I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week

Chapter 1244: Qin Yingyueʼs Protection

The bespectacled man awkwardly retracted his hand and said with a smile,

“Of course. Take care, President Shen.”

Shen Shuyi turned around and said to the waiter,

“Let’s go in.”

“Alright, please follow me.”

Under the guidance of the waiter, the three of them entered the VIP room.

There were two in each shop. Although they were not often used, they would rather be kept empty than open to the public.

“Can you call your manager over?” Shen Shuyi asked.

“Alright, please wait a moment.”

The waitress did not ask why. Since the VIP guest had made such a request, she just had to do as she was told.

Soon, the manager of the restaurant arrived at the private room.

“Hello, President Shen. I’m the manager of this Guangdong Haihui branch. Welcome to our shop.”

Shen Shuyi nodded with a smile and looked at Lin Yi.

“I have a chef here who wants him to cook a few dishes. Can I borrow your kitchen?”

“Of course. That’s not a problem.”

As a manager, he knew very well the types of identity these people with membership cards had in Huaxia.

Although this request was a little over the top, he did not have the right to refuse.

“It’s time for you to show your skills,” Shen Shuyi looked at Lin Yi and said.

“What do you want to eat? I’ll prepare it now.”

“Kung Pao chicken, white cut chicken, and baked lobster with soup. You can prepare these three things first. 1’11 order the rest of the side dishes from the menu.”

“Alright, I’ll go to the kitchen to check it out.”

“Okay.”

Under the manager’s lead, Lin Yi went to the kitchen.

“Master Wang, put aside your work for now. 1 have something to tell you.”

The tour manager called out. A middle-aged man in his forties put down his utensils and walked towards Lin Yi and the other man.

The middle-aged man’s name was Wang Jincai, and he was the head chef of this restaurant.

“What is it?” n𝓸𝗏𝚎.𝓵𝑏-1n

“This young man here was brought by one of our members at the restaurant. He’d like to use the kitchen to prepare a few dishes. I thought I’d let you know.” “Cooking? This isn’t a place for you to practice.”

If it was an ordinary person who made such a request, Wang Jincai would have scolded them back.

However, since the other party was a member of the shop, it was different.

There weren’t many people in Yanjing who had a membership card, so he couldn’t afford to offend them.

However, this kitchen had been under his command for a long time. A stranger suddenly asking to cook here disreputed the established rules, so he had to indirectly decline

“It’s not just for practice. I heard from a customer that this guy’s culinary skills are pretty good, so I wanted him to showcase his talent. That’s why I brought him here.”

“Even if his skills are good, they are probably at a home-cooked level and may not be up to our standards. How about you go back and tell them that I’ll take care of the cooking? 1’11 put in the effort, and I guarantee they’ll be satisfied with the food.”

Chefs had their own rules and were very territorial.

Without the chef’s permission, no one would be allowed to cook here.

“I really can’t do anything about this. The customer has already made such a request. Do I dare to refuse?” The manager said with a bitter smile.

He also understood what Wang Jincai meant, but since the matter had come to this point, no one could do anything about it.

Wang Jincai frowned and looked at Lin Yi again.

“Alright, he can cook here.”

“Then I’ll leave it to you.”

“Sure.”

After giving instructions, the manager turned around and left.

Wang Jincai looked at Lin Yi and said.

“What dish do you want to make? I’ll get someone to prepare them for you.”

“Kung Pao chicken, white cut chicken, baked lobster with soup.”

It had to be said that Shen Shuyi pays a lot of attention to her health. Although these were all meat-based dishes, they are low in fat, making them suitable for eating during a diet.

“Go and prepare the ingredients,” Wang Jincai said to his disciple.

However, he did not seem to be overly agitated. He looked like he was waiting to watch a good show.

The people below were very efficient. In a few minutes, they had prepared all the necessary ingredients.

Lin Yi rolled up his sleeves, prepared the wok, heated the oil, and then added scallions, garlic, and dried chili peppers to the wok to saute them.

“Wait a minute, how are you making these dishes? Don’t you know Kung Pao chicken needs to be deep fried?”

“Yours is the latest method. The most traditional way doesn’t require deep frying.”

“Huh? Are you saying you are going for a more authentic taste?”

“This is an old tradition of Yanjing. You guys are running a restaurant in Yanjing, and yet you don’t even know this?”

“No one has ever found fault with my Kung Pao Chicken,” Wang Jincai said confidently.

The disciples behind him were also laughing as they cooked, as if they were mocking Lin Yi’s ignorance.

His master was someone who had won the bronze award in the Chef King Competition. Who was this young man to point fingers at him?

“That’s because you’ve never met a picky diner.”

At the same time, the scallions, garlic, and dried chili in the pot were stir-fried. Lin Yi placed the sliced chicken breast into the pot and stir-fried everything together. He added cucumber, carrot, and peanuts and continued to cook them.

His skillful cooking skills shocked everyone in the kitchen.

This didn’t seem like a newbie. He was quite skilled.

After about half a minute, Lin Yi started mixing the soup. In the end, he cooked it all in the pot and heated it up.

In the end, he added a dash of vinegar and the dish was completed.

Seeing the Kung Pao chicken that Lin Yi prepared, which was not only visually appealing but also aromatic and delicious, everyone in the kitchen exchanged glances.

Not to mention the taste, just the appearance alone was very appetizing.

“Stop looking, you can try it with chopsticks,” Lin Yi said to Wang Jincai.

“Then 1 won’t stand on ceremony with you.”

Wang Jincai took a bite with his chopsticks and his eyes lit up.

“Sour, sweet, spicy, and salty. The taste is clearly layered. The flesh it not overcooked nor dry. The spiciness is just right. This taste is really good.” “How is it compared to your cooking?”

“It’s indeed better than mine. It contains that traditional Yanjing flavor.” Wang Jincai looked at Lin Yi and smiled awkwardly.

“Young man, where did you learn your skills? I’ve been working for more than 20 years, but my skills are not as good as yours.”

“I’m completely self-taught. 1 can’t say that I’m very skilled. I just have some talent.”

“If you can cook so well despite being self-taught, then your talent is amazing.”

Wang Jincai smiled apologetically and said, “Come, come, come. There are two more dishes to go. Show them to me as well so that I can learn your techniques.”

“Sure thing.”

Lin Yi was cooking in the kitchen, and Shen Shuyi and Qin Yingyue were chatting in the private room.

“You’re too much. You should have just asked for one. Why did you order three dishes?” Qin Yingyue said.

“Aren’t these all your favorite dishes? Let him show his skills.”

“But he’s been selling fruits all afternoon. He mustbe exhausted.”

“Fortunately, you haven’t been by his side for all this time. Otherwise, you would have spoiled him,” Shen Shuyi said.

“What’s so tiring about cooking three dishes? Besides, he’s your son. Isn’t it natural for a man to cook for his mother? He has to suffer through it even if he’s tired..”
