“That’s impossible!”

Liu Hong immediately rejected Lin Yi, “1 handed in the ore after I brought it back. Although I’m the director of the Central Guards Brigade’s battle division, I don’t know where it is stored. I can’t help you even if I wanted to.”

“Don’t worry, since something so serious has happened, the Central Guards Brigade will definitely be responsible and see this through.”

“That won’t be necessary.”

With that, Lin Yi stood up and walked out.

Outside, the sky darkened. Brilliant stars twinkled in the sky, and the moonlight shone on the ground. It was quiet and cold.

Lin Yi took out his phone and called Liang Ruoxu.

“Weren’t you traveling in Sunrise Land? Why are you calling me?” Liang Ruoxu asked with a smile.

“Do you have Lu Beichen’s number?”

“Huh?”

Liang Ruoxu’s tone became serious. “Why do you need Elder Lu’s phone number?”

“It’s a personal matter. Give it to me if you have it.”

There was silence on the other end of the phone. A few seconds later, Liang Ruoxu spoke.

“I don’t have his number, but give me a few minutes and 1’11 call you back.”

“Do it as soon as possible.”

“Got it.”

Liang Ruoxu hung up, but Lin Yi didn’t go back. He sat by the flower bed in the base and waited quietly.

Seconds and minutes passed. About ten minutes later, he received a WeChat message from Liang Ruoxu.

It was a landline number.

Before Lin Yi could read the message, Liang Ruoxu called.

“I got Elder Lu’s number from my grandfather, but you should be cautious when calling this number. If it’s not an extremely urgent matter, avoid calling him. The difference in ranks means this is not acceptable. You should understand what 1 mean.”

“I understand. Let’s not talk about it for now.”

Lin Yi hung up and called the number without any hesitation.

Beep, beep, beep…

Beep, beep, beep…

“Hello, who is this?”

The phone rang a few times before it was picked up.

However, the person who answered the phone was a woman. Her voice was kind and kind.

“I’m Lin Yi. I’m looking for Mr. Lu.”

“Wait a minute.”

After about half a minute, footsteps sounded on the other end of the phone.

Immediately after, his voice was heard.

“Why are you looking for me?”

“I want two kilograms of ore for use.”

“Ore?”

His brows furrowed and his tone became heavy.

“What do you need that for?”

Similarly, Lin Yi didn’t hide anything and told him what had happened.

“I thought it was something important. However, that young man has a special status. 1 will instruct someone to handle this matter. You can rest assured.”

“I don’t want this handled officially. I don’t want to take any chances.”

Although the Yamaguchi-gumi was a rogue organization, if all the forces worked together, they would not be inferior to the Liang family.

If they did not have the skills to back it up, they would not have become the number one organization in Sunrise Land.

For this reason, they could not be underestimated.

Secondly, what worried Lin Yi the most was that Eliza from Black Gold Company was also with Yushi Mitsui.

She was even more unreasonable than Yushi Mitsui.

If the officials really intervened, the matter would blow up.

Even if Yushi Mitsui didn’t make a move, Eliza would.

Due to this, the danger would skyrocket.

Moreover, this matter started because of him, so Lin Yi didn’t want to take any risks.

If anything were to happen to Liang Jinming, he would not be able to accept the outcome.

“But do you know what this means?”

“I know. That’s why 1 called you.”

“Ore has extraordinary significance to scientific research. I can’t agree.”

“I’m at the Central Guards Brigade’s training base,” Lin Yi said.

“So? What are you implying?”

“Liu Hong, Qiu Yuluo, and Ning Che are in my hands. Their lives are more important than the two kilograms of ore.”

“Are you threatening me?”

Even through the phone, Lin Yi could feel the coldness emanating from the other party.

This old man, who had never compromised with anyone in his life, released an awe-inspiring aura similar to that of a tiger at this moment. The powerful pressure was still strong even though they were not face-to-face!

“Yes, you can think of it that way,” Lin Yi said softly.

“Heli…”

He snorted coldly. “If you think this would work on me, I wouldn’t be worthy of heading the Central Guards Brigade.”

“I managed to snatch the ore from Black Gold Corporation single-handedly, and I have the means to take it back as well.”

There was a long silence on both sides of the phone.

No one spoke, and you could only hear the sound of steady breathing.

After more than a minute, Lu Beichen said,

“Wait at the Central Guards Brigade. 1’11 get someone to send it over now.”

“Thank you, Elder Lu.”

Yanjing, General Staff Department.

After hanging up, Lu Beichen called the landline and got someone to deliver the two kilograms of ore to Lin Yi.

It took him more than ten minutes for him to explain everything.

Then, he carried the dark-colored Yixing clay pot and slowly returned to the rattan chair.

His house was not small. It was more than a hundred square meters with three bedrooms and a living room.

With his position, he could easily afford to live in a bigger house, but he didn’t. There was only the two of them. If the house was too big, it would feel lonely. Similar to other older people, Lu Beichen’s home also carried a strong sense of nostalgia.

The furniture was old and red, but it was clean and tidy. Standing here, one would feel like they had been transported back to the early days of the Republic of Huaxia.

“Don’t drink so much tea. Hurry up and take the medicine.”

The person who spoke was an old lady with silver hair. She was wearing an ordinary checkered shirt and held a rag in one hand and two capsules in the other. She handed them to Lu Beichen.

The old lady’s name was Song Yuzhen, and she was his wife. She had also served in the Central Guards Brigade back then, but she was not as outstanding as him. For the sake of her family, she had retired very early.

“There’s still a small portion left in the pot, I’ll have it after I finish drinking this. This is Da Hong Pao is from the mother tree on Wuyi Mountain. It only yields a few kilograms of produce a year, so it can’t be wasted.”

“Then don’t drink it. It’s the antidote for the tea.” Song Yuzhen said.

“You’re already in your seventies. Do you still think you’re a young man? Hurry up and get better. That’s more important than anything.”

“Look at you, you really don’t have any foresight at all. Can those few pills compare to my Da Hong Pao? You can take them later.”

“No matter how ignorant I am, I still gave birth to a son and a daughter for you.

Don’t tell me that it counts for nothing. Hurry up and eat. Otherwise, I’ll call your granddaughter.”

“Alright, alright, 1’11 eat now.”

He put down the teapot and reluctantly ate the medicine. Then, he returned to the rattan chair. With the teapot in his hand, he closed his eyes and listened to the Peking Opera.

Song Yuzhen was wiping the dust off the table with a cloth.

“Earlier, 1 picked up the phone.. Did the person who called say his name was

Lin Yi?”
