“Recently, my aunt has been experiencing heart issues. She didn’t get proper treatment locally, so she wants to come to Zhonghai for a checkup,” Yan Ci said.

“I don’t have the same connections in this area as you do, so I called you.”

“I thought it was something serious,” Lin Yi said.

“Leave it to me. I’ll make sure everything is taken care of.”

“I knew I could count on you.” Yan Ci beamed. “But the checkup is just one small thing. There’s another favor I need from you.”

“Go ahead. As long as it’s something I can do, I’ll handle it.”

“I want to ask, did you attend the family meeting when your sister got married?”

“Huh? Family meeting?”

“Yes, also known as the meeting of in-laws. Did you attend it?”

“When my sister got married, there wasn’t any process like this,” Lin Yi said.

“At that time, Ji Qingyan and I had dinner with my brother-in-law’s sister, but the parents didn’t meet beforehand.”

“I see,” Yan Ci said thoughtfully.

“Do you have any plans tomorrow?”

“Nope,” Lin Yi replied. “But I’d like to know what you need.”

“My cousin and her boyfriend have been together for over two years and are at the age for marriage. Both families want to meet, and I’ve been roped in as a chaperone,” Yan Ci sighed.

“I think you mentioned your cousin before. You two aren’t that close. Why are you getting involved?”

“You think I want to?” Yan Ci said.

“It’s my aunt. When I was young, my parents were busy with work, so I stayed with my aunt all the time. She’s like a second mother to me. Plus, my uncle passed away early, and she’s been supporting the family alone. Now that she needs my help, I have to step up.”

“Now I get it,” Lin Yi said. “You’ve been put on the spot.”

“Exactly. I have no experience with this. If you’re free, come with me.”

“Come with you?” Lin Yi was surprised.

“This is a family matter. It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to go.”

“The main issue is my mom wants to meet my boyfriend and see if he’s suitable,” Yan Ci said.

“You’ve shared a bed and fun times with me, and now, it’s time to show up. Don’t let me down.”

“It’s just a meeting. No big deal. I’ll make sure it goes smoothly for you.”

“Hmph, that’s better,” Yan Ci said.

“Their train arrives in Zhonghai around four in the afternoon. Come with me to pick them up. If you’re free in the afternoon, we can go walk around.”

“You want to go shopping?”

“You’re smart,” Yan Ci laughed.

“Fine. I need to buy some things too,” Lin Yi said. “Where should I meet you in the afternoon?”

“I’ll be at the company. You can find me there.”

“Alright, see you then.”

After discussing the matter, Lin Yi hung up and called Zhou Haitao from Zhonghai International Racetrack, then asked him to have someone bring his Alphard over.

Since he was going to pick someone up, he wanted to ensure it was comfortable.

After arranging the car, Lin Yi lay on the bed to rest and gather his energy for meeting Yan Ci in the afternoon.

Just then, a young nurse entered the ward. Lin Yi noticed she looked unfamiliar.

He glanced at her name tag and saw it said Zhonghai City Health School.

Lin Yi understood; she was an intern nurse.

“Ma’am, it’s time for your IV. I’m going to insert the needle. It might hurt a little at first, please bear with it.”

“What do you mean by insert the needle?” The elderly woman asked.

“It’s like an IV drip. It’s a venous injection, but after the needle is inserted, you won’t need to be pricked every day.”

“I see.” The old woman smiled and cooperated.

“Nurse, my mother’s condition is serious. Can the injection work faster?”

A young man sitting next to the elderly woman who was likely her son asked suddenly.

“Faster? It varies from person to person, but the effect is generally similar.”

“No, no, I mean, is there another method, like arterial injection?”

“Arterial injection?”

The young nurse was confused, and so was Lin Yi.

“You’re a nurse, so you must know about this. Venous injection is slow, but arterial flow is fast, so the medication works quicker.”

Lin Yi, “…”

Young nurse, “…”

It was clear the young nurse was at a loss for words.

“Buddy, you’ve misunderstood,” Lin Yi said.

“How?”

“Arterial means it’s a moving vessel, so it can’t be injected into. It has to be a venous injection.”

“Now I understand. Let’s stick with the venous injection.”

In less than half an hour, Lin Yi finished his IV drip and had lunch with Li Chuhan before leaving the hospital.

Ring, ring, ring!

As soon as Lin Yi stepped out of the eighth inpatient ward, his phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number.

“Hello?”

“Mr. Lin, it’s me, Wang Shuguang.”

Lin Yi was a bit surprised to receive this call.

What was interesting was that he hadn’t gone to deal with them yet, but they proactively called him.

“What can I do for you?”

“Mr. Lin, it’s like this. You gave me face last night and helped me out, so my boss wants to invite you for a meal and make friends.”

Lin Yi smirked, finding the situation somewhat amusing.

They wanted to treat him to a meal.

“I’m busy for the next few days. I have other commitments.”

“No problem. It’s not urgent. You take care of your matters first, and we’ll wait for your availability,” Wang Shuguang said cheerfully.

“Whenever you’re free, give me a call. We’re all from Zhonghai, so we’ll be friends in the future.”

“Alright.”

After a brief acknowledgment, Lin Yi hung up the phone and drove to Yan Ci’s company.

Within minutes, he saw Yan Ci walking out of the building, carrying a brown handbag and wearing transparent strap high heels.

She was dressed in a white blouse and a blue fishtail pencil skirt, her legs smooth and white. Her outfit perfectly highlighted her great figure.

Seeing Lin Yi’s Alphard, Yan Ci gracefully got in, bringing a pleasant fragrance with her. Sitting in the passenger seat, she created a perfect curve that was quite tempting.

“Are you trying to outshine your cousin by dressing so beautifully?”

“Since I’m going out with President Lin, I need to dress well to avoid embarrassing you… Hmm? What happened to your hand?”
