Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1249  Bronze

ʼThis place is certainly connected to the realm that Lorien entered. If Iʼm correct, it might have even grown from the layered Dungeons, or be the reason the layered Dungeons appeared in the first place…ʼ

The details almost didnʼt matter right now, though. What was important was what the D-Grade Thryskai Feather was capable of.

Because of its existence, Sylas was able to use the obelisks.

Essentially, the feather was like a domain of its own, capable of allowing Aether to gather properly and trigger the hidden effects of the obelisk.

By extension, then, it was obvious what the Thryskai would want to use it for. They wanted a chance at disrupting this quasi-system with a domain of their own. The hope was that by disrupting the system, they could have a chance to enter personally and take advantage of whatever was here.

Obviously, that failed. The feather didnʼt manage to sink all the way into the quasi-system like the Thryskai wanted, and in the end, Lorien was the one that ended up finding and benefiting from it.

Now, all of the peculiarities that Sylas didnʼt understand before were falling into place, clearing up the twisting wires that had entangled Sylasʼ thoughts before.

But what was Sylas going to do about that right now?

Slowly, he raised a palm. His Beast Totem appeared at his back, causing a trembling might to erupt from him. At that moment, every Serpentes in the mountain range suddenly felt as though a Godʼs palm was descending from above, a rattling, shaking tribulation descending and shaking the very roots of the caves they called home.

One howl after another filled the air.

Sylas struck his palms together, his eyes flashing with menace. He pulled on his True Pride Seed, pouring its effects into the Beast Totem.

The Beast Totemʼs suppressive effects worked with range and didnʼt seem limited by number—but that wasnʼt the case.

When the number of targets increased beyond a certain range, especially when he had yet to reach a stage of absolute suppression in the E-Grade, Sylas could sense it diluting a bit.

However, his True Pride Seed bolstered it. While it didnʼt increase the percentage of suppression, what it could do was stop it from diluting as much, creating an absolute domain around Sylas that demanded obedience.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

ROAR!

A serpent with green scales so dark it almost looked black beneath the low lights shot out of the mountain range.

But it wasnʼt alone. Soon came another, this one with red scales so dark it almost seemed covered in iron-black shingles. And then came yet another, this one such a dark blue it was the same.

[Demonic Green Emperor][Level: 100]

Every one that appeared—from Red Emperor to Blue

Emperor—there wasnʼt a single one that wasnʼt a perfect Level 100, their power peeling across the skies like cracks of lightning and booms of thunder.

Even one of them was far beyond Sylasʼ means to handle.

They were too powerful, even if he could suppress them by 40%.

It wasnʼt just their Level—it was that they had spent what must have been countless years building their E-Grade Foundations in preparation to enter the D-Grade—just like the Duchessʼ father, and in all likelihood, the heads of the Blazara Clan and the Ghorath Clan.

”Uh… Syl… buddy… did we, uh… think this through?” Alex practically whimpered out the words, wanting to find the tears to shed.

Sylas had felt so powerful just now, and Jala for certain thought that he was about to do something amazing.

Whatever this ability was, it was powerful and made them feel insignificant.

But right about now, it felt like Sylas was just a paper tiger.

These beasts were the real deal, and it certainly didnʼt help that they were using black storm clouds like stools and ancient steps they could just casually grab at to support their mountainous weights like that made any logical sense.

Each one was over half a kilometer long. A cloud couldnʼt even hold the weight of a toddler, so how was it holding them up? It was ridiculous.

Unfortunately, no amount of complaints or swearing was going to change the facts before them at all. It also felt like it was far too late to run.

Somehow, the fact the Hollow Wing could flash away 30 kilometers in an instant felt like it wouldnʼt be enough to run away from these monsters.

But Sylas didnʼt respond. Instead, a feather appeared before him, white and resplendent in its glow, oppressive and heart-shuddering in its might.

At that moment, the world splintered and twisted around Sylas, bowing beneath it.

Sylas pressed onto it with Aetherborn Will, his Aether and Will pouring into it in waves.

Right then, his Beast Totem reacted and the Serpentes before him seemed to glitch.

Sylasʼ eyes flashed. He had seen these glitches before. The first time he had seen that sort of breakage in reality was in the Slithering Madness Dungeon. But that was exactly why he knew what he was looking for the moment he saw it.

Before, it was the Madness Key and his Taboo questions that had triggered it. But now, he was doing it himself in this inferior quasi-systemʼs world.

If the rules were rigged against them, and the laws far too twisted to allow for victory in the normal way, then it was just up to Sylas to find another path forward.

Since they were already not on a level playing field, he would just have to twist things a bit more. This time, he would twist them in his favor.

The instant he saw the glitch, he acted.
