Eternal Thief

Chapter 1418: Equilux Balance Ruler

Damien’s eyes were affixed on the golden-white ruler, his expression unreadable but tinged with reverence and triumph.

’According to my ’vision’ this... is the Equilux Balance Ruler—a Deity Grade Treasure forged by a Heaven Defier who wanted to imitate the rules of Heavenly Justice with his deep comprehension of value, order, and prosperity.

’He almost succeeded and was about to achieve the forbidden grade, and create an Eternal Provenance Treasure, but the heavens deemed it dangerous. Therefore, it was fated for destruction.

’But the Heaven Defier, true to his nature, refused to let his magnum opus be erased. He split his own legacy and embedded the ruler within it, sealing it in Chaotic Space where even Heaven’s Will dims.

’In the end, it somehow ended up in the Mortal Ascension Heaven and became the cornerstone of the PHW King Sect and the reason behind its rise.

’It’s an instrument of absolute judgment, definition, and correction. Its dual-aspect design—a quill-like nib and a sigil-bearing square tip—perfectly embodies its dual function: to define value and to enforce balance...’

At this moment, Damien couldn’t help but sneer with derision, ’But so what? In the end, we still found it; now, it’ll be used in the service of Justice and become a tool of Heavenly Justice. It’ll be my trump card against the Heaven’s Stealer...’

Damien was ecstatic as he looked at the Equilux Balance Ruler. It was a priceless treasure that shouldn’t even exist in the Mortal Ascension Heaven. If not for his presence, even Heaven wouldn’t be able to detect it.

Nonetheless, after all the efforts and danger he had endured, it was all worth it.

Damien reached with his hand as he wanted to grab the Equilux Balance Ruler, but the treasure trembled as if completely unwilling to fall into Damien’s hands. It was like the treasure had already sensed Damien’s origin and wanted to escape, but alas, the seal had significantly weakened it.

The whole reason for this seal was to weaken the Equilux Balance Ruler, so its existence wouldn’t be detected by Heaven. But now, for the same reason, Damien was about to take it with his meager power.

Furthermore, Damien has already been equipped with tools to suppress the Equilux Balance Ruler and won’t let it escape.

Just as Damien was about to touch the Equilux Balance Ruler, a sudden sense of crisis overwhelmed his mind and startled him.

Damien instantly thought that Ace had succumbed to his greed and sneak attacked him, but at this moment...

”Watch out!” Ace’s horrified voice also rang from far away, which made Damien even more shocked. If this wasn’t Ace, then who was?

Nonetheless, Damien could feel the terrifying power behind this attack, and if he grabbed the Equilux Balance Ruler, he would probably be gravely wounded.

It must be known that Damien wasn’t even afraid of an attack by the Prosperity Matriarch, and this sense of crisis originated from his very being. Moreover, Damien had ensured that no Ascension King could enter this place for a specific period, and Ace could enter it because he wasn’t an Ascension King.

Unwillingly, he chose to preserve his life because he knew the attacker had chosen this very moment for a reason. Which also means the attacker was an expert. Furthermore, he still has to deal with Prosperity Matriarch and the PHW King Sect, so he couldn’t afford to get gravely injured.

The next moment, Damien’s body suddenly burst into countless light particles, and just when he vanished, a pitch-black blade appeared right where Damien’s head had been a moment ago.

”Tsk...” A perplexed voice rang before a hooded figure appeared right where Damien was.

But he didn’t wait to discover Damien’s location; without hesitation, he grabbed the Equilux Balance Ruler. Furthermore, this time, the Equilux Balance Ruler didn’t show any resistance; in fact, it seemed excited.

The next moment, the Equilux Balance Ruler, which can’t be stored in ordinary space treasures, even living space treasures, vanished without a trace, and an eerie silence descended on the legacy space.

”Where is the Equilux Balance Ruler!?” An enraged voice filled with boundless killing intent suddenly reverberated throughout the legacy space.

It was Damien. His body seemed to be reconstructed from the light particles as his figure appeared hundreds of meters away from the Equilux Balance Ruler position.

But at this moment, Damien’s eyes suddenly widened when he had a good look at his assailant, especially when he saw the imposing owl symbol embroidered on the back of the dark-clad figure’s robe.

Damien was incredulous and appalled as he instantly recognized that owl symbol, and he knew only one person between Heaven and Abyss would dare to wear that symbol. Furthermore, a special sense instantly activated within Damien’s very being.

He cried in a gravelly voice, ”H-Heaven’s Stealer?!”

The assailant was indeed Ace as he turned around and looked in Damien’s direction. Not only was he here, he was here with his body, not just his soul, and now he could feel the infinitely loathsome feeling, and hatred originated from his very being.

Like Damien can recognize Ace, the latter can do the same because of their lineages.

”Heaven’s Advocate. It’s not a pleasure to see you.” Ace coldly ’greeted’.

”How could it be you?!” Damien was in utter disbelief as he couldn’t comprehend the reason behind Ace’s arrival.

”Why can’t it be me?” Ace chuckled slyly.

’How did he avoid my Heavenly Justice sense?! Furthermore, he appeared so close and so quickly, which shouldn’t be possible according to my master. I can sense the Heaven’s Stealer coming from miles away, no matter what kind of trick he used, yet I failed?!’

Damien felt like he was in a nightmare, as everything he knew suddenly crumbled. If only he had known about the Avatar of Holy Twilight standing not far away from him.

Now that ’Heaven’s Stealer’ was here, Damien completely forgot about ’Ace’ because his existence couldn’t compare to Heaven’s Stealer!

’Ace’ innocently yet gravely inquired, almost making Damien stumble right where he stood, ”Umm, Mr. Heaven’s Advocate, is he your friend?”
