Bear School Astartes

Veltrest and Vizimir initially hesitated whether to make public Lann’s actions in this war.

But this hesitance was simply their initial shock, where emotions clouded their judgment.

Once rationality prevailed, they immediately realized a fact—

Can anyone suppress this unique Demon Hunter, along with his deeds and merits?

The Northern Alliance Army is not a force that takes orders from any single person; this grand coalition is assembled by the four major northern countries together!

Each troop, each commander, even the busy advisors, clerks, and functionaries in the command center are all mixed together.

If you want to hide it, you must be able to do so.

Not even mentioning the prior battle phases, just consider the final Mushroom Mountain siege, which involved fifty to sixty thousand participants.

Who couldn’t see the exaggerated, almost theatrical combat prowess of that Demon Hunter?

How to silence the mouths of fifty to sixty thousand people? At least Vizimir and Veltrest didn’t even dare to entertain the thought.

This great battle itself will inevitably be a colorful Chapter recorded in history.

Countless scholars and students in the future will devote their lives to studying this war, which is foreseeable.

Wanting to ignore the Demon Hunter’s feats means deceiving not just tens of thousands but is a full-on deception of history.

Otherwise, how to explain how the severely disadvantaged Northern Alliance Army suddenly won? Will historians write in books for the public that ’Meretelli appeared in spirit’?

Thus choosing to be comprehensive became very simple.

No concealment, no distortion, Veltrest and Vizimir presented complete information to the secretaries of Yaden and Codwin.

This action signified that everything verifiable regarding Lann’s actions in the war was brought to light.

War is a cruel social activity, but within war, countless heroes and the brilliance of humanity also emerge simultaneously.

The courage, sacrifice, and kindness of countless people ultimately ended the war.

And in this war, unquestionably, a hero emerged as if he walked straight out of the Mythical Era into the modern society.

With the war’s end, commerce and interaction between countries resumed normally, allowing stories to spread.

People will deeply understand that in this world, there is such a person who can combat the most powerful violence in the world with personal strength.

At this level of ’individual’, researchers, courts, and armies will no longer regard him merely as an ’individual’.

Every word and deed of Lann, even his interests and hobbies, will be studied, interpreted, and focused on as a political entity in international relations.

Independent of his personal desires.

Of course, during the spread of these stories, facts may be distorted and twisted.

There will certainly be a fair number of people who disdain it, believing that the battlefield tales were exaggerated by poets with a penchant for hearsay, spreading the words of timid soldiers.

Fabricating an impossible hero.

There certainly will be poets and publishers who think such a person couldn’t exist, but find the story compelling, knowing the North-South war attracts interest, thus embellishing Lann’s performance to seem ’reasonable’ to convince readers and listeners.

No matter how rumors spread, Lann himself probably doesn’t care much anymore.

”Why did you set the safe house here?”

In the countryside of Maribo inside the Mill Tower, Lann quietly asked while distracting Triss’s attention, applying freshly prepared antibacterial gel on new bandages wrapped around Triss’s body.

”Ooh! Sss!”

Triss suppressed her cries of pain.

Skin damaged by burns is highly sensitive, and although Lann aimed for a gentle, pain-free formula during preparation, just the sensation of bandages on burnt skin was painful enough to make Triss seem like a fish flopping on shore.

Bending and tensing her body, eyes wide, breath labored.

After a long time, Triss slowly began to breathe with difficulty.

”Maribo... it’s my hometown; I’ve lived here since childhood.”

Maribo is the second largest city in Temeria, second only to the Capital Vizima, and also the capital of the Maribo Royal Kingdom.

When the Prince of Maribo and Duke of Elrand fought over Temeria’s succession, Alzur released the ’Alzur’s Double Cross’ here twice.

Once to crush Duke of Elrand’s forces, the second reason unknown, only knowing the Saliva Demon summoned by the ’Double Cross’ crushed half of Maribo City, along with Alzur himself.

This is a legendary city, but these legends have little to do with Triss choosing this windmill.

This is merely a flour mill built by villagers between several settlements to save resources, cooperatively constructed and used.

Handling wheat grinding business for various surrounding villages.

When speaking of hometowns, Lann’s hand paused imperceptibly for a moment, then continued smoothly.

”I understand, the security of one’s hometown is unparalleled.”

Finally, the bandages coated with antibacterial gel wrapped all the burnt skin on Triss’s body.

To prevent overheating, Lann did not cover the healthy skin.

The damaged skin lost its ability to dissipate heat and sweat. Nearly fifty percent of Triss’s skin was burnt, making it very difficult for her to dispel body heat.

Thus, Triss ended up just wearing ’bandage attire’.

Her smooth and intact skin was exposed; her injuries didn’t affect her beauty; the bandage instead outlined her elegant figure.

”Drink this.”

Lann brought a wooden bowl to Triss’s lips.

”What is this? I’m allergic...”

”Don’t worry, an entirely natural painkiller; it’s non-addictive and contains no Magic Power, ensuring a good sleep.”

Triss began to sip the painkiller from the bowl.

As Lann continued feeding her, he spoke.

”You must be infected with bacteria or viruses. Exposing such extensive skin damage to the elements for long is unavoidable; my gel only ensures no further pathogen invasion later.”

”I’ll monitor your condition tonight and administer treatment based on symptoms... tonight will be tough, be prepared. Telling you this because mindset influences immune system strength; you need immunity now.”

”In Maribo City, only herbalists help us; the city lacks a Mage who can open portals, all are second-rate at best. They can only set off fireworks or launch fireballs.”

”You need to restore casting concentration quickly and open a portal to Airetusa for subsequent treatment.”

Lann intended to say more, but lying down, Triss exerted herself to gently cover Lann’s mouth.

It was dusk; fiery sunlight entered through tower cracks, rhythmically obscured by the windmill blades outside.

Triss looked pained yet resolute.

”Don’t say... don’t say anymore...”

Lann silently nodded.

Through pain, Triss ’hisses’, but she still clung to Lann’s neck.

The Demon Hunter instinctively held her in his arms.

”Touch me... please...”

Triss murmured.

Lann felt her fever rise, temperature soaring.

Infection had begun.

No better option, Lann removed his gloves, armguards, using more skin contact to alleviate her pain.

”Is this troubling you, Lann?”

Triss suddenly said.

”After all, my body is so disfigured now. Even the most desperate widower wouldn’t desire a woman with burnt skin; I’m no longer beautiful, I... I don’t attract you anymore.”

”No! Let go, don’t hold me... don’t...”

Her voice panicked, frightened, even feverish. But it was undoubtedly filled with anxiety and shame.

This wasn’t the Triss Merigold Lann knew.

But Lann, empathically silent, simply pressed his body closer to hers, easing her suffering.
