Eternal Thief

Chapter 1416: Enemy at Narrow Road

Damien really wanted to get rid of Ace as quickly and discreetly as possible because he was afraid of alerting the Prosperity Matriarch.

Although Damien had already guessed Ace’s identity as the second ’Heaven Chosen,’ he was still confident in overpowering him because he was the Son of Heaven, and the representative of ’Heavenly Justice,’ the Heaven’s Advocate!

Damien didn’t know that Ace had the same confidence, but he wasn’t blinded by arrogance because this wasn’t his main body.

Sensing the terrifying attack, Ace quickly dodged as dark golden spirit Qi bloomed from his soul.

A bright golden claw suddenly appeared right where Ace stood momentarily before and grabbed nothing but empty air.

Damien’s figure also appeared. With a hint of astonishment in his eyes, he looked towards Ace, who was now tens of meters away from his position.

But Ace’s expression was solemn as he looked at Damien because in that instant, he had already grasped the huge difference between Damien and his prowess, because Damien’s spirit Qi seemed far superior and potent.

Moreover, that spirit Qi was extremely strange, giving him another sense of familiarity. Lastly, Damien was at the Ascension Grand General Realm, probably in the late stages!

”You have some skills.” Damien commented before he coldly said, ”But I didn’t even use 40% of my actual power. You are no match for me, so why don’t you just give up? You are talented and might be a Heaven Chosen with four blessings of Fantastic Physique, Fantastic Meridians, Bloodline, and Divine Aspect.

”But I can assure you that whatever advantage and blessing you have, I have them as well. In fact, mine are far superior to yours because I’m the Son of Heaven, a being far superior to Heaven Chosen!” Damien declared boldly that his body had suddenly emitted a profound aura.

The moment Ace heard those words, his mind suddenly froze, and a hint of incredulity surfaced in his eyes.

”W-who are you, really?”

After hearing the truth behind his identity as the Son of Heaven, Damien thought Ace’s reaction was normal. He believed that since Ace was told about the Heaven Chosen, he would’ve also known about the Son of Heaven.

Furthermore, unlike Ace, Damien wasn’t afraid of hiding his identity. In fact, he disdains it because this would make him no different from the Heaven’s Stealer, who was like a rat hiding in the darkness. Why would the Heaven’s Advocate need to do the same?

He was the harbinger of Justice, this was imbued in his very bones, his bloodlines, and soul!

”Well, since it’s come to this and Heaven also favors you, it’ll be wasting Heaven’s favor if we fight each other, instead of confronting the enemy of Heaven.

”Listen well, junior. I’m the representative of Heaven, who is sent in this world to bring justice to myriad heavenly beings and rid these lands of the criminals of ages. I’m Heaven’s Advocate!” Damien declared with an imposing tone as his primordial aura suddenly emitted from his body.

Ace was blinking with a blank yet comical look on his face. Even his main body was gobsmacked right now, and his expression was similar to that of a huge explosion in his mind. Even the parallel mind couldn’t keep up with the shock.

”Son of a...” Ace couldn’t help but murmur absent-mindedly.

”Hmm?” Damien suddenly frowned as he looked at Ace.

”I-I mean, are you really the Son of Heaven, the Heaven’s Advocate?!” Ace quickly reacted as he asked for confirmation.

But inwardly, he was cursing furiously, and his feelings were complex because he had thought about countless possibilities about countering his fated enemy and was aware of the Heaven’s Advocate’s presence.

However, meeting him like this was out of his imagination, and from how things were going, Heaven’s Advocate had no clue who he was, which made Ace both amused and apprehensive.

Amusing because Damien had given away his identity so easily, while apprehensive because Damien had appeared in the PHW King Sect out of the blue.

”If I weren’t the Heaven’s Advocate, do you think the Wealth King would’ve wanted to keep me here?” Damien sneered with a hint of displeasure in his eyes; he was clearly not fond of Prosperity Matriarch.

”Is that so?” Ace replied with a hint of helplessness.

Now that he knew who Damien was, he didn’t dare risk going against him with only his avatar since it would mean wasting billions of TP.

After all, he was now sure that Damien had the Primordial Qi as well because he finally understood why Damien’s spirit Qi had given him the feeling of familiarity and dread.

Although the Holy Twilight Spirit Qi was slightly weaker than the Primordial Qi, he didn’t dare to overestimate himself. Furthermore, Damien had no idea who he was and even seemed to have other plans for a ’Heaven Chosen’ like him. Ace would be a fool not to use this opportunity to his advantage.

”So, have you finally come to your senses, or do you want to continue? But this time I won’t show you mercy!” Damien coldly threatened.

But inwardly, Damien also felt that Ace’s attitude was somewhat different. It was as if he had become somewhat submissive or no longer wanted to fight him.

’Did he really accept the difference between us so easily?’ Damien was unsure.

’Damn it! Now that I know that guy is the Heaven’s Advocate, I can’t let that item fall into his hands even more because he’s clearly here for it. Something that can make Heaven’s Advocate take such a risk shouldn’t be normal at all.

’What if he’s preparing to use that thing against me? NO, he’s most likely going to do it!’ The more Ace thought about it, the more uneasy he felt, and he was unwilling to let Damien take that item.

He can let anyone else have it, but not Damien, because they were destined to fight and kill each other.

Ace’s mind raced, and after contemplating his options, he gritted his teeth and said, ”Alright, I’m not a match for you. I’m just an Ascension Warrior. I’ll relinquish the item; you are more qualified to have it than I am. But I need assurance that you won’t backstab me.”

Damien frowned and seemed unhappy. ”I’m Heaven’s Advocate. I would never fall so low as to go back on my words! My every action is for Justice, and unless you go against me, I have no reason to act against you either. In fact, you should consider joining me. Your place is beside me; these sects are merely your stepping stone!”

Ace wanted to roll his eyes, but he controlled his expressions and appeared somewhat doubtful and hesitant.

In the end, he appeared to be making an extremely hard decision before he nodded, ”Alright, but still, we just met, and you also attacked me first. So, I won’t be at ease in your presence, and you should have the same thought.

”That’s why you should first take that item and leave this place. Only then can I put my mind at ease and comprehend the knowledge!”
