Chapter 2011: Going Against Master Lin Is Courting Death

Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation

“You better watch yourselves. Just because you have some dirty money and opened a bar, you think you can ignore everyone else.”

The blonde man said, looking at Lin Yi.

“If you don’t know my boss’s identity, go ask your dads. If you upset him, you won’t be able to handle the consequences!”

Wham!

Lin Yi lifted his leg and kicked the blonde man.

Although he didn’t use much force, the man was still sent flying, crashing into the coffee table behind him, shattering it to pieces.

“Ha, what a joke,” Lin Yi chuckled.

“I won’t call the police then. I’ll call Wang Shuguang right now and see how tough he really is.”

“Damn it…”

The blonde man grimaced in pain as he got up from the floor, sneering.

“Just you wait. I’ll call my boss right now. You’ll regret this!”

…

The Fengjiang Pavilion Hotel in Zhonghai was an ultra five-star hotel.

In terms of scale and class, it was among the top in Zhonghai.

In a private room on the sixth floor, there was a table over three meters in diameter, laden with a variety of delicious dishes.

Just from the ingredients alone, one could tell they weren’t cheap.

Two men sat at the table.

One was elderly, around sixty, with graying temples and an air of calm authority. This was Wei Yihua, the boss of Zhonghai’s underworld.

But now, as he aged, he had little interest in managing affairs and was gradually retreating from the scene, beginning his journey to legitimacy.

The man sitting next to him was much younger, about forty, with a stern expression and an air of menace.

His hanging eyebrows, arm scar, and three-fingered left hand were enough to make anyone shudder.

This was Bai Yongshou, a notorious figure in Zhonghai.

As they say, the new generation replaces the old.

In Zhonghai’s underworld, there was never a shortage of ambitious individuals.

After Lin Yi dealt with Wang Mazi, Wei Yihua emerged.

Now that Wei Yihua was preparing to retire, Bai Yongshou had appeared.

One generation after another, there’s always someone trying to prove themselves.

“Old Bai, is there something you need to discuss with me today?”

Wei Yihua asked, lighting a cigarette halfway through the meal.

“Master Wei, it’s been three shipments in a row that you haven’t gotten involved in. Are you really planning to retire?” Bai Yongshou asked.

“I’m getting old, and my desires have waned,” Wei Yihua replied calmly.

“But in front of you lies the entirety of Zhonghai. As long as you’re in that chair, Zhonghai’s underworld is yours.”

“I really don’t have the energy for those violent affairs anymore. Everyone ages.”

Bai Yongshou paused, seemingly talking to himself.

“Master Wei, if you plan to retire, I’m thinking of taking over some of Zhonghai’s businesses.”

Their meal had lasted over an hour, but it was all a prelude.

Only now did Bai Yongshou reveal his intentions.

He had known Wei Yihua was preparing to retire, so he arranged this dinner to test his attitude.

If he was indeed planning to retire, the future of Zhonghai would be his!

The “business” Bai Yongshou referred to was actually the transfer of power.

Since you’re stepping down, I’ll take your place.

Wei Yihua leaned back in his chair, silent for a few seconds. “Old Bai, you’ve been in this business for over twenty years, right?”

“I started at fourteen, and I’m thirty-nine this year.”

“Twenty-five years…”

Wei Yihua said with some emotion.

“You’re ruthless and smart. Not yet forty, and you’ve achieved so much. There probably won’t be many like you in the future.”

Bai Yongshou said nothing, waiting for Wei Yihua to speak.

He sensed Wei Yihua had something to say.

“But listen to me. Zhonghai is not a good place. Becoming king here is highly unlikely.”

“Unlikely?”

Bai Yongshou’s expression changed. This was the last thing he wanted to hear.

He had worked and endured for many years, only to be told that ruling Zhonghai was impossible.

This result was unacceptable.

It was his long-held belief to rise through his own efforts. He wouldn’t let anyone shatter that!

“To be honest,” Wei Yihua said, sipping his tea.

“I’ve always been just a figurehead. Saying I control everything in Zhonghai is an exaggeration.”

He paused, then continued.

“As long as Master Lin is in charge, everyone must behave. That includes me, and it will include you in the future.”

“Master Lin…”

Bai Yongshou muttered, “The Master Lin who’s as influential as half of Zhonghai?”

“That’s right, that Master Lin,” Wei Yihua said.

“We’ve known each other for many years and worked together many times without issues. I consider you one of us, so I’m telling you this. Stay as you are. Zhonghai will never be mine, nor will it be yours. It will always belong to Master Lin.”

Bai Yongshou’s expression darkened.

This had been his long-planned move, and it was now obstructed. Naturally, he wasn’t pleased.

It was like a kid saving up for a long-desired toy, only to have your parents refuse and take your money.

Bai Yongshou felt that frustration acutely.

“Master Wei, you know that even if I don’t take over, many others are waiting. Someone will stand up to him.”

“I also believe that someone will stand up and resist him.”

“I know that.”

“Can’t that someone be me?”

Wei Yihua paused, then his expression softened.

“You really don’t want to give up?”

“I’ve waited so long for this day. I won’t give up,” Bai Yongshou said, a fierce light in his eyes.

“I don’t care if he’s Master Lin or Master Li. If he dares oppose me, I’ll drag him down!”

“You have your plans and your path. Since you’ve decided, I won’t say more.”

Wei Yihua extinguished his cigarette, wiped his mouth, and stood up.

“I have other matters to attend to. I’ll leave now.”

“Master Wei, let me see you out.”

“No need, carry on.”

Without the airs of a gangster boss, Wei Yihua left the private room with his men and returned to his Rolls-Royce.

“Master Wei, you seem upset,” his assistant said.

“I was planning to retire, but that young fool Bai Yongshou, with his newfound fame, wants to challenge Master Lin. I reckon he’s not far from being crushed.”
