Chapter 2024: Secret Gifts in Life

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

“Well, in addition to the dishes you ordered, the other dishes and these two bottles of red wine are gifts from our Ms. Yun,” the male manager said with a smile

“Also, Ms. Yun mentioned that she would come by later to offer a toast.”

“She’s coming to offer a toast?”

Zhou Xinyu’s eyes sparkled with disbelief.

How much respect did that take?

Was Chen Teng really this influential?

“Our Ms. Yun said so, but as for anything else, I’m not sure.” The male manager gestured politely, “Please enjoy your meal. If there’s anything not to your taste, let me know, and I’ll have it adjusted.”

“Alright, thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

With that, the male manager didn’t stay in the private room any longer and turned to leave.

“Auntie, Cousin, all the dishes are here now, so let’s eat before they get cold,” Chen Teng said, feeling very pleased with himself.

“Sure, sure.”

Looking at the table full of dishes and the two bottles of wine, each priced over twenty thousand, Yan Ci was puzzled.

It didn’t seem like Chen Teng had that much influence.

“Mom, try this braised pork; it’s really delicious,” Zhou Xinyu said.

“Braised pork is too greasy. The doctor said I shouldn’t eat anything too oily; you go ahead. I’ll eat something else.”

“Oh, speaking of doctors, that reminds me,” Chen Teng said, putting down his chopsticks.

“I’ve already arranged everything with the hospital. It’s a doctor at Huashan Hospital, so you won’t have to wait in line. You’ll be seen as soon as you arrive; it’s very convenient.”

Huashan Hospital?

Lin Yi murmured to himself, not expecting that Chen Teng would have connections at Huashan Hospital.

Yan Ci’s aunt had heart problems, which would involve the cardiology department, which was his own territory.

Lin Yi wondered who Chen Teng had arranged for the treatment.

“I know Huashan Hospital,” Tang Li said.

“It’s a famous hospital, and its always on TV, but I’ve heard the medical costs are quite high. Maybe we should go to another hospital.”

Hearing Tang Li mention money, Chen Teng chuckled.

“Auntie, don’t worry, I’ve taken care of everything; it won’t cost much.”

“Not much?” Tang Li was skeptical. “Hospitals are all public institutions; you can’t negotiate prices. I don’t have medical insurance, so going to such a good hospital will cost at least tens of thousands.”

“You’re overthinking it,” Chen Teng leaned back in his chair, exuding an air of confidence.

“Normally, going to a hospital like Huashan does cost a lot, but since I know the doctor there, you won’t have to pay for the treatment. There might be a small fee for the tests, but it will be a price that any ordinary person can afford, so rest assured, you won’t even spend a thousand yuan.”

“Really? You can get treatment for less than a thousand yuan?” Tang Li was surprised.

That amount wouldn’t even be enough at a hospital in their third-tier city.

“Chen Teng is your future son-in-law; he wouldn’t lie to you about something like this,” Zhou Xinyu said proudly.

“You should trust his abilities.”

“Alright, alright, I believe you,” Tang Li said with a smile.

Saving money was always a good thing, no matter the situation.

Throughout this discussion, Lin Yi remained silent.

Since Yan Ci was in charge of this situation, he decided to follow her lead without getting too involved.

“So you don’t need to worry about anything, just go ahead and get the treatment,” Zhou Xinyu said.

“And you’ve seen it yourself, Chen Teng came here for a meal, and even though he doesn’t know the owner, they still served us all these dishes. When we go to the hospital, with his friend there, it’ll be even better. You might not even spend a thousand yuan.”

“That would be wonderful.”

At this moment, Chen Teng felt extremely pleased with himself.

He hadn’t expected that coming here for a meal would result in such high regard from the owner. When she came to offer a toast, he would need to reciprocate the gesture.

In the future, he would definitely give her special attention as a courtesy.

Knock, knock, knock!

“Come in.”

Just as Chen Teng was basking in his own satisfaction, the door to the private room was knocked on, and he responded.

The door opened, and Yun Shu entered with the male manager.

Yun Shu’s appearance left Chen Teng feeling dazzled.

The woman before him was nearly the same type as Yan Ci—stunningly beautiful, with an alluring figure, a true earthly enchantress.

If he could hold her, the feeling would surely be amazing.

“Everyone, this is the owner of Furong Xiang, Ms. Yun Shu.”

The group quickly understood that the elegant woman must be the owner of Furong Xiang as soon as she appeared.

“Ms. Yun, nice to meet you. You’re too kind.”

Chen Teng said as he stood up, pouring her a glass of wine.

“Rest assured, I’m a straightforward person. In the future, I’ll handle any business matters related to industry and commerce at your restaurant. You won’t have to worry about a thing.”

Yun Shu smiled and nodded, “Thank you very much, Mr. Chen.”

Then she poured herself a glass of wine and raised it toward Lin Yi.

“Mr. Lin, thank you for dining at Furong Xiang. On behalf of all the staff here, I offer you a toast and hope you have an enjoyable meal.”

Huh?

Chen Teng and Zhou Xinyu were both stunned.

Out of everyone here, Lin Yi had been the most inconspicuous.

Why was the owner of Furong Xiang offering a toast to Yan Ci’s boyfriend?

Lin Yi and Yan Ci were just as surprised.

Lin Yi scrutinized Yun Shu, certain that he didn’t know her.

Why was she offering him a toast?

It didn’t make sense!

But as the saying goes, you don’t hit someone who’s smiling at you. Since she had come to offer a toast, it wouldn’t be appropriate to act too aloof.

Yan Ci, understanding the situation, poured a glass of wine for Lin Yi, who accepted it and gently clinked glasses with Yun Shu.

“Thank you for the hospitality.”

“You’re too kind, Mr. Lin. It’s our honor to have you dine at Furong Xiang,” Yun Shu said with a smile.

“I’ve already informed the staff that you won’t need to make a reservation in the future. We’ll always have a private room reserved for you, and no matter how much you spend, it will all be on the house.”

“Uh…”

Hearing this, Chen Teng and Zhou Xinyu exchanged bewildered looks, unable to speak.

They hadn’t expected that the reason they were given a private room and so many dishes was not because of them!

It was all because of this man!

“That’s very generous of you,” Lin Yi said politely, though he had no intention of returning to dine here.

As the saying goes, every gift in life comes with a hidden price.

Yun Shu’s actions surely had ulterior motives, and Lin Yi understood social interactions all too well.
