Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1218  Go

A maid with skin as ashy grey as Anslaʼs helped to fix up Sylasʼ collar, standing in a room of lush decorations.

The style of dress for Noble Demons was quite… Victorian. It felt to Sylas like he had been transported back to an era of Earth he had only read about in textbooks, and just barely at that.

Frilly sleeves and colors, breasted vests, thick cotton material, and countless layers. It felt like he was being tightly wound through, one piece after another, the giggling handmaidens scurrying around him like fairies.

But there was a cold indifference to Sylasʼ face that made the situation much less fun for them. At the very least, if he was complaining or uncomfortable, they could crack a few jokes themselves.

Sylas, however, was entirely focused on the task at hand.

Tonight was a dinner he hadnʼt planned on attending originally. As he expected, his talk with Ansla had borne fruit. The problem, though, was that Ansla truly didnʼt have much information. She had been hoping to gain something from the trip to the pillarʼs appearance location, but there had, obviously, been nothing to find.

The only people that might have some real, tangible information about what was going on were the Demons here.

The Noble Demons.

There was also the main issue as well—that being how to clear this realm and open a gate back to the real world. The clues for how to do that would almost certainly be gathered here as well.

Then there was the thought at the back of Sylasʼ mind, still pillaging about much to his lack of amusement.

The last piece to getting his method to work were precisely women like Ansla. He just didnʼt know how he felt about it.

There were two things Sylas had run into in this world that could trigger his need to evolve. The first was Demon meat, and the second? Well, wasnʼt that his Lust?

Whenever Sylas underwent a great amount of evolution, a certain lower-half piece of himself seemed to lose control.

Of course, he had never allowed it to rule him—it had never even come close to infringing on his free will. But the reality was very much there.

Every time his body underwent a shocking evolution, its desire to procreate hit a new gear, and it quickly wanted him to spread his seed—almost as though a child would be the anchor that made all of his efforts worth it.

Logically, this made sense to the universe. The entire point of the system was probably not even to help those alive right this moment. It was far more efficient for it to run those already alive into the ground, squeezing them dry of all of their potential, before forcing them to have children that would have far better starts.

Then do it all over again.

The more improvement a single person had over a single lifetime, the more resources it would take to produce the same results, so it wasnʼt in the best interest of the Laws of the Universe to pour so much into one life.

Even Earth before the Summoning was the same way. Sure, spontaneous mutations could happen, and environment could play a factor, but the most evolutionary change came from producing the next generation.

Unfortunately, that also became the last piece of Sylasʼ

puzzle.

The combination of \[Madness Control], the Gluttony Seed, and… the Lust Seed. Those three factors together would be able to weed out all the weakness from his body.

The most important point? Whether it was the Gluttony Seed or the Lust Seed, what he wanted to do would only be the most effective on Demons. Whether it was Demon flesh or… Demon flesh, both would trigger his bodyʼs desire to evolve more than anything else.

The little girl thought that heʼd run into a roadblock this time, but he hadnʼt. He had the solution. He just didnʼt know how he felt about using it.

Logically, Sylas had always been willing to do anything for improvement. But this still felt different.

The door to the room opened and Ansla strolled in. Her eyes seemed to light on fire when she saw Sylas.

Ever since she ”learned” that Sylas was a Charysm, her attitude hadnʼt necessarily changed, but she had instead become more accepting of the feelings Sylas had been making her experience since he appeared before her.

This man, despite being only of the F-tier, had already twisted her mind in the palm of his hands from the moment he flicked that finger toward her spear.

That power… that wasnʼt even something an E-tier should have. But that level of telekinesis—it was worthy of a Charysm. That was easily one of the pillars holding up her deduction.

Anslaʼs hips swayed, her gown an even more provocative cut and shade of red today. The smoothness of her belly, only interrupted by the gem that hung from her belly button, was an enticing glow to any man.

However, her expression itself was regal, cold, detached. As the maids stepped out of the way and she stepped before Sylas, their heights still just barely separated by a handful of inches, she looked him up and down before nodding.

”Presentable.”

Sylas didnʼt respond. There was no need to.

Ansla was quite smart. If she just started acting lovey-dovey, it would come off as something completely out of left field.

That had never been the type of woman she was.

Instead, she acted exactly how she would if she really did get herself a boy toy. To her, Sylas was a tool to suit her needs—a tool good enough that she had decided he was decent enough to be used as a shield to get rid of the other annoyances around her.

Everything made perfect sense. If one of those Noble Demons got her, she would just be a political tool. If she had Sylas, she could still control her own path for a little while longer.

”Letʼs go.”
