Bear School Astartes

”In my opinion, we’re pretty much going to die here!”

The dwarf shouted at the side, shaking his helmet as the dirt from the explosions tumbled down.

”Damn it! In less than thirty minutes, these black dogs hauled over a Fire Scorpion Siege Crossbow! If I didn’t know how strict the storage conditions for this thing’s ammunition are, I’d think they’d prepared it here early!”

This place was a critical barrier used to block one of the marching routes of the Niflgaard people.

The Northern Alliance Army had thought that the deployed troops were already more than sufficient.

But they undoubtedly underestimated the current reinforcement speed of the Niflgaard Army.

The bombardment from the Fire Scorpion Siege Crossbow continued to strike against their makeshift barriers; this brutal siege weapon would originally take at least half a day to start from its original position.

And now, twenty minutes had passed since it first fired.

This siege weapon from Serycania could launch terrifying green fire ammunition, even expertly built city walls couldn’t withstand a few shots.

The hill they used for concealment was almost flattened!

”So what?” Next to the dwarf, who was like a short iron pillar, a human soldier bearing a crude Redania red hawk emblem on his armor responded loudly.

”So, are you gonna surrender, dwarf?”

”Surrender? Surrender to black dogs?” The dwarf knocked on his helmet with the warhammer in his hand, ”I’ll surrender your damn mother’s leg! Haha!”

Amidst the battlefield’s shellfire, the soldiers laughed boisterously.

The black dogs had several times left no survivors; everyone understood well that these southerners didn’t play by the northern rules.

At the next moment, a projectile blazing with green fire fell from the sky, the rock fragments it blasted flew over, directly smashing the head of the still-laughing short iron pillar.

His sturdy helmet was smashed flat, and brains and blood flowed out from the flattened helmet.

The soldiers beside him, already accustomed, merely fell silent for a moment, then returned to normal.

Actually, everyone faintly felt that when the enemy brought such a siege weapon, they wouldn’t be able to hold it.

”Guys!” the Redania human soldier shouted loudly, ”I think, this life of ours ends here!”

Just as the words fell, a piercing and distinctive loud sound suddenly erupted from the Niflgaard position at the mountain’s base!

”Bang!!!”

Like church bells tolling, heavy and solemn.

It was just a sword, yet after sweeping, it left a horrifying scene!

In a fan-shaped area, the Niflgaard people only left their lower halves, and their upper halves had flown into the sky!

The image was so impactful that it plunged the entire position into temporary silence.

Everyone stared dumbfounded at the scene, their brains couldn’t react at all.

Only when the blood rain caused by cutting through a dozen people gradually subsided, did they see the person wielding the sword.

A giant about three or four times bigger than a normal person, hair like melted silver, and a face eerily enchanting due to the splattered blood.

But Lann wasn’t in a daze.

His sharp cat eyes scanned from side to side in an instant, then suddenly stopped!

With a ’pop’, he had already snatched a spear from the upper half body of a Niflgaard soldier that had fallen from the air, then exerted force with his legs, leaping high.

Until then, the upper bodies of those soldiers he had cleaved hadn’t even hit the ground yet!

And then...

”Whoosh!”

[Alder]!

First, a right-hand throw, granting the spear a powerful initial speed, followed by the secondary propulsion from the force of [Alder’s Rune]!

A white misty air shockwave appeared evidently on the long handle of the spear as it flew.

A commander standing among the Niflgaard soldiers, along with the warlock beside him, had no time to react.

In that instant, the spear came slantingly down from the sky and pierced through the two bodies with a rip.

They stood so close that they got pierced like a skewer.

The spear, slanted into the ground, still upheld their two bodies.

Upon landing, Lann’s nearly three-hundred-kilogram body weight pressed down on a soldier’s shoulder, making the man sink along with his armor directly.

And only then did the Niflgaard position erupt into chaos!

”Officer! The officer is dead!”

”Counterattack!”

”Protect the Fire Scorpion Siege Crossbow!”

Everyone shouted what they thought was vitally important information, making supposedly crucial demands.

But without an arbiter, it was merely chaos.

And a chaotic army is without combat power.

The rumbling of hooves sounded from behind Lann.

The ’Embers’ he led charged onto the battlefield at an incredibly appropriate time and smoothly split the enemy’s formation, then began annihilation.

The battle situation swung from on the brink of collapse to a swift turn in less than ten minutes!

This was the essence of ’an army’s defeat unfolds like a landslide’.

When the collapse of organization happens quickly, there’s no chance to react.

On the hillside, warriors who had been unable to lift their heads under the combined firepower of the Fire Scorpion Siege Crossbow and Niflgaard’s arrows and crossbows, were now staring dumbfounded at the sixty-some men downhill.

These few had managed to rout the Niflgaard Army that once had them pinned, which numbered between hundreds and nearly a thousand!

Like a hot knife through butter, mercury pouring out!

”It seems the Niflgaard commander has some level of skill, huh.”

Lann’s eyes slightly lifted, looking at the empty sky.

”He established something quite interesting...for now.”

”As you say, my lord.” Lincoln, on his warhorse, thrust his spear out, killing an enemy from above and answered Lann.

Though his mind was boggled and he saw nothing, he assumed whatever Lann said was correct.

And in the Witcher’s perspective, the entire battlefield swirled with a great deal of chaos magic power.

They connected one warlock to another like network wires.

This was even better than what he had initially anticipated as the best outcome. It’s mainly thanks to Meno Kuhorn’s keen war perception, realizing the value of information on the battlefield, thus forming an information network.

In Lann’s earlier prediction, with the Son of the Emperor’s ability to sense group emotional direction, channeling this into the army’s battlefield maneuvers would allow him to roughly know what orders they received.

Then, using Mentos’ calculation model, he could pinpoint the commander’s location based on the time gap.

Previously, he could lock onto an enemy officer’s position within a minute of issuing orders in the complex terrain and chaotic battle conditions purely based on this principle.

Nothing to do with supernatural powers, it’s the keen talent from the Son of the Emperor, coupled with the application of biological intelligence brain computing methods!

A pure tactical insight on the battlefield.
