Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1237  Impossible

The Duchess was dropped to the ground as Sylas let her go, only to pick her up again by her hair.

She lunged forward in an attempt to kiss Sylas, only to find herself pulling against her own hair in the vain attempt. It wasnʼt long before she was forced to her knees, her mouth forced open wide and her windpipes nearly split open by the entry.

Sylas finished just like that, his eyes cold and indifferent all the while. At the same time, he could feel something very different inside of him right now.

His body hadnʼt quite caught up as quickly as he thought it would, but he knew it was coming. All he needed was more Demon meat and time.

He had just flushed his body of all its inferior Genes and cleansed the layers of his body. In order to complete the change, he would have to overturn all the cells in his body with his new foundation.

If he were a normal human, that would take almost a decade.

If he relied on his healing factor right now, it would take several months. His healing factor had become even worse because he was only more perfect now. The Genes he would need to offset this were far more than he had the capacity for.

The only way for him to complete this in any sort of reasonable time frame was to eat powerful Demons.

Sylas had half a mind to use the Duchess. She was

disoriented enough for him to kill her. In fact, with Compelling Gaze, he just might be able to get her to kill herself.

But he couldnʼt do that just yet. The issue was her father—he obviously wanted to protect her.

Demons didnʼt usually have such close familial ties, but it wasnʼt impossible. That said, Sylas had a feeling that protecting the Duchess was more of a play for face than anything else for the Sanguara Clan head.

His daughter was probably one of the most valuable commodities in this Demon world, and as her father, her actions, who she ended up with, and who she slept with were all reflections of him. That was why he had tested Sylas.

If she ended up dead, it would be a slap to his face.

Sylas bet that he knew his daughter was here—he probably just didnʼt guess that she would end up in, well…

He looked down, a hand full of the Duchessʼ hair still in his grip. She was still completely disoriented, but she kissed at his cock as though it were his lips, trying to see if she could squeeze anything more out.

…Like this.

He wasnʼt a fool. The Duchess was orders of magnitude more powerful than Ebison, so he didnʼt believe that Sylas could do anything to her even if he wanted to.

Well, he was also wrong about that.

Sylas would have to make it to the Golden Battlefield first before he could consider killing her. But he couldnʼt go there without first reaping all the benefits of this decision he had made. Only then would he be most confident.

It was a good thing he had a Duchess at his beck and call, then.

The days passed by quickly, and soon on the third, it was time to head out.

During these days, Sylas had had the Duchess bring him back a substantial amount of food from high-quality Demons. With his current power, he would have had a very hard time killing any one of them, but she made it look easy.

As he ate one after another, his strength leapt forward by leaps and bounds.

Sylas was already exceptionally powerful for someone who had been born of an F-Grade Race. But with those shackles weighing him down, it had been impossible for him to display the might he should have had as a member of a D-Grade Race.

The reality was that on the stage Sylas was about to step onto, the bare minimum was to be of a D-Grade Race. Even the ”fallen” Unitaur, who were only considered near the middle-tier or so of the Sector, were a D-Grade Race.

The true powerhouses were all of the C-Grade. As for the Demi-God Thryskai that descended to oppress the Golden Grove, they had been of the B-Grade.

The power gap between each level was substantial, and as good a job as Sylas was doing in bridging that gap, if his humble beginnings kept weighing him down, he would continue to have to be exponentially more extraordinary just to continue to have the same results.

But thanks to the Duchess?

This was no longer a problem.

Sylas had already become among the very best of D-Grade Races before even stepping foot into this secret realm. All he had been lacking was a method to get rid of the lingering weaknesses from his starting position.

And now?

He had.

The Duchess continued to do her best to please him, hoping for another session. She would often find herself

daydreaming, pining, but Sylas had already gotten what he wanted from her.

In fact, if he was correct, the Duchessʼ own talent had taken a hit. She would find it a lot more difficult to progress in Levels now.

While he hadnʼt taken any of her Genes, she had been weighed down by his own impurities.

He could probably find a method to mitigate that weakness in his methods, but why would he bother for her alone? It wasnʼt hurting him, anyway.

If anything, Sylas was already thinking about how to upgrade to a C-Grade Race and where he would find a C-Grade Demoness to conquer.

Finally, the day came when he stepped outside.

…

A caravan pulled by several enormous eight-eyed, slithering Demonic beasts caught Sylasʼ attention immediately.

Serpentes?

He actually wasnʼt sure. Could they still be Serpentes if they were Demons? He had picked his Vipermancy Class based on his half of the Life spectrum, and Demons were on the other half entirely.

But Sylas found his heart skip a beat when he realized that they were indeed Serpentes.

ʼThatʼs… impossible. Why would Demons count as

Serpentes?ʼ
