Bear School Astartes

It was as if all the air around had been sucked out for a moment.

And after everyone felt short of breath, those controlled, power-accumulating, flowing Air Blades... erupted instantly!

”Ssss!”

In an instant, no one saw how many invisible air blades actually swept past.

Only in the direction in front of Lann, the mountain fire seemed to have been suddenly blown by a fan—flaring up intensely before calming down again!

And the people standing in front of Lann?

”Crack...”

Chunks of flesh detached and fell to the ground, along with fragments of armor, pieces of the Magic Chain on the left hand...

The two layers of human walls in front of Lann turned into failed attempts at assembly, or like sculptures washed away on the beach.

With Lann as the center, a semicircle with nearly 180 degrees, radius about five or six meters.

Everyone in this area was instantly sliced apart!

Only some on the extreme edges, where the Air Blades were obstructed multiple times, couldn’t cut through the steel and could only squeeze through the gaps in the armor, causing internal pressure imbalance to kill.

This semicircle area is nearly 90 square meters, designated as a rest area for Warlocks, further strengthened by Darkley’s prior warnings, hence densely packed with Niflgaard’s defensive forces.

An estimated at least fifty people.

And in just a blink, including the Warlocks resting from the effects of the Antimagic Gold Bomb... fifty men were completely annihilated!

The battlefield, noisy and clamorous due to Lann’s advance, fell into a dead silence in that split second.

Everyone in the midst of charging, pulling their bows... involuntarily stopped their actions, swallowing saliva to moisten their dry throats, staring blankly at the semicircle suddenly filled with flesh and steel fragments.

And that giant at its center!

”You were trying to provoke me earlier, to make me anxious, distract me, rush me to save someone, weren’t you?”

Having killed the Warlocks, there were no means to extinguish the fires, no portals, no magic protection, no magic attacks.

At this moment, Lann relaxed somewhat.

His expression no longer showing emotions like before, anxiety, anger... were all gone.

Just calm.

”But why would I save anyone, gentlemen of Niflgaard?”

”Hacksaw was ready to die long ago. I had no illusions about saving him or Stuart by coming here. So...”

”I came here to kill, not to save, gentlemen.”

”I am very clear-headed, from start to finish.”

Lann shook the chains still wrapped around his left hand, creating a clinking sound.

Strange indeed, even though the mountain fire was spreading, even though there were thousands gathered here, everyone felt as if the sound of those chains was banging in their own skulls!

In the midst of this sound, Lann coiled the chains around his right hand, circle after circle.

Then, he placed the Lady of the Lake’s Sword at his waist, no longer moving.

He reached behind his waist, into the Alchemy Pouch, under everyone’s wide-eyed gaze... drew out the Murky Stream Greatsword!

The sword blade, not very sharp, rubbed against the pouch’s opening, while the chain on his right hand was wound around the sword’s hilt, wrapped in white linen for grip.

The once large, heavy, dark greatsword now, due to his current physique without the Divine-made Armament’s adaptive size, appeared less impactful than before.

But that was in his own eyes!

To the surrounding Niflgaard common people... it still was a greatsword resembling a crude iron block!

Unconsciously. Halfway through the charge, Darkley already inside the soldiers’ swarm, felt his fingers trembling slightly beneath his armor.

”The precision work is done.”

Lann turned, faced the over three thousand Niflgaard soldiers in the ravine beneath the mountain fire, and lightly patted the Lady of the Lake’s Sword at his waist.

”Now, at last, I can greet you according to my own mood.”

”Hacksaw... you picked a great place!”

Amidst this dead silence, a faint, indistinct laugh could be heard from the car platform where Adal stood.

”Hehehe... Haha!”

In the midst of the laughter, Adal intended to swing again, but seeing the titan standing at the center of the flesh fragments from afar, he surprisingly just kicked the laughing Hacksaw, making him tumble over.

”Kill him...” Initially, Adal’s voice was small. But soon, he screamed like a madman: ”Kill him! Kill the Demon Hunter!”

”Yes! Come kill me!” The Demon Hunter opened his arms wide and walked towards the mass of dark Niflgaard people. ”Or I will kill you!”

Thus, Niflgaard’s soldiers first kept retreating, then looked around at the intensifying mountain fire, exchanging uncertain glances...

”Go! Go! Go!”

”Chains! Are there any more of those chains?”

Perhaps it was the mountain fire’s coercion, perhaps it was the thought that ’he is alone’ that nagged in their minds.

In any case, the legendary Niflgaard people began charging towards this solo Demon Hunter!

First came the Nausicca Cavalry Squad.

Cavalry, always the most outstanding warriors in the era where they still had relevance.

A charge of five hundred Nausicca Cavalrymen faced the person standing in front of them, almost akin to a landslide!

But even a landslide inevitably contains boulders that aren’t crushed in the process.

”Ooooh~”

The massive iron block moved through the air, making a sound almost like a low roar!

The Nausicca Cavalry Squad worthy of being Niflgaard’s elite, automatically scattered in the slightly chaotic formation, without slowing or trampling over their infantry.

Separated, they quickly reformed into a heavy cavalry wedge formation.

Facing a single enemy, a standard cavalry push would unnecessarily expend force.

A single line of sweep might naturally allow knights taking turns to fully exert their strength.

The cavalry squad’s commander thought so.

Such thoughts were not wrong.

For cavalry is such a powerful force, even dragons dare not face a squad in charge!

...Theoretically.

”Bang!!!”

The massive, dark blade collided with the thick horse armor after it swung. Metal clashing sound, ripping of horse armors, muffled thud as the greatsword slammed into flesh...

All sounds combined, bursting out in an instant, transforming into a noise akin to the tolling of a great church bell!

Too fast.

The Murky Stream in Lann’s hands now, with his sinews and muscles made its blade speed resemble a One-Handed Sword!

Niflgaard’s cavalry commander led the charge, but after a flash before his eyes, all he could see was half his steed’s body and his own flying two little legs.
