Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1247: The Truth of Volos

A dreary silence ensued in the vicinity as Morpheus stood frozen. The voice that resounded in his head introduced itself as a sinister being called the God of Darkness.

“What nonsense is this? How can there be another god in this world?!” exclaimed Morpheus in denial.

The timing right after he defeated the final boss didn’t help at all. Besides, the God of Darkness seemed to be linked to this tower.

“Are you the one who created this tower?” asked Morpheus as he looked around the final floor, trying to locate the so-called God.

[No. I merely brought it out before its premeditated due time. Your world was not yet ready to face it with such restrictions on ranks.

It would have eventually shown up in the future. But I was in a hurry.] responded the grim voice.

“What?! So you’re the bastard who put our country in danger? For what?! he asked curtly this time.

[Know that it’s not just Volos. I have brought forth these towers in different worlds as well.

To find suitable candidates across many worlds that had a similar situation as yours.] explained the God of Darkness.

[Listen to me, child. The main reason why I’m here is that this world is inhabited by humans. The only species that, for some reason, has what I require at the moment.

And this world, Volos… is a variant of Vantrea, my home world.] iterated God of Darkness in an authoritative tone.

“Lies! There is no such world. Calling yourself a god… while you’re just some demon like those from the other dimension. A lot of your kind shows up in these towers and dungeons.

Though you’re different from those monsters from the dimensional rifts… you’re all but still enemies of humanity.” rebuked Morpheus firmly.

“Our world was created by Goddess Vasudhara, who also created the universe, and Volos was named after her son.” he spoke the universal knowledge.

[Ah… looks like I can’t convince you of the truth just with words alone.

Then let me show it to you.] spoke the voice.

RIPPLE!

CRACK!!

SHATTER!!

The reality tore itself down, and a massive void crack formed around Morpheus as the entire tower itself shook.

Woosh!

Suddenly, a massive skeletal hand appeared out of this void crack and grabbed Morpheus.

“Ahh!!” groaned the man as he helplessly tried to struggle.

But to no avail, he was quickly dragged inside the crack, and soon, his vision turned dark.

The next time Morpheus opened his eyes… the entire scenario around him changed.

Morpheus turned his head around and quickly saw a limitless being sitting on a throne that spanned for thousands of kilometers, but appeared so far yet felt as if it was just a few hundred meters away from him.

As for being sitting on the throne, with bone-like fleshly hands, a dark red set of glowing eyes under the black hood, and chains worn around the obsidian armor it wore…

It was the God of Darkness.

******************

“Welcome… to my Eternal Abyss.” spoke the God of Darkness.

Morpheus felt all the strength leave his body, as well as the feeling of death and near doom wash over his mind.

He could no longer breathe or even feel anything, as if his body was never alive.

The sensation of taste, the air on the skin, or even the weight of his own body felt nonexistent to him at this moment.

Morpheus also looked around him and found billions of corpses, beings as far as 50 kilometers tall, lying on the ground while being tortured.

He saw an Elder Dragon being flagellated by thorny chains by invisible hands and a Basilisk being drowned in magma again and again, only to be healed afterwards to perfect health and repeat the cycle.

He saw an Archangel, hung from a pillar, and his entire body stabbed by multiple spears, as it revealed an expression of sheer terror.

On his left, he saw demonic creatures, beings that would be considered myths and titanic figures that were as tall as 100 kilometers.

Yet all these nigh mighty beings were being tortured to death in an endless cycle, with nothing but helplessness marred all over their countenance.

“Do not mind them. All of them deserved to be here.” iterated the God of Darkness.

“Also, do not worry. This is not the real Eternal Abyss. But a mere projection I’ve created within that tower.

You still remain within Volos.” informed the God of Darkness.

This was the ultimate truth. Because Morpheus would have instantly died if it were the real one.

“Now that you have seen me. I shall divulge to you another truth.

The truth behind your world.” spoke G.O.D. in a grim tone.

******************

Morpheus listened with bated breath. He was no longer in a capacity to rebuke the G.O.D. after everything he saw so far.

He was convinced that this God was just as real as he was, and what he could do was far beyond the capabilities of some Tower boss.

“This Volos you speak of indeed existed, but this goddess Vasudhara… You don’t know the truth.” said the God with a sinister voice.

“Volos is the true creator god of this planet. There are 3 more planets like yours that were created by him.

But this Goddess Vasudhara… is not his mother.” he stated calmly while sitting majestically on his throne.

“What?!” said Morpheus.

“Volos had died more than a century ago. He was killed by none other than Vasudhara, who is an Outer God.” revealed God of Darkness.

Morpheus was astounded. This was an unexpected revelation to him.

“What’s an ‘Outer God’?” he asked curiously.

“Celestial beings that invade other universes and take over them by killing their creator gods.

As a matter of fact, this Goddess you speak of… isn’t even a Goddess like the statues portray it.” stated God of Darkness in a firm tone, and soon, he waved his hand.

The scenario suddenly changed, and they were now in outer space, where Morpheus could see the entire Volos in the distance.

“To your people, it is invisible, and your technology is not advanced enough to sense its existence.

However, it has been hovering around your world all this time.” said God of Darkness and snapped his bony fingers.

SNAP!

And finally, Morpheus saw its true form as it became visible slowly.

A spatial monstrous being that was twice the size of the entire planet. It had multiple arms similar to an Octopus, thousands of eyes, and a face similar to a demonic being.

Multiple protrusions from the face, a slightly demonic scaly body, but a long tail instead of legs.

Its body itself was not of flesh and blood but entirely made with nothing but a chaotic energy that resembled the same as from the monsters from another world.

At this moment, Morpheus realized that despite all the suffering he had gone through since that horrifying night of the monster invasion, where his parents died…

His entire life was fucking useless.
