”

”This is the outskirts of Maribo, what are you going to do?”

”I’m going to make some antibacterial gel to cover your burnt skin, otherwise you won’t last till Airetusa due to infection.”

Having said that, Lann gently held the hand of Triss, who was clutching him tightly, alleviating the pain on the Female Warlock’s face.

She’s currently suffering and lacking a sense of security; ideally, someone should stay by her side to take care of her. But unfortunately, in the sanitary conditions here, just watching Triss will certainly lead to death.

In Triss’s panicking and reluctant gaze, Lann let go of her hand, turned around, and went downstairs.

”Mentos, establish a task.”

”Please, sir.”

A stream of data began refreshing on the retina, and Lann began setting up the task skillfully.

”We need to come up with a formula for antibacterial gel on-site; I’ll provide the concept, and you simulate the medicinal effects.”

”Task established, computing resource allocation... expected completion in two hours.”

Creating formulae temporarily with alchemical knowledge, this ironically sounds like a fantasy, but both Lann and Mentos had become highly accustomed to such things.

Not to mention the Demon Hunter and Female Warlock who had already left the battlefield, the dust had settled and the battle of Mushroom Mountain was already in its ending phase.

At the place where Triss and Lann disappeared, the two King Commanders of the Northern Alliance Army, along with the remaining Warlocks, gathered there.
