Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 289: Chapter 289 Please Don’t Make Things Difficult for Me

Song Jiayao said with a worried expression, ”We weren’t together at the time, so we don’t know if they were injured or not.”

More people continued to arrive at the warming tent for treatment, and Yunyi was too busy to continue talking with Song Jiayao.

Just then, a commotion was heard from outside. ”Make way, make way, please!”

Then, someone was seen running over, carrying a person. ”Doctor, quick, save this person!”

As Yunyi was still helping someone with a scrape, Doctor Qiu and a barefoot doctor went to meet them.

A girl was heard crying, ”Quick, take me to the hospital! I don’t want to be treated here.”

Yunyi found the voice somewhat familiar, but the person’s face was completely covered in dust, so she couldn’t see who it was.

Just then, someone beside the injured girl spoke up, ”Wenjuan, stop making a fuss. Let the doctor check you first and see where you’re hurt.”

But the injured girl was uncooperative. ”What good doctors could there be here? My leg was hit by a stone! I don’t want to become a cripple. I want to go to the county for treatment!”

Seeing her uncooperative, the female educated youth beside her also grew angry. ”Ye Wenjuan, this isn’t the time for you to be so demanding! Don’t delay your own treatment.”

At these words, the girl finally quieted down. But when she saw it was a male doctor approaching, she started shouting again, ”Wait! Get a female doctor to check me!”

Doctor Qiu was now somewhat angry. ”There are still many people waiting for treatment; there’s no time to waste here.”

But Ye Wenjuan adamantly refused. ”No! How could I face anyone in the future?”

Doctor Qiu’s and the barefoot doctor’s expressions immediately soured. The barefoot doctor turned and went to help someone else with their wounds.

Doctor Qiu didn’t want to waste any more time on her. He said to the people who had carried her in, ”The tractor driver is standing right under that tree. Considering her condition, it’s best to get her to the hospital quickly. Don’t delay.”

Since she didn’t want their help, he wasn’t going to insist. Who knew how many more troublesome issues might arise later?

As soon as Doctor Qiu left, Ye Wenjuan was stunned. Then she saw Yunyi in the crowd. ”Cousin, isn’t there a female doctor over there? Let her check me first; otherwise, I really won’t feel at ease.”

Ye Wenhui said with some displeasure, ”Do you actually want to get better or not? You’re injured, yet you’re still being so picky. Have you considered what might happen if your treatment is delayed and you end up with a chronic condition?”

Ye Wenjuan became anxious. ”Cousin, hurry and find the tractor driver! Have him take me to the county.”

The thought of developing a chronic condition made her injured leg seem to throb even more painfully. ”I can’t take it! I can’t! Quickly, get me to the county hospital! My leg hurts terribly!”

Ye Wenhui felt like she was about to die from exasperation. How could she be so unlucky to be grouped with Ye Wenjuan? It was utterly infuriating!

When they found the tractor driver and explained the situation, he said, ”If you want me to take you, that’s fine, but you’ll need the leader’s approval. This tractor is public property; I can’t make that decision on my own.”

Ye Wenjuan was infuriated. ”We came here to support local construction! Now that I’m injured, you can’t even take me to the hospital? This is outrageous bullying!”

The tractor driver became anxious. ”Comrade, don’t spout such nonsense! I never said I wouldn’t take you. It’s just that I have to follow orders. Please don’t make things difficult for me. I’m just a tractor driver. How would I know if you genuinely need to be taken to the county for treatment? If everyone came asking me for a ride, imagine how much diesel that would waste!”

Ye Wenjuan cried out, ”Are you saying that the lives of us educated youth are worth less than a bit of diesel fuel?”
