Chapter 2017: I’m Confident of Dealing With Him

“Actually, we are quite well-matched,” Lin Yi said with a smile.

“If it were someone with your build, I could finish you off in less than a night. So, you don’t need to worry about me.”

Hearing Lin Yi’s words, Yan Ci almost burst out laughing.

Meanwhile, the woman in the red dress looked extremely displeased.

“Young man, watch your mouth. I’m in this industry too. Don’t think that just because you’re clinging to her, you can rest easy. If I want to, you won’t be able to survive in the entertainment industry!”

Lin Yi shrugged. “Do I need to survive? I have someone earning money for me.”

“You!”

The woman in the red dress was so angry she couldn’t speak. She grabbed the man beside her and stormed off.

Yan Ci stood there, laughing so hard she bent over.

“You’re unbeatable with that mouth of yours. Taking you out was a wise choice.”

“Who was that woman? She looks like trouble.”

“Her name is Chen Ya, and she’s the general manager of Yunshang Entertainment. We’re both in the same industry,” Yan Ci said.

“But it seems like she has a grudge against you. What’s the story?”

“Sort of.” Yan Ci brushed her hair aside.

“Do you remember the movie I shot last year?”

“Yes, I remember. I even booked two screenings when it premiered,” Lin Yi said.

“That movie had a budget of 80 million, and the box office grossed 1.3 billion. It also won three awards. At the same time, her company released a similar movie with a budget of 380 million. It made less than 800 million at the box office, barely covering costs after splitting the earnings. It didn’t win any awards and got a lot of bad reviews. Since then, we’ve been at odds.”

“They say competitors are enemies. Seems to be true.” Lin Yi mused.

“But she does seem to know you well.”

“Know me?” Yan Ci asked, puzzled.

“She said you could exhaust a bull in one night. I think she’s quite accurate.”

Yan Ci was stunned for a moment, then her face turned red. Her delicate hand instinctively reached for the soft flesh at Lin Yi’s waist.

“Keep talking nonsense, and I’ll pinch you to death.”

“Alright, alright, I won’t say it anymore. We’ll talk about it tonight.”

Yan Ci gave Lin Yi a playful glare and urged him.

“Hurry up and pick something.”

“Let’s go.”

They moved to the men’s section, and Yan Ci focused on picking clothes for Lin Yi, forgetting about Chen Ya.

For her, choosing clothes for her beloved man was a happy task.

“I think that white polo shirt looks nice. Pair it with those dark green cropped pants, and you’ll look great.”

“Alright, I’ll take that set.”

Then, Yan Ci picked out a pair of leather shoes to complete the outfit and handed everything to Lin Yi, who went into the fitting room.

Yan Ci used the spare time to browse other areas, planning to help Lin Yi choose a gift, thus saving some time.

After a few minutes, Yan Ci selected a platinum jade bracelet with diamond embellishments. It was elegant and perfect as a gift.

Meanwhile, Chen Ya and the man beside her stood by, her chest heaving in anger.

In reality, the man next to Chen Ya wasn’t her boyfriend, but a young gigolo named Liu Jianyan, a fitness coach.

They had hooked up because of his good looks and skills in bed.

This relationship had been ongoing for over six months, and Chen Ya’s husband was completely unaware.

“Are you useless? Didn’t you see me being humiliated? You didn’t even say a word. What’s the use of having you around?”

“Chen, you know I’m not good with words. If you’re upset, I can teach him a lesson for you,” Liu Jianyan offered.

“Teach him a lesson?” Chen Ya was furious. “Do you think Yan Ci is easy to deal with? If you dare touch that pretty boy, she won’t let it go.”

“That’s easy. I just won’t let her find out.”

“What do you mean?”

Liu Jianyan smiled.

“The guy went into the fitting room to change. I can go in and beat him up, then we can leave quietly. Even if Yan Ci knew it was us, she wouldn’t have proof. If I deny it, she can’t do anything to us.”

Chen Ya’s eyes lit up. This seemed like a good plan.

“Alright, go ahead,” Chen Ya said.

“But remember, don’t go too far. Just teach him a lesson so he knows to behave in front of me.”

“Don’t worry, Chen. This small matter is easy for me. I’ll handle it perfectly.”

With that, Liu Jianyan picked up a piece of clothing and headed to the fitting rooms.

Since there weren’t many people in the store, the area was empty. Two fitting rooms were locked, so Liu Jianyan couldn’t tell where Lin Yi was and waited outside.

Soon, one fitting room door opened, and a middle-aged woman walked out with a new outfit, looking displeased with her choice.

With only one door still closed, Liu Jianyan knew Lin Yi was inside. He stood by the door, waiting for him to come out.

After a few minutes, the door opened, and Lin Yi was about to step out when Liu Jianyan pushed him back inside and locked the door.

Lin Yi didn’t panic. Instead, he found the situation amusing.

“What are you doing?”

“Playing dumb?” Liu Jianyan sneered, not taking Lin Yi seriously.

He assumed Lin Yi was a weakling he could easily handle.

“You disrespected Chen Ya. I have time now, so let’s talk.”

Lin Yi, holding back laughter, questioned him.

“What do you want to talk about?”

“I’m giving you a chance. Go out and apologize to Chen Ya, and I’ll let this go. Otherwise, you know what’ll happen.”

“You look pretty intimidating. Are you planning to fight me?”

Liu Jianyan cracked his joints, making a series of popping sounds.

“You got it. I’ll give you three seconds to decide. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”

“You’re confident you can handle me?”

Liu Jianyan was momentarily stunned, not expecting Lin Yi to ask such a stupid question.

“I’ve been in the fitness industry for five or six years. Taking care of you is child’s play. Do you doubt my abilities?”
