Chapter 603 - 603 Center of Attention

603 Center of Attention

“You still want to continue shopping?”

“Don’t you want to shop anymore? Do you want to go home?”

“I’m not in a hurry to go back, but I feel that there’s no point in staying here. Why don’t we take a walk outside the school?”

“There’s a snack street outside the school. Didn’t we shop there yesterday?”

!!
“We’ve already seen enough of that. Look outside the school gate. There is ‘Seven Days’ hotel on the opposite side. 100 meters to the left is ‘Like Home’. 50 meters to the right is ‘Greenhotel’. 80 meters to the right is ‘Han Court’. These are all famous historical sites near the university city. If we don’t visit them now, won’t we be wasting this golden opportunity?”

“You just can’t tamper your lust, can you? You keep wanting to drag me to that kind of place.” Ji Qingyan walked forward without looking back. “Anyway, I’m not going. I think it’s pretty nice to be on campus.”

Lin Yi had no choice but to follow Ji Qingyan around the campus.

However, at this moment, a cry of surprise broke the silence.

“Boss?”

Lin Yi and Ji Qingyan turned around and saw five or six people standing behind them.

A few of them were repeat customers of the shop.

Zhao Yuetong, Tong Fei, and Li Chang.

However, there were a few boys following behind them. Lin Yi had some impression of them.

One of them was Tong Fei’s boyfriend, Liu Jiyuan.

The others were Feng Shiyu and the others who had gone to look for Zhao Yuetong yesterday.

This was how university life was like. When you didn’t take down a girl, you would usually move out as a dormitory unit.

Seeing Lin Yi, the girls walked over.

“Boss, is this lady your girlfriend?”

“Yes, the shop is closed, so I came here to look around,” Lin Yi smiled and replied.

“Hello, Miss.”

The girls had seen Ji Qingyan before and had long guessed their identities.

They were a perfect match.

“Hello.” Ji Qingyan greeted them with a smile.

“Boss, you guys haven’t been to our school before, right? Do you want to come inside?” Zhao Yuetong invited.

“Little Tong, why did you invite them? Let’s continue shopping,” Feng Shiyu said.

“It’s my business. If you don’t like it, you can go somewhere else.”

Feng Shiyu fell silent after being rebuked.

His resentment towards Lin Yi deepened.

If it weren’t for him, he and Little Tong would have already gotten together.

“Then… then let’s go together.”

Ji Qingyan did not want to go with anyone else. It would disturb her and Lin Yi’s private time.

However, since the other party had already taken the initiative to suggest this, it wouldn’t be good to reject them so directly. Thus, they could only walk around together.

Li Chang chuckled. “Boss, you’ve been popular on our school’s forum over the past few days. More and more people know about you now. Business should be good today, right?”

“It’s indeed a little better. Thank you.”

“Don’t worry about it, it was my pleasure. It’s mainly because your family’s food is too delicious. Although it’s a little expensive, it’s not bad to eat it once in a while.”

“Please come again next time.” Ji Qingyan smiled, grateful for their support.

She strolled all the way to the basketball court and saw many boys sweating profusely.

“If I remember correctly, you should know how to play basketball, right?”

“What do you mean ‘should’? I’ve already mastered such childish things.”

“Boss knows how to play basketball?” Li Chang was surprised.

“Who doesn’t know such a simple thing?”

“Boss, you’re too amazing. Not only are you good-looking, but you also know how to cook and play basketball. Can you be any more perfect?”

“Be careful, your sister is here.”

“Hehe…” The three girls laughed. “But he’s indeed very good. I like boys who play basketball the most.”

“Isn’t that great? Basketball is my forte,” Feng Shiyu said.

“I like boys who play basketball like the boss, no one else.”

Feng Shiyu was speechless. He was obviously bragging in front of his girlfriend. How could she believe that?

“Lin Yi, let’s go to the basketball court.” Ji Qingyan held Lin Yi’s hand and said with a smile.

“I like boys who play basketball, too.”

“Really? Why haven’t I heard you mention it before?”

“I’m afraid you wouldn’t know how to play and it’d hurt your pride.”

“Then let’s go and take a look.”

Ji Qingyan and Zhao Yuetong’s appearance made everyone on the court stop what they were doing.

Although basketball was fun, it was not as attractive as beautiful women.

Not to mention such a beautiful girl.

“Brother Feng is here to torture noobs again.”

Seeing Feng Shiyu and the others arrive, the people from the basketball court took the initiative to greet them.

In Zhonghai Institute of Technology, Feng Shiyu, a member of the school team, could be considered an influential figure. Almost everyone knew who he was.

Once he arrived on the basketball court, he would almost always torture the noobs, so he did not come here often. He felt that this was boring and so often went to other schools to find stronger opponents to play with.

“There’s someone here who says he knows how to play basketball and came to play a bit.”

Everyone’s gaze landed on Lin Yi.

