Bear School Astartes

Tishaya bent down and took out the stone that Lann had brought back from the Ancient Greece world from the drawer of the dean’s desk.

The stone made a pleasant dull thud as it struck the mahogany desktop.

This stone, with its surface showing unknown patterns, was once connected to a divine artifact from the Ancient Greece world—the Anka Cross.

Then they stimulated each other, triggering an operation mode of considerable power for both.

The chilling aura emitted by the stone is now being suppressed by a circle of glowing Magic Shield, with almost no impact.

The Anka Cross is currently kept by Lann, for the divine artifact of the Greek World is essentially a high-precision technological device left by previous civilizations.

Lann dared not conduct research on such a technological device when its principles are unknown.

However, this stone still carries remnants of Chaos Magic Power, even causing the demon hunter’s silver pendant to tremble continuously at one point.

As a professional match, Lann handed it over to Margaret, hoping she could research something out of it.

And now, obviously, Margaret’s talent in the art of spells is indeed remarkable.

”The patterns on this are actually magic runes, and they bear a significant resemblance to the runes of the elves.”

Tishaya was speaking as if lecturing students.

Lann, sitting across from the desk in an obviously enlarged and reinforced chair, listened with his head propped up.

”According to the elven magic knowledge we’ve collected, we’ve indeed traced an evolution line of their runes, and the runes on this stone might even be older than the earliest elven runes we know of.”

”And the technology on it is largely connected with the Sphere Convergence. As the Lady of the Lake said, this is a teleportation beacon capable of world traversal.”

”It seems the elves have kept many secrets from everyone... They are different from other races in this world, neither indigenous like the dwarfs nor unfortunate humans brought from their homes by Sphere Convergence.”

”They mastered the technology to traverse worlds and came to this world voluntarily.”

Lann nodded without surprise.

”The Lady of the Lake told me that the elves’ technology had lapsed and regressed, causing them to become what they are now.”

Tishaya extended a slender, graceful finger and pushed the stone towards Lann.

”We are still far from the technology of the ancient elves, but Margaret and I found a way to utilize this teleportation beacon.”

Lann took the stone in hand, playing with it with great interest: ”Tell me about its specific functions?”

”First, as a teleportation beacon, we can use it as a basis to connect with your conical crystal, although due to communication power issues, our interaction won’t be easy, but cross-world communication is indeed a significant advancement.”

”Secondly, and perhaps the feature you care about most... it can indeed record the coordinates of worlds it has passed.”

Seeing Lann raise an eyebrow in delight, Tishaya knew he was in a good mood now.

”It’s just a teleportation beacon and doesn’t have the capability to open a cross-world channel. However, considering you hold a passage right to a Sphere Convergence fissure... I guess no one else could better utilize this teleportation beacon’s function than you.”

To others, knowing the coordinates of another world is like discovering a new planet in astronomical research.

They know it, but it holds no practical significance.

Because the key issue isn’t about knowing the location but how to reach it, how to open a channel to the target location.

But for Lann, he has always possessed a chaotic Omni-directional Teleportation Gate, essentially the Sphere Convergence fissures created by Chaos Magic Power tides.

And this teleportation beacon, it’s equivalent to giving him the ability to fixate on a teleportation direction.

”Currently, there’s only one record on this Elf Beacon, the world you brought it back from. Unfortunately, we couldn’t restore where it had been in earlier times through our research.”

”And it seems like this Elf Beacon is a standard-issue equipment, so the capacity for recorded coordinates likely has its limits too, though we haven’t fully explored that, and you’ll have to use it and find out.”

”Thanks, Tishaya. This has already been a huge help!”

Lann stored the Elf Beacon into his alchemy pouch at the back of his waist.

Not to mention, just being able to go to the Ancient Greece world already gives him the confidence to complete the three high-tech surgeries for the Primaris Space Marine.

Also... he’d be able to meet Cassandra again.

”Don’t mention it, Lann. Researching ancient elf technology has also given us quite a bit of inspiration. If it weren’t for you, I doubt Airetusa would ever have a chance at obtaining such ancient relics... Sometimes I wonder if the academy should assemble a group of demon hunters specifically to excavate these valuable ancient knowledge at underground palaces and ruins.”

Tishaya’s sentiment made Lann associate with some unpleasant images.

The blood moon high in the sky, damp dark stone streets, kerosene lamps, coffins all over the street, beastmen, flames...

”No, I think technological progress should come from exploration and innovation, and ancient knowledge should be an occasional supplement for healthy development...”

Tishaya was initially just going along with the conversation, wanting some advice from Lann.

After all, the crystal cultivation project at Airetusa is currently racing towards commercialization thanks to the breakthroughs led by Lann.

And the Valerian steel casting business has already started raking in large sums daily.

The cash flow is indeed immense, and it wouldn’t be an issue to fund a team of demon hunters for exploration tasks.

Since the professional in Lann thought it was not feasible, Tishaya didn’t press further.

”There’s nothing urgent left now; you just came off the battlefield, go have a good rest at Gos Velen. I’ve booked the hot springs at the Silver Swan Inn for you.”

Lann scratched his cheek, a bit dazed.

”You’re actually asking me to relax...”

In Lann’s impression, Tishaya rarely said things like this.

”You’re different from Rita, you understand moderation. Unlike her, who wishes for nothing but salons, parties, and endless naps when idle.”

Tishaya nudged Lann with her chin.

”People coming off the battlefield carry a heavy mental burden... You’re also very tired, right?”

The demon hunter pinched his forehead, though his mouth still curved in a smile, the fatigue beneath that expression was so apparent even an onlooker could easily sense it.

”Alcohol, gourmet food, sex... From my observation of battlefield veterans, relaxation always revolves around these. I’ve made arrangements at the Silver Swan Inn for you. Go unwind for a few days; you don’t even have to step outside, no problem playing until you’re exhausted.”

Tishaya looked at Lann with a rare gentle gaze.

However, the demon hunter was still rubbing his forehead and did not notice.

”Hey, what do you mean ’playing until you’re exhausted is fine’... Wait! Did you also hire some hostesses?!”

Lann initially chuckled with mock anger but then suddenly seemed to realize something, exclaiming in surprise.

”Don’t worry about Rita,” Tishaya replied indifferently, ”If all you do is vent emotions and energy on those women, Rita won’t care. But if you get emotionally involved, well, then there’s a problem... Speaking of which, you wouldn’t develop feelings for those hostesses, would you?”

The demon hunter opened his mouth, seemingly still surprised at how he could not keep up with the open-mindedness of the female warlocks.

Ultimately, he just waved his hand helplessly.

”Thanks, but I won’t develop feelings, nor do I wish to vent on them. I’ll adjust myself slowly.”
