Global Arrival: Survival on a Desert Island

Chapter 89 Upgrading the Battleship

Chapter 89 Upgrading the Battleship
[Upgrade or weaken: defense, firepower, will affect some mobility]

[Upgrade or weaken: structure, will affect some defense and maneuverability]

Entering the upgrade interface at the beginning, Lin Feng saw these two prompts.

Then there are five upgrade options mentioned earlier below this.

Lin Feng chose defense to check.

[Hull Copper Plating Upgrade: Consume 5000 Copper Blocks]

[Hull Iron Plating Upgrade: Consume 5000 Iron Blocks]

[Water Tank Copper Plating Upgrade: Consume 3000 Copper Blocks]

……

There are seven defense upgrade options, which are further divided into two upgrade methods: copper plating and iron plating.

And these upgrades will more or less bring additional burdens to the hull.

This can also explain why there are two prompts at the beginning.

But looking at the materials consumed by these upgrades, Lin Feng couldn’t help but feel a little pained, it’s too expensive.

The seven options in the upgrade options can all be upgraded at the same time.

Lin Feng did some calculations, and if he only chose one item and upgraded all of them, he would have to spend [-] yuan in iron or copper.

This is directly equivalent to remodeling a warship, not counting the other four modifications.

If the other four upgrade methods were equally expensive, the transformation of such a warship would cost at least [-] yuan in supplies.

Only then did Lin Feng understand what the phrase 30 years for the army, 50 years for the air force, and [-] years for the navy meant.

The transformation and construction of a battleship is really impossible without a little strength.

Switch interface, transfer upgrade interface to structure.

Here, there are seven more defense options than before, for a total of fourteen.

Different from defense strengthening, there are seven more ways to delete some internal structures of the ship in structural strengthening, which are used to reduce weight and increase the internal space and maneuverability of the ship.

But the cost of the deletion is that the ship’s defense capability is greatly reduced. However, considering the previous defense strengthening, maybe this structural deletion can be included in the upgrade plan?

After a brief review, Lin Feng moved on to the next firepower upgrade.

Among the five functions, this upgrade is the one he cares about most.

How to upgrade the firepower of the battleship?Add more powerful naval guns or add new artillery positions?
Very curious about Lin Feng, he checked the upgrade introduction in front of him.

After reading all the information in front of him, Lin Feng suddenly realized.

It turns out that this is to upgrade the existing weapons of the ship and add new attack methods.

The decks and cabins of battleships have been filled with all kinds of artillery for counterweight and balance at the beginning of design.

Therefore, if you want to upgrade the artillery, you have to upgrade the artillery in the corresponding position layer by layer. Sometimes it may even affect the counterweight and balance issues, so you have to upgrade a few more guns.

In this way, the overall cost of the battleship will go up, so each layer of this kind of battleship is filled with artillery of different calibers.

The gun positions on the lowest level of the battleship are all equipped with the largest caliber guns, and then go up in turn.

There are three types of artillery on the Black Coral, each firing projectiles of different weights.

According to the introduction and unit conversion of the sailors, they are:
14 kg shells, 5 kg shells, 3 kg shells.

This kind of conversion almost corresponds to the three types of 32-pound guns, 12-pound guns, and 6-pound guns of the Blue Star Great Navigation Era.

Among the upgrade options at the shipyard are two upgrades for the artillery.

[-]. Lightweight, reducing the weight of the artillery, improving flexibility and rate of fire.

But the price is reduced range and lethality.

[-]. Upgrade the rifling of the artillery, increase the range, and modify the firing mode and ammunition at the same time.

Change the ignition launch to flintlock launch, and add a new type of bomb - grenade.

The first modification method can greatly improve the load-carrying capacity of the warship.

There are 64 artillery pieces, 32 of which are similar to 32-pound artillery pieces. One such naval gun is as high as two and a half tons, and 32 pieces weigh [-] tons.

In a place where every inch of land is precious on a battleship, the carryable weight is also very critical.

The second way of upgrading makes Lin Feng even more excited, but if he chooses this way of development, there is a big problem.

What should he do with the grenade?
The core of the grenade is gunpowder, but now the question is where he can get the gunpowder.

The deployment of black powder is very simple, and anyone who has taken a little class can know it.

One sulfur, two nitrates, and three charcoals. He has saltpeter and charcoal, but where can he get sulfur?
Take a step back and use the ammunition that comes with the two warships.

But the gunpowder of the two battleships is only a little over a ton, and this thing is used for a little less, and there is no place to replenish it.

It seems that he will not be able to choose the job of upgrading the artillery for a while.

With some regret, go check out the two upgrade options below.

The function list is to expand and upgrade some extra rooms and some extra equipment in the ship to increase comfort and functionality.

In the mobile upgrade, it is the lightweight upgrade of the ship, the optimization of the sail and other operations.

Now that the five functions have all been read, Lin Feng has also thought and calculated various upgrades.

After all, the cost of refitting a battleship is not cheap, so if you want to use the least amount of resources to build the most suitable warship, you will have to make careful calculations.

”Defense and structure are complementary. In theory, all upgrades on the two lines should improve a lot of mobility...”

”In this case, the cost will be... [-] pieces of iron, [-] pieces of copper, and [-] pieces of wood. Well...acceptable”

’In the case of artillery... Both options can be upgraded at the same time, why not upgrade the lightweight first? ’

’In terms of functionality and maneuverability... replace the sails, add a breaker, optimize the new cabin...’

Looking at the option of upgrading in the maneuver, Lin Feng suddenly thought of something.

The warehouse at the bottom of the ship is generally used to store goods and increase the weight of the battleship.

For him, this area of the battleship is completely useless, because all the items can be included in his backpack.

In this way, this piece of space may be able to develop into other aspects.

After thinking for a while, Lin Feng decided to delete one-third of this part of the warehouse, and add a water-proof layer and a sailor’s lounge.

In this way, functional and mobile upgrade materials require [-] wood, [-] iron blocks, [-] copper blocks, and [-] plant fibers
After a period of calculation, the entire cost requires [-] resources, which is not a small amount for Lin Feng.

However, after considering that the capabilities of the warship could be greatly improved, Lin Feng still decided to spend this resource for upgrading.

Check all the required upgrade lines, and then select Upgrade.

With the delivery of [-] resources, a new prompt appeared in the upgrade interface.

[Upgrade items: 26 items]

【Upgrade time: 5 days (the more participants, the faster the upgrade speed)】

five days...

This time is not too long, and if there are still people involved in the upgrade, it can reduce the time.

The participation of hundreds of people should be able to complete the upgrade within two days.

After arranging the upgrade of the battleship, Lin Feng took Hai Xing and Shi Yi who were waiting at the door back to the barracks to teach the language work of the personal guards.
