Bear School Astartes

”Advance! Keep advancing!”

Lann shouted, and the knights following him were thus invigorated.

A cavalry group of over sixty men achieved a horrendous casualty ratio in this battle, and this ratio continues to rise, showing no sign of stopping!

Because so far, not a single one of them has fallen behind, and they have already shattered through ten Niflgaard positions consecutively!

”Left side, prepare two [Beehives]... release!”

Lincoln served as the commander after Lann broke through the formation.

Lann was originally a master of Alchemy. During this period, although he didn’t have time to upgrade his followers’ combat abilities significantly, they organized discussions themselves to strive for tactical improvement and cooperation.

However, things like demon hunter bombs and sword oils, which were readily usable with no barriers, he still made a large batch on the spot.

The cost of these items in peaceful, orderly regions is, of course, not cheap. After all, even forests and wilderness are aristocratic lands, and there are taxes to be paid if one wishes to gather or hunt.

But in the current Sintra... anyway, whether it’s Lann or the ’Embers’, they’re taking whatever they need.

So now you can see, the wedge formation composed of over sixty knights directly drilled into the Niflgaard people’s front line through a breach.

Then two bombs sparkling with fire were thrown into a still stubborn group, ’bang bang’, the explosion roared, and the resistance vanished.

The [Beehive] is an Alchemy bomb capable of causing fragmentation damage, though it poses limited harm to armored enemies, on a battlefield that changes in an instant, stunning the enemy momentarily is enough to achieve the strategic goal.

Without strong resistance, the cavalry rolled right over the front line!

Another position is directly breached!

The remnants of Niflgaard soldiers, having lost their Commander and Warlocks, are now like headless flies. After being rolled over by the ’Embers’, they have even lost their basic structure.

Solders without structure essentially lose their threat on the battlefield, and even if a mighty warrior emerges among these soldiers, reorganizing will take him better part of a day, with no contact with Warlocks or upper channels.

The goal of Lann and the ’Embers’ was never to annihilate ordinary soldiers per se, but to destroy the enemy’s structure and organization.

After hitting through this Niflgaard position, Lann, slightly breathless, halted on a hillock.

Behind him, the panting of the ’Embers’ was even louder, the horses’ nostrils flared wide, emitting hot white steam.

”The enemy’s resistance has grown stronger... do they only realize it now? Seems too late.”

Lann drank a bottle of [Swallow] as a supplement, while the ’Embers’ took out the nutrition agents he specially made for ordinary people during this time, and shared it with the warhorses.

Lincoln, eating and panting, asked, ”That position indeed held longer than the previous ones, what does this mean, sir?”

”It means they finally realize someone is clearing their network nodes. Although their reaction is a bit slow.”

Lann didn’t know that mental connections could convey the pain and fear of death, taking Furinjira a solid forty minutes to recover from the near-death experience to a state where she could cast spells again, four minutes of which were just to regain her senses.

”Then...” Lincoln hesitated and continued to ask, ”Shouldn’t this be considered a bad thing?”

”A bad thing?” Lann smiled and glanced back at him, saying no more.

In the Niflgaard command post, staff officers moved back and forth like ants on hot bricks. Clerks passed stacks of paper documents around.

Standing in the center of the tent, Furinjira was temporarily laid out a new action protocol.

She must disconnect the link intermittently to avoid being crushed by the mental empathy transmitted when other Warlocks die.

Since discovering that the fear and pain of death are only felt during the link and do not linger in the network, Meno Kuhorn immediately laid down this rule.

The establishment of the Warlock communication network was less than a day old, but with continued use, a set of guidelines is continuously being improved.

”Stop him! Mobilize the Fourth, Third Cavalry Corps into position! We must establish a defensive line and corner them inside!”

”How is he locking onto positions? Wasn’t it already confirmed that the function of magic items can counter his supernatural search ability?”

”Immediately! Everyone check the magic equipment on yourselves! We need to determine which individual and which piece of equipment failed!”

To ensure no issues arise in this large-scale battle, even though Lann is no longer given priority attention, everyone in this command post comes bearing a variety of magical items.

Lann of Sintra, [Hunting Marquis].

This name originally stirred only a ripple among Niflgaard’s high-level commanders, and after confirming that Warlocks could delay and counter him, nearly everyone paid little attention.

But now, he’s broken through ten positions in forty minutes!

The commander and accompanying Warlock of each position were wiped out... what is this?!

”Hiss~”

A gasping sound came from Furinjira’s mouth in the center of the tent.

The beautiful, noble, daringly dressed female Warlock uttering this evocative sound should have been a suggestive scene.

But now, every man in the tent only felt a chill in their hearts.

Furinjira opened her scared-to-life eyes and immediately spotted the Marshal already waiting before her.

The gaze of the group’s highest commander bore into her intensely.

”Your expression means that the eleventh position has been breached. The eleventh Warlock and Commander have been killed. So you better tell me how you saw their deaths! Did those Warlocks fail to react leading to their deaths, or does that damn [Hunting Marquis] not fear you at all?!”

He seemed almost murderous.

So Furinjira Veges wisely answered him in a calm and concise tone.

”I saw it and disconnected the link before death came; he used an anti-magic bomb. [Hunting Marquis]’ speed is swift, and the Warlocks failed to respond, and he explicitly avoided magical attacks before.”

Those killed had pitiful combat levels, and the enemy still feared magical attacks, even prepared anti-magic bombs.

Answering the question in a single sentence, she also re-established the enormous role of Warlocks.

It should be said that Furinjira Veges indeed deserved to be the Emperor’s distant kin.

Her political acumen showed at the crucial time.

Meno Kuhorn decided to continue believing in the principle that ’Warlocks can target, and at least delay Lann’.
