Chapter 1243  True Blood [Bonus]

BANG!

The Duchess slammed a fist against the ground again and again, until her wrist was suddenly caught.

”Thatʼs enough,” the Duke said calmly.

”Let go!” The Duchess ripped her hand away, her gaze filled with murder.

”Heʼs dead. Leave it be.”

”Itʼs not enough for what he did to me!”

”This isnʼt enough for you to be so enraged by. This is a Charysm, not an Incubud. Thereʼs nothing to be ashamed of.”

”I am the Duchess!” she said, furious.

”And you had your fun, then killed him by your own hands.

Was there a need to continue carrying around such anger?

Plus, it seems that youʼve awakened your True Blood. This was a blessing in disguise. Maybe thereʼs something about the charm of a Charysm that allowed you this chance…”

Sylas was wrong. Well… in part.

The abilities the Duchess displayed were, indeed, the abilities of the Sanguara. The legends of super strength, speed, and charm were the foundational aspects of all vampires, and the Sanguaraʼs bloodline perfectly embodied this.

However, what Sylas was wrong about was the fact that not all Sanguara were capable of this. Or, more accurately, not all of the Sanguara here were capable of this.

Because of the suppression of their Race, many of their abilities were limited, and as powerful as the Duchess was now, she was only touching the faintest edges of what their True Blood was capable of.

At their pinnacle, the Sanguara were known to have infinite speed and strength. This wasnʼt to say that there was truly no cap, but instead that the power they could output was directly proportional to the amount of blood they had feasted on.

A well-fed Sanguara could bend light with a punch and time with their speed. A starved Sanguara would be a fish on the chopping block.

On top of this, if one were to rank the Charisma of various Demons, the Charysm would undoubtedly be number one.

The Sanguara, however…

Would be number two.

The Duchessʼ shriek attacking Sylasʼ mind even if she didnʼt mean it to was precisely the sort of power that could easily exponentially grow.

What was truly fearsome about the Sanguaraʼs charm, though, was that it was physical, taking the form of venom they could inject into a personʼs body through their canines or claws.

This form of charm was amongst the most fearsome, and it could be said that by the Duchess trying to use it in the form of a yell, she had actually only been using a fraction of a fraction of its capabilities.

Even the Duke was baffled by the fact his daughter had managed to awaken her True Blood. He had been trying for so long and had been entirely unable to.

The truth was that only with True Blood would a Sanguara be able to display their fullest array of abilities, even down to their diamond skin and super-regenerative abilities. It was also only with True Blood that they would be truly immune to the sun. Otherwise… they would need the cloaks the Duke was still wearing even until now.

And the irony of it all?

It was only possible because of Sylas.

The Duke had said it was because of Sylas as well, but he was only saying so without clear evidence or reason. But he had reached the right conclusion nonetheless.

Ironically, it was precisely the impurities Sylas had left behind in the Duchessʼ body that allowed this.

While Sylasʼ body could use Demon meat and Genes to force it to evolve… why couldnʼt the Duchess do the vice versa?

Without Sylas, the suppression of the realm would continue to keep the Duchess restricted. But Sylas had tipped that balance. And now, not only were the impurities being forced out, but the Duchess had regained access to maybe the most important dormant ability within her.

According to the calculations of the Gold Lineage Ancestors that set up this world, no one would be able to defeat the Sanguara in their full state, not at the E-Grade. Their abilities were simply too broken.

Unfortunately, Sylas had no idea about any of this and had inadvertently stepped into a rat trap.

The irony was that this time he was the rat.

He had wondered how long it would take before his practically omnipotent knowledge fell to obscurity again and he was forced to walk into most situations blind.

It seemed that it hadnʼt lasted very long before he ran out of rope.

The Duchess took heaving breaths, but eventually slowly began to calm down.

”This is a sign from our Ancestors. With the Golden Champion here, and your best competition out of the way, I will let you lead the way. Once you kill the Golden Champion, with your True Blood awakened, you will open our path out of here.”

The Duchess clenched her fists.

Hovering in the skies above, Ansla watched in silence, her Barbed Chain Gang too weak to partake in anything that had happened. Looking toward where Sylas had fallen, she couldnʼt help but wonder…

Was he really dead?

”Itʼs time to go,” the Duke said coldly.

**

Sylas coughed up several mouthfuls of blood in a pocket of earth, his body shaking.

This time, he had used [Earth Escape] to slip away.

Unfortunately, you needed to be in actual contact with the earth for it to activate. And, if there was absolutely no trace of blood or gore left, they would probably keep looking for him while he wasnʼt ready for another fight.

So, he had had no choice but to hit the ground for just long enough to fool them and avoid the fate of death.

He stared out into space quite blankly for a while, trying to regain his bearings. But his Healing Factor was painfully slow, especially now.

This world… really had a way of humbling you. He had thought that his path forward, at least in this realm, would be smooth sailing. And that had lasted all of a few hours before it came crumbling down.
