Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 293: Chapter 293: With Wenhui there, what am I needed for?

After a heavy sigh, she continued to grumble, ”Being asked to take care of her is honestly suffocating. If she were nice, as her elder cousin, it would be my duty to look after her. But no, she acts as if her injury was my fault, endlessly finding ways to torment me. The moment I speak with a slightly harsh tone, she immediately turns into a drama queen, with an expression of fragility and helplessness, as if I, her cousin, am some sort of monster. It’s utterly disgusting.”

Shi Jingfang gave her daughter a disapproving stare. ”What kind of language is that?”

Ye Wenhui stuck out her tongue. ”I’m just so irritated by her. If it wasn’t for Uncle’s sake, I would have thrown in the towel and left already.”

Shi Jingfang took her daughter to buy Malt Essence, canned tangerines, and two bags of pastries. She also bought some apples when she saw they were for sale, and then they headed back to the hospital.

Although Shi Jingfang disliked Ye Wenjuan, as an elder, she naturally couldn’t stoop to argue with someone younger.

Back in the ward, she placed the items on the bedside table. ”Wenjuan, I’ve already called your dad. I have work commitments and can’t delay things here, so I can’t take care of you. Don’t neglect yourselves these next few days. Both of you sisters should have a cup of Malt Essence daily; taking care of your health is what’s most important.”

She then addressed her daughter, ”You’re the elder sister; she’s injured right now, try to be more accommodating.”

After exchanging a few pleasantries, she hurried off to catch her train.

She insisted on them drinking Malt Essence daily precisely because she didn’t want her own daughter to be at a disadvantage, having to take care of someone else while only being able to watch Ye Wenjuan consume the nutritional supplements.

Just as she guessed, Ye Bingkun took leave immediately after hanging up the phone.

When Zhang Baoxiang heard her daughter was injured, she exclaimed, ”You’re saying Wenjuan is hurt?”

Ye Bingkun nodded. ”Yes, Second Sister-in-law just called me at my workplace.”

Zhang Baoxiang asked anxiously, ”Where is she hurt? Is it serious?”

Seeing her reaction, Ye Bingkun said, ”Don’t worry, she injured her calf. She’ll be fine after some rest. Quickly pack your things; I’m going to request leave for you now. You can take the afternoon train.”

Zhang Baoxiang suddenly came to her senses. ”Isn’t Wenhui there? Why should I go?”

Ye Bingkun’s face turned cold. ”She’s hurt her leg. How can Wenhui manage on her own? Even going to the bathroom is a problem.”

Zhang Baoxiang retorted, ”Isn’t Second Sister-in-law there on a business trip? Can’t she help take care of her for a few days?”

Ye Bingkun burst into anger. ”Zhang Baoxiang, that’s your daughter, not a daughter from the Second House! What kind of mother are you?”

Zhang Baoxiang, seeing her husband flare up, got angry too. Now that she had both a son and a daughter, she wasn’t going to be meek and afraid of him driving her away anymore. ”Why are you yelling at me? I’m her mother, and you’re her father! Why don’t you go take care of her?”

Ye Bingkun was furious at her words. ”Our daughter is a young woman now! How can I, a grown man, take care of her personal needs? What would that look like?”

Though reluctant to go, Zhang Baoxiang found she could no longer argue. ”Fine, whatever you say. I’ll go, alright?”

Seeing her concede, Ye Bingkun said, ”Hurry up and pack. I’ll go talk to your supervisor to request your leave, and then I’ll take you to the train station.”

Before coming back, he had already called his second elder brother, Ye Binglin, asking him to buy a train ticket in advance so Zhang Baoxiang could board immediately and not be delayed.

And so, Ye Bingkun, making sure she was there right on time, put Zhang Baoxiang on the train to Ji Province.
