Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant

Chapter 290: Chapter 290 It Would Be Strange If I Didn’t Hate Myself

This scared the tractor driver, who retorted, ”Don’t misinterpret my meaning. My family has been poor peasants for eight generations, and we’re not afraid of you causing trouble.”

Ye Wenhui felt that Ye Wenjuan was being utterly senseless. ”What time do you think this is? Try to cause less trouble.”

Everything was chaotic now. Where could she possibly find a leader?

Glancing at Ye Wenjuan, who was still groaning in pain, she said, ”You all wait here. I’ll go find someone.”

Fortunately, she was in luck. There were a few people with severe injuries who needed to be transported to the county hospital. She quickly spoke with them, registered Ye Wenjuan, and then called over the people carrying her.

Those people were also annoyed by Ye Wenjuan, so after they got her into the back of the Dongfeng truck, they all left.

But bound by their relationship as cousins, Ye Wenhui had no choice but to accompany her to the hospital.

The county leaders took today’s safety accident very seriously. The public security bureau had also sent someone over to investigate whether it was an accident or intentional sabotage.

It wasn’t until dusk that Yunyi and the other lightly injured educated youths finally took a tractor back to the Agricultural Reclamation Group.

Everyone at the Agricultural Reclamation Group was also discussing today’s incident.

Yunyi was also deep in thought, pondering whether today’s misfire was accidental or deliberate, and if it was related to previous incidents.

Upon returning, instead of going straight home, she first went to the health clinic to help settle the injured before preparing to head back.

Just as she was about to go back to her office to take off her white coat, she saw a woman stumbling over, crying out, ”Doctor, where’s my daughter? Where is she injured?”

Yunyi quickly supported the woman. ”What’s your daughter’s name?”

The woman, gasping for breath, said, ”My daughter’s name is Ye Wenhui. Where is she?”

Yunyi had already memorized the names of everyone admitted to the ward behind the health clinic. She shook her head. ”We don’t have anyone by that name here.”

She suddenly thought of Ye Wenjuan. The girl standing next to her must have been Ye Wenhui, as she had heard Ye Wenjuan call that person ’cousin.’

She remembered that Wei Zijia had been pushed off the vehicle by Ye Wenjuan. If she hadn’t been passing by, who knows how badly Wei Zijia would have been injured?

It was because of that incident that she had gotten to know Wei Zijia, Qiao Wenyu, and Zheng Xuewen.

Shi Jingfang was somewhat panicked. ”If she’s not here, then where is she?”

Yunyi gently removed the woman’s hand from her arm. ”She probably went with Ye Wenjuan to the county for treatment.”

Upon hearing Ye Wenjuan’s name, Shi Jingfang asked, ”You’ve seen them? Wenjuan is injured? How badly? Where is she hurt?”

Yunyi nodded. ”I saw them earlier at the reservoir construction site. Ye Wenjuan injured her leg. She was insisting on going to the county hospital for treatment, so she was sent there with the other severely injured individuals.”

Shi Jingfang breathed a sigh of relief. ”So, my daughter Wenhui isn’t injured, right?”

Yunyi thought for a moment. ”I don’t know your daughter, but I heard the educated youth, Ye Wenjuan, call the young woman next to her ’cousin.’ From her appearance, she didn’t seem to be injured.”

Shi Jingfang looked at Yunyi. ”Thank you, Doctor.”

After saying this, she turned to leave. But then, remembering there was no transport available at this hour, she asked, ”Could you please tell me which direction the Group headquarters is?”

Yunyi pointed towards the headquarters. ”It’s that way.”

It was already dark, and there were no vehicles heading back to the county town, so she had to find someone to help.

「Meanwhile.」

Ye Wenhui was truly fuming at Ye Wenjuan. ”Ye Wenjuan, it’s true you’re injured, but I am not your servant! If you keep making unreasonable demands, don’t blame me if I just walk out of here.”

Following her around today had been utterly humiliating!

She caused trouble at the construction site, and she continued to cause trouble even at the county hospital. Who did she think she was, making such a scene in an unfamiliar place without any restraint?

It was truly exasperating.

Ye Wenjuan saw that her cousin was genuinely angry. ”My leg is hurting terribly, and I was in a bad mood. That’s why I said those things. It wasn’t intentional. Please don’t be angry with me.”

Ye Wenhui couldn’t be bothered with her. She picked up the borrowed basin and walked out of the ward, saying, ”Just keep quiet and don’t cause any more trouble.”

Ye Wenjuan watched Ye Wenhui’s retreating figure, a hint of smugness flashing in her eyes.

She had done it on purpose. If she was suffering, she didn’t want her cousin to have it easy either. Why? Because Ye Wenhui was usually close with Ye Wenyue from the main house. In the eyes of their family, she, Ye Wenjuan, was inferior to both of them in every way. No wonder she resented them.