This was because this person was a little unfamiliar. They had never seen him before.

“Perfect. Let’s play together.” As he spoke, the boy handed over the basketball.

“Forget it. I’m just here for a walk. I don’t have that much time.”

“Hey, don’t stress. We’re all Brother Feng’s friends. Don’t stand on ceremony.”

Lin Yi took the basketball with a smile and handed it to Ji Qingyan. “Do you want to try?”

“I really can’t play well. Sports isn’t my strong suit.”

“Just give it a try. We have nothing to do anyway.”

“Hehe, I’ll try.”

Ji Qingyan held the basketball in her hand and walked over to shoot the ball. Then, she used all her strength to push the ball. The ball barely flew over her head, and that was it…

“That’s it?”

“Err… that’s all I’m capable of…” she replied sheepishly.

“Aren’t you usually quite strong when you pinch me?”

“That’s different. The way you exert force is different,” Ji Qingyan whispered. “If there’s a competition that focuses on pinching people, then I might rank first.”

“Okay, let’s change the subject.”

Ji Qingyan grinned as she tugged at Lin Yi’s arm. “Come on, try a three-pointer. Don’t embarrass yourself.”

“It’s a piece of cake. I can close my eyes and score it.”

Feng Shiyu and the others secretly despised him.

What was he bragging about?

That was a basket, not a goal. Do you think you can just throw it in so easily?

Swoosh!

A three-pointer was easily scored.

“Not bad.” She gave him a thumbs up.

However, Feng Shijie and the others were a little surprised. Did his bluff pay off?

“One more, one more,” Ji Qingyan said eagerly.

She enjoyed the feeling of Lin Yi being the center of attention. She felt proud.

“It’s just a three-pointer. Don’t you find it boring?”

“What’s there to tire of? It’s already very impressive to be able to score from this range,” Ji Qingyan said contentedly.

Lin Yi’s shooting posture was perfect, and his athletic ability was also very good.

When she had a child in the future, he could make up for her unathletic genes.

‘Huh?’

Why did she think of such a shameful thing?

This time, Lin Yi stood further away, “I’ll score another one for you.”

“Yes, yes. Best of luck.”

“Isn’t it a little pretentious to stand so far away?” Liu Jiyuan said, “You might not even be able to touch the basket.”

“I also feel that he is acting tough,” Feng Shiyu said.

“Are you guys jealous?” Tong Fei asked.

“It’s not jealousy. It’s impossible,” Feng Shiyu said.

“Look at where he’s standing. He’s almost in the middle of the court. Does he think he’s a professional athlete? Amateurs don’t have such strong arms. I don’t think he can even touch the basket.”

“That’s right, this is not human,” Liu Jiyuan said.

Feng Shiyu crossed his arms in front of his chest and gloated, “If it can go in, I’ll eat the basketball.”

Swoosh!

The basketball drew a perfect arc in the air and entered the net.

“F*ck!”

“So accurate!”

The basketball court was filled with exclamations.

He scored two consecutive shots with such perfect posture. It was obvious that he had practiced it before!

“Brother Yu, this is a little awkward,” Liu Jiyuan said.

“Didn’t the boss say that he eat basketball if this guy scored?” Li Chang said.

“Well…” Feng Shiyu looked embarrassed. “I was just blabbering. Besides, what’s the big deal about knowing how to shoot? Ordinary people can improve their accuracy with a little practice. The most important thing is how you play basketball.”

“The boss is so accurate. You might not even be a match for him in an actual match. Don’t slander him here,” Zhao Yuetong said.

Although Lin Yi had a girlfriend, it didn’t affect the mood of these fangirls.

“Little Tong, it’s a little embarrassing for you to say that. I’m not the best, but I am one of the ranked basketball players in Zhonghai. Won’t it be a breeze for me to beat him?”

“That’s not necessarily true. Don’t brag.”

“Little Tong, how about this? I’ll fight him one-on-one later. If I win, you’ll have to give me another chance, okay?”

“And if you lose?”

“I won’t lose.”

“Don’t be so confident,” Zhao Yuetong said. “If you lose, you can’t pester me anymore.”

“Haha, no problem. Don’t go back on your word.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t regret it even if I die.”

“Little Tong, do you really like Feng Shiyu?” Li Chang whispered.

“I used to have a good impression of him, but after what happened yesterday, I feel that he’s not a good person. He doesn’t even know basic respect. A boy like him is unreliable.”

“If you don’t like him, why did you give him a chance?”

“When did I give him a chance?” Zhao Yuetong said.

“Didn’t you say that if he beats the boss in a one-on-one battle, you’d give him a chance? Doesn’t that mean that you’ve tacitly agreed?”

“But the boss is very accurate. His skills are definitely not bad.”

“You’re really stupid. Even someone like me who fails every year knows that an actual match and a shooting competition are two different things. Why don’t you know this?”

