Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 263: Chapter 263: You Actually Arrived a Long Time Ago, Right?

As for why he did not have memories of his past two lives, it was not important to Yunyi. What mattered was that she had found him. Even if he never remembered the past, what did it matter as long as he liked her now?

Huo Jingrui was a bit puzzled. He did not understand why she became so emotional upon seeing the Jade Pendant, nor did he grasp why she instructed him so earnestly, ”This Jade Pendant...”

Yunyi touched the Jade Pendant, then personally slipped it back into his shirt pocket. ”Remember what I’ve said, never part with this Jade Pendant. When the time comes, you will understand.”

Upon hearing Yunyi’s words, Huo Jingrui did not dwell on it any further and placed his hand over his shirt pocket. ”Okay.”

He himself did not know why. Despite having known each other for just a few days, he always felt he could trust her, that everything felt so natural.

The instant Yunyi looked up, Huo Jingrui was looking down, and their eyes met, full of tenderness and affection.

Huo Jingrui gazed at her soft, pink lips, unconsciously swallowing, his heartbeat quickening. He really wanted to lean down and kiss her.But they had only just confirmed their relationship, and it was not right to be rash with a lady.

He struggled to contain the impulse within him.
Seeing him like this, Yunyi’s lips curled up teasingly. ”Do you want to try a taste?”

Her words turned him, a grown man, red in the face. Yet if he backed down after the love of his life had spoken as such, wouldn’t he seem too cowardly?

Yunyi, watching the changes in his expression, was secretly delighted. This was the man she had chosen; what need was there for modesty? She tiptoed and planted a quick kiss on his lips.

Huo Jingrui’s mind was suddenly ablaze with fireworks. By the time he realized what was happening, he had already pulled back the retreating figure and kissed her deeply.

This kiss went from initial awkwardness to a familiarity as if they had done it a thousand times before.

Afterward, Huo Jingrui’s mind flooded with many past images. Although people now dismissed feudal superstitions, and he himself thought it somewhat absurd, he felt that he and Yunyi might truly have a bond that spanned past and present lives.Regardless, now that their relationship was confirmed, this little woman before him was the one he had to protect for a lifetime.

When they finally parted, breathless, Yunyi felt a touch of shyness. It was, after all, her first kiss in this life.

Huo Jingrui saw that she was a bit unsteady and promptly swept her off her feet. He sat at the edge of the bed and held her in his arms. ”Feeling shy now, are you?”

Upon hearing this, Yunyi looked up coquettishly. ”What, am I not allowed?”

Huo Jingrui found her adorable demeanor irresistible and kissed her pouting lips once more. ”How can you be so endearing?”

The two then held each other for a long while until their tumultuous emotions had calmed.

It was only then that Huo Jingrui spoke. ”It’s getting late, you should rest. I’ll come see you tomorrow.”

Yunyi was reluctant to let him go. But propriety dictated otherwise. She was new here, after all, and there were things to consider. ”Okay, I can rest all of tomorrow, too.”

Reluctantly setting her down, Huo Jingrui said, ”You don’t need to come out; I’ll close the front door for you, then just jump the wall to leave. I’ll bring you breakfast early in the morning.”

Yunyi sat on the bed, wrapping her arms around Huo Jingrui’s waist. ”Why does it suddenly feel so surreal?”

Huo Jingrui pinched her face. ”Does it hurt? Is it real enough for you now? You do have a significant other, after all.”

At those words, Yunyi looked up with squinting eyes. ”You were actually here earlier, weren’t you?”

Huo Jingrui hadn’t expected his own words to give him away. Since she had guessed it, there was no need to hide it any longer. ”When I came looking for you, I heard there was quite the commotion here, so I didn’t rashly come in to disturb.”

Yunyi burst into laughter. ”Then may I ask, what were your feelings at the time?”

Huo Jingrui was amused by her question and nipped her lip lightly in response. ”What do you think? I traveled all this way for the girl I like. First, I came up empty. Then, when I finally found her, she was merrily drinking and chatting with someone else.”

The accusation in his eyes immediately made Yunyi erupt into laughter.
