Bear School Astartes

Originally about to leave the tent and lead the warlocks to the front to save the battle, Viggo Fortez suddenly returned when he reached the edge of the command camp.

”Has there been any unexpected situation, Master?”

When Veltrest saw Viggo Fortez in the command post again, he was shocked by the curious smile on his face, causing his heart to skip a beat.

Is this warlock seeing things poorly and planning to take the heads of the two kings to the enemy?

But facing the probing tone of the King of Temeria, Viggo Fortez didn’t seem to care much.

Because he indeed encountered something more worthy of attention and more interesting!

”Your Majesties.”

The youngest Great Mage in history first smiled and formally called out the titles to dispel the two kings’ dull wariness. Then he continued speaking.

”I think I know what’s going on with the opponent now.”

Immediately, Viggo Fortez spoke to Veltrest and Vizimir about the dense telepathic links under this piece of sky.

And the various information and intelligence constantly being transmitted within this network of links.

The two kings were initially dumbfounded because they had never thought the warlock’s basic abilities could be used this way on the battlefield, nor had they even conceived the concept of ’massive deployment of warlocks in battle.’

The warlocks of the North held a high status, appearing even a hundred years ago as wise figures who could guide kings in governance.

Thus, even for wild mages and school dropouts from the Magic Academy, the Northern Kingdom’s least courteous usage was nurturing them into high-level spies and elite guards within intelligence agencies.

They never considered mixing these individuals with the soldiers for use.

However, with Viggo Fortez’s concise and direct explanation, the two kings quickly understood the extraordinary aspects of this system.

Both of them possessed exceptional military talents; one was young and energetic, while the other had rich battlefield experience from a long life.

After all, even with average talent, having honed one’s skills in a king’s position for long periods would lead to extraordinary abilities.

Moreover, they had just been on the battlefield, being savagely beaten by Meno Kuhorn, who mastered this epoch-making system.

Those being beaten certainly knew how heavy that ’fist’ was.

”He is indeed a genius-like commander!”

Veltrest paced excitedly and muttered to himself.

”But this genius does not refer to his commanding ability, rather to the assembly of this magic communication system! I understand now! This is the best usage of a warlock’s ability! Telepathy, which the most awkward warlock can master! Who ever thought of this before?”

”Indeed, when I just discovered this, I sincerely praised it as well.”

Viggo Fortez spoke sincerely...

As if, when the Niflgaard warlocks initially spread out, it wasn’t him who stealthily entered their network for observation using his extraordinary magical brilliance.

To Viggo Fortez, these southern warlocks were so clumsy they couldn’t even perceive his presence.

Observing them was like observing the starry sky reflected on a calm lake surface.

”At least we know why the opposing command level appeared so absurd.”

The aged King Vizimir forced to rally under this news, redoing his disheveled gray hair back into the crown, then turned his gaze to Viggo Fortez.

”Master must have thought of a countermeasure coming back in such excitement? Large-scale magic? Or some ceremony? How should we cooperate?”

These words led Veltrest to also gaze at Viggo Fortez with excitement and anticipation.

In their hearts, the Great Mage who saw through Niflgaard’s setup and rushed back should be more than confident.

However, the youngest Great Mage in history responded with... astonished and puzzled eyes.

”No, I meant... hasn’t someone in the army started acting?”

All three of them put away their smiles at this point and faced each other blankly.

”Wait... what is the situation now?”

Veltrest led with a question.

”I thought it was your secret weapon hidden within the army...” Viggo Fortez, usually composed, couldn’t help twitching the corner of his mouth.

”We only just learned about the existence of this communication system from your mouth and you say we have a secret weapon?”

King Vizimir spread his hands wide, his eyes blinking.

”However, apart from magic, directly killing the warlocks as nodes can’t crack this system either; I thought your secret weapon accidentally achieved such a major thing.”

”Alright!” Veltrest clapped the table, widened his eyes to stop the scattered dialogue between the two sides. ”The most important thing now is how to win this war! Master, just say what happened!”

”It’s that there’s a... ’thing’?” Viggo Fortez glanced at the clock inside the tent to verify the time.

”That ’thing’ has taken down eight nodes of the Niflgaardians in nearly thirty minutes, meaning killed eight warlocks on eight positions. Wait...”

Saying this, Viggo Fortez again cast his gaze into the distant sky, his view penetrating the tent’s canvas. Then he turned back.

”Now it’s forty minutes, that ’thing’ has slain ten warlocks.”

Silence.

A silence because the content was so beyond imagination that they didn’t know what to say.

”How about...” Veltrest tentatively looked at Vizimir and Viggo Fortez, ”we stick to the previous plan... unchanged?”

The other two looked at each other, nodded wordlessly.

Lann ran across the wilderness and hills, never stopping, nor failing.

He was like a death wind sweeping through the Niflgaard positions.

Having the single-handed power capable of forcefully stopping a heavy cavalry regiment’s charge, when diving into positions formed by ordinary soldiers, it was as uneventful as taking a stroll through the streets.

Their formation was too scattered for Lann; the collective strength in facing solo prowess lacks focal points and can’t exert its force.

If gathered together, then [Turbulent] The damage effect and the scene created by the great sword instantly cause tremendous psychological pressure on the soldiers’ spirits.

Regardless of blocking or not, the organization of the Niflgaard Army gradually collapsed.

Lann forced his way through the crowd’s opening, followed closely by the ’Embers’ who rushed through the gap, their cooperation extending the enemy’s damage range, further collapsing the entire position.

The emotions of enemies and comrades surged continuously in Lann’s perception.

The keen perception of emotions allowed him to feel as if seated amidst the clouds, overlooking the land transforming into battlefields.

The emotions in war are most intense.

Invasion and resistance, slaughter and defiance... Various emotions were felt by Lann.

The stability of life in hometown transformed some into invaders due to this war, while others became resistors.

All this was enough...

I can, and I will! End this war!