“Is the difference between the two that great?”

“Of course.” Li Chang said.

“The boss might know how to play basketball, but Feng Shiyu is on the school team. It’s not a fair comparison at all.”

Hearing Li Chang’s words, Zhao Yuetong realized the seriousness of the problem and quietly pulled Tong Fei to the side.

“Feifei, who do you think will win between the boss and Feng Shiyu?”

“Needless to say, it’ll be Feng Shiyu. It’s obvious.”

Tong Fei smiled ambiguously and nudged Zhao Yuetong with his elbow. “Did you regret rejecting Feng Shiyu after seeing the boss’s girlfriend? If you regret it, just say it. It’s not a big deal. There’s no need to use such a method to cover it up.”

“Of course not,” Zhao Yuetong said.

Only then did she realize that she had been a little naive earlier.

“Feng Shiyu, I regret it. What I said just now didn’t count.”

“Doesn’t count?” Feng Shiyu said.

“You just said that you won’t go back on your word even if you die. If you want to deny it, you’re automatically saying that he lost. At that point, I’ll feel no sense of accomplishment in beating him. Others will even say that I’m bullying him.”

Zhao Yuetong stopped talking. She felt like she had sold herself out.

“Little Tong, I think you should take things as they come.” Li Chang comforted her.

“Perhaps God wants the two of you to be together. If you can’t resist, just enjoy it silently.”

“But I don’t want it to be like this,” Zhao Yuetong said unhappily. “If I had known this would happen, I definitely wouldn’t have made a bet with him.”

“But now that things have come to this, it’s useless for you to regret it.” Li Chang shrugged and said.

“You can only hope the boss wins.”

“Then do you think the boss has a chance of winning?”

“If you sleep now, he might have a chance in your dreams.”

“Then it’s over,” Zhao Yuetong said dejectedly.

Lin Yi and Ji Qingyan did not hear their conversation as they continued to cuddle.

“Lin Yi, you’re too good. I didn’t know you were so good at basketball before this.”

“I was a basketball teacher at Normal University. Have you forgotten about this?”

“At that time, I thought that you were just being glib-tongued. I didn’t know that you were so amazing. Hehe…”

Ji Qingyan’s expression was like that of a thief.

“Look at the men around you. They’re all looking at you enviously. One look and you can tell that they’re not as good as you.”

“Stop praising me. If you continue praising me, I’ll feel like I’m in heaven.”

“You’re amazing.” Ji Qingyan nudged Lin Yi.

“Go and do something even more difficult. Let them be envious for a while longer.”

“The ball I threw just now was already very difficult.”

“Is there no better way to shoot?” Ji Qingyan asked. “I want to see the envy in their eyes.”

“Then I’ll show you a stunt that will shock the entire audience. I guarantee that you’ve never seen it in real life.”

“Sure, sure.”

“Wait here.”

“Dude!”

Seeing Lin Yi walk away from the three-point line, Feng Shiyu stopped him.

“What’s up?”

“Shooting is so boring. Why don’t the two of us play for seven balls?”

“I just want to shoot a few baskets and leave. If I play basketball, I will definitely sweat.”

“Your athletic ability can’t be that bad, right? It’s just seven balls. You can finish the battle in a few minutes.”

“Alright, I haven’t played in a long time. I’ll play a match with you later.” Lin Yi said indifferently.

“Later?”

“My girlfriend wants to see me perform. We’ll fight after I’m done.”

“Alright, you can go ahead first.” Feng Shiyu was not in a hurry.

“Brother Yu, aren’t you going to take this opportunity to warm up?” Liu Jiyuan said.

“Why would I need to warm up to beat him? I probably won’t even sweat after playing the seven balls.”

“You’re right. The gap between the two of you is indeed sizeable.”

Zhao Yuetong secretly sighed. She was already regretting her decision to death.

At the same time, everyone’s gaze landed on Lin Yi.

He took the basketball and retreated to the middle of the court. No one knew what he was going to do.

“What is he trying to do? Is he going to throw blindly?” Liu Jiyuan asked.

“Maybe. This is a little technical, but there’s a lot of luck involved. If you get it in, you can show off in front of your girlfriend. If you don’t, you can say that you didn’t perform well. In short, he only has one goal. It’s to show off in front of his girlfriend.”

However, at this moment, Lin Yi moved.

He rushed towards the basket with the ball.

“F*ck, what’s this? It’s not a blind throw!” Liu Jiyuan said in surprise.

“Is he going to perform a layup?” Feng Shiyu was dumbfounded.

A three-step layup didn’t have as high a skillcap as a three-pointer. What kind of performance was this?!

Even if your girlfriend doesn’t know basketball, there are so many basketball enthusiasts on the court.

He was really impressed.

This guy didn’t even know how to act cool!

“Wait, damn, he’s jumping from the free throw line. He’s not going for a layup, he’s going for a dunk!”
