Bear School Astartes

And Lann’s previous tactical deception was merely hoped to have the Niflgaard people deploy a Warlock with Chaos Magic Power beside every high-ranking officer, to aid his battlefield insight.

Relying solely on pure insight to find the command center on this vast battlefield might take at least ten minutes to gather information.

But with Warlocks marked with Chaos Magic Power as assistance, this auxiliary method could boost his efficiency more than tenfold!

And now, as Warlocks’ communications are woven into a network...

Lann withdrew his [Sight] from the sky and looked towards the southwest.

He has already found the place where network information flows most frequently, undoubtedly, all battlefield information should be summarized at the command center.

”Found it.”

Within ten minutes of entering the battlefield, he had already located Meno Kuhorn’s command post.

Originally, he had to traverse the entire battlefield, because [Sight] didn’t improve his visual range much. He needed to measure the entire battlefield with his own legs.

But now, Meno Kuhorn’s ’genius move’ had completely helped him a great deal.

”The next part will be rushed, and the journey isn’t exactly short.”

Lann glanced to his side at Lincoln, who was riding a horse and barely keeping pace with him.

”We can manage. To be precise...” Lincoln reported to Lann with calm confidence.

”All our practice and planning up to this point were for a single purpose—not being left behind by you. So...”

The young boy on horseback looked directly at those cat-like eyes and bowed to Lann.

”Please give it your all.”

The corner of the Demon Hunter’s mouth curled up slightly.

On the hillside, the surviving soldiers of the Northern Alliance Army stared blankly at the tall figure, transforming into a shadow with speed not inferior to that of a warhorse.

Another knight, who had been standing beside that figure, held up a lance and shouted towards the hill.

”You keep this Fire Scorpion Siege Crossbow! Hold your ground! Stick to the original strategic deployment!”

In Lincoln’s mind, the changes of the Niflgaard people didn’t matter.

Because once his master entered the scene, any changes would be forcibly reverted!

All of them believed this without question.

The soldiers on the hill looked at each other in confusion; none of them had seen this force of only over sixty people.

Nor had they seen this knight who was shouting.

But Lincoln’s tone was resolute and confident, even if he was the highest-ranking officer they had ever seen, he spoke no differently.

So, the soldiers on the hill instinctively stood at attention: ”Understood, Sir! Yes, Sir!”

Meanwhile, inside Meno Kuhorn’s command post.

”Ugh!”

Furinjira Veges, who had been gazing skyward with Chaos Magic Power faintly flickering in her pupils, suddenly had a seizure!

Her hands instinctively held her side, uttering a scream as if a blade had sliced into her body.

Immediately, within the busy command post, the aides and secretaries around Furinjira Veges quickly supported her nervously. Papers scattered all over the floor.

”Ma’am? Ma’am?”

Meno Kuhorn also immediately came over with concern.

This female Warlock, right now, was the eyes and mouth the command post used to coordinate the entire battlefield. Other than the Marshal himself, no one could afford for her to have any mishaps!

And the female Warlock lay on the floor like a boiled shrimp, her mouth gaping as she only inhaled, not exhaling,

”Doctor!”

The Marshal immediately called for medical aid, but the military doctor, specifically assigned to the Marshal, found nothing after examining the female Warlock.

Only mentioning ’panic attack’.

It took Furinjira Veges two minutes to finally force her tense and arched body flat, regaining a steady breath.

”What happened to you?”

Meno Kuhorn asked her in a tone close to being scrutinizing.

”A Warlock died.” Furinjira said, clutching her still rapidly beating heart and gasping for air. ”Our communication is based on psychic link, so the fear and pain of his death were transmitted to me... It hurts, it’s terrifying!”

Hearing the news of a Warlock’s death, Meno Kuhorn’s eyes immediately squinted.

The foreboding feeling in his heart was reignited by those words.

”Do you know how he died? Who killed him?”

”I don’t know; it was too fast.” Furinjira shook her head, ”He didn’t even have time to react, his body was pierced right through, from here.”

Saying this, the female Warlock pointed to her side where she had instinctively held earlier.

Meno Kuhorn instantly realized that it was where the kidneys were located. If it were truly pierced from behind there, it would indeed result in a quick death, without the chance to see the assailant’s face.

Was it an accident?

The Marshal tried to suppress the unease in his heart, and after inquiring about the number of the deceased Warlock, he had the secretary find the relevant information immediately.

”We just redeployed a Fire Scorpion Siege Crossbow to his unit. If the Northern people maintain an attitude of balanced confrontation and redeploy a crossbow as well, it’s entirely possible for this to have happened.”

The secretary reported to the Marshal after sorting out the information.

”Could they keep up with our equipment redeployment speed?”

Meno Kuhorn asked coldly.

”It is possible, Marshal. First, the crossbow they redeployed might not be a large and difficult-to-move type. Secondly, there might even be a storage point for crossbows near them. While our information exchange efficiency is indeed higher than theirs, we still fall far short of uncovering all the secrets on the battlefield.”

The secretary didn’t find it to be a big deal; a Warlock’s casualty on the battlefield, there being no surprises is the biggest surprise.

In fact, these Warlocks encountering incidents now actually made the secretary feel relieved.

Many people subconsciously believe in the concept of ’the balance of luck’.

If luck is too good in one area, it’s possible that corresponding misfortune is waiting somewhere ahead. It’s better to stay average.

Meno Kuhorn pursed his lips, reluctantly accepting these explanations.

Thus, he turned to ask Furinjira, still clutching her side, ”How’s your condition now? We’ve gone forty minutes without receiving messages or sending orders from the below units.”

The Marshal’s gaze was like an eagle’s; he wouldn’t be courteous because of Furinjira’s distant kinship with the Emperor.

If killing this woman could bring about victory in the war, then, based on his understanding of the Emperor, Meno Kuhorn wouldn’t hesitate for even half a second.

Furinjira certainly was a clever female Warlock.

She took a deep breath, making herself stand shakily: ”I’m fine now, Marshal.”

”Good, let’s start.”

And so, as cold sweat broke out on Furinjira’s face due to the pain and fear of death, the Chaos Magic Power in her eyes flared up again.

But this time, she quickly disengaged in less than a second.

Her face now was even paler than before.

”What happened?”

Meno Kuhorn, watching the female Warlock intently, felt a sudden surge of anxiety upon seeing this expression.

”Th-they disappeared.”

The female Warlock trembled as she spoke.

”What ’disappeared’?! Speak clearly, damn Warlock! Has your brain been messed up by magic power?”

The Marshal, with his iron-gloved hand, gripped the female Warlock’s delicate shoulder tightly, demanding loudly.

And Furinjira cowered and said,

”The links of ten Warlocks... disappeared.”

It was as if time stood still inside the tent; the expressions of the secretary, officers, and aides froze in that instant.

Their brains dared not comprehend the meaning of those words.

Hearts began to race, salivary glands secreting rapidly out of tension, and an indescribable shiver swept through their bodies.

”He... has arrived.”

Meno Kuhorn subconsciously uttered the deep-seated fear that had long lingered in his heart.

Even though at this moment, perhaps even he didn’t know what he was saying.
