I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week

Chapter 1241: Without a Trace

”He has a top-secret identity!”

Upon hearing this, their heads buzzed and they couldnʼt help but shiver.

If this person called Zhang Baotian didnʼt stop them and tell him about these things, they might have gone over and dealt with this matter strictly.

However, if they really did this, something might have happened to them.

”Comrade, thank you. If you didnʼt tell us this, there would have been trouble.”

”Itʼs not a big deal, you guys donʼt have to be so thankful. That Lin Yi guy didnʼt do anything wrong, but you guys can ask him what happened.”

”Alright, letʼs go over and take a look first. This is Wangfujing Street. If anything happens, we have to deal with it swiftly”

”Alright, you guys go ahead.”

The two police officers drove towards the scene of the crime.

Chen Li and Wang Yan were excited to see the police.

Now that the police were here, someone would help them.

”Police comrades, youʼre finally here.”

”Who just called the police?” The taller cop asked.

”Me, me,” Chen Li said.

Seeing Chen Li covered in blood, the police officer said expressionlessly,

”Tell me what happened first.”

”His fruits are sold for 3,000 yuan for 500 grams. This is clearly a scam!”

”Selling 3,000 yuan for 500 grams is a scam?” The tall policeman asked.

”Those luxury clothes and jewelry can easily be sold for hundreds of thousands of yuan. Is this considered fraud too?”

”Luxury goods are naturally expensive. How can it be called fraud?” Chen Li felt that this question was a little funny.

”Why canʼt his fruits be sold at a higher price if luxury goods can be sold at a higher price?” The policeman asked.

”Or do you think that foreign goods can be sold at an expensive price, but domestic goods canʼt? Why donʼt you say that a bottle of mineral water that costs a few hundred yuan is expensive? Why donʼt you say that a pair of chopsticks that costs more than 2,000 yuan is expensive? Others sell fruits that cost 3,000 yuan, yet you say that itʼs expensive? What kind of mentality is this?”

Chen Li was rebuked by the police and did not say a word. He looked embarrassed.

This was completely different from what they had expected.

Normally, after an incident like this, he should have been taken away.

”Then look at how he hit me. The bridge of my nose is about to break.”

The police officer turned around and looked at Lin Yi, his expression much better.

”Why did you hit him?”

”They ate my fruits and didnʼt want to pay. Not only did they get someone to try to attack me, but they also smashed my fruit stall. I hit them out of self-defense.”

After Lin Yi finished speaking, the police officer looked at Chen Li. ”Do you have anything to say?”

”Well…”

Chen Li didnʼt know what to say, because this was the reality of the situation.

”But he hit someone!”

”This was in self-defense. Is he supposed to wait for you to beat him up?” The police officer said.

”Also, you smashed someoneʼs fruit stall. This is considered disrupting public order. Not only do you have to pay the compensation and a fine, but you also have to bear the corresponding criminal punishment. Come with us!”

”Ah?!”

Everyone was stunned. They were the ones who called the police, so why were they arrested in the end?

”Officer, are you sure youʼre not mistaken? Weʼre the victims here. Did you see how my partner and I were hit? Arenʼt you going to do anything about it?”

”How am I supposed to handle this? What did he do wrong? Tell me.

”If you didnʼt make the first move, would he have hit you?”

”But…”

”There are no buts. If you have anything to say, say it back at the police station with me. Get in the car!”

Facing the unyielding police, Chen Li, Wang Yan, and the others didnʼt dare to make a sound. They got into the police car with sad faces.

”Have you calculated your losses?” The policeman looked at Lin Yi and asked.

”Itʼs about 60 pounds, so a total of 180,000 yuan.”

”Leave me a card number. Iʼll notify their families to pay the damages and transfer the money to your card.”

”Sorry for the trouble.”

”Itʼs okay. Itʼs what we should do,” the cop said.

”Later, weʼll inform the nearby cleaners to clean this place up. You can continue operating your stall.”

”Thank you so much.”

After a simple discussion, the police got into the car and left.

This dramatic scene confused the surrounding onlookers.

Even if the fruit seller was not wrong, the police officer should deal with him since he had beaten the other party up.

Why did he just let it be?

However, the matter had already been settled, and no one was willing to pay any further attention to this matter. Thus, they all dispersed and did not stay for long.

Not long after, the cleaners near Wangfujing Street came to clean up the scene.

Lin Yi stood at the side and understood what was going on.

Under normal circumstances, even if he did not do anything wrong, he would still have to be taken back to the station for a statement. Lu Beichen probably used his authority to help him out.

For more than an hour after the incident, no one came to inquire about the fruits because they all knew that something had happened there. Moreover, the fruits were sold at a high price, so they had no interest in them.

Even so, ultimately, this was Wangfujing Street, which had a constant flow of people coming and going. Soon, this news was overshadowed.

One after another, people came to ask about the price of fruits.

However, after hearing the price of 3,000 yuan for 500 grams, they frowned and left, labeling Lin Yi as a lunatic.

As a result, more than three hours had passed, but Lin Yi had not sold a single pound of fruit.

He felt that this place was much worse than Tangchen First Class.

This was the difference between quality and quantity.

Although Wangfujing Street had a lot of people, they came from all walks of life.

Although there were some rich people, most of them were still ordinary people. Their purchasing power was very weak.

This was unlike Tangchen First Class, where rich people lived and bought a few pounds of fruit without batting an eyelid. The same was not possible here.

Fortunately, the 180,000 yuan compensation had been transferred over. It could be considered the biggest gain of the day.

As long as he sold about 100,000 more yuan worth of fruit, this stage of the mission would be completed.

However, it might be a little difficult to sell that much fruit in a place like Wangfujing Street.

He had to change locations tomorrow.

”How much do you sell these fruits for?”

Just as Lin Yi was playing games to kill time, he heard someone asking for the price, but he didnʼt take it seriously and continued playing his game.

This was because almost everyone in the afternoon was like this. They would leave after hearing the price without any intention of buying.

”3,000 yuan for 500g.”

”Huh? 3,000 yuan for 500g? Are you sure you didnʼt misspeak?”

The person who spoke was a valiant-looking woman. Her hair was not long, reaching her shoulders.

She was very tall and was at least 1.75 meters tall. She had a good-looking oval face and exquisite facial features.

Beside her stood two men holding more than ten luxury bags of various sizes. They had clearly just returned from shopping.

”You didnʼt mishear. Itʼs 3,000 yuan for 500g. If you want to buy some, Iʼll weigh it for you now. If you donʼt want to buy it, donʼt touch it.”
