Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1213: The Beckoning Call

Kahn proudly declared himself as a being akin to a God in his true Cosmic Form. In many ways, it could be interpreted as him being a narcissist who was drunk on his power.

Yet no one thought so because there was very little anyone could use to counter the argument in his statement. A literal thousand-kilometer-tall entity had every right to pose itself as a God as far as their belief was concerned.

And most importantly, it was the strongest saints in the Abyss Empire who had kept their mouths shut while those weaker than them could only watch with a stupefied countenance.

Flick!

Flick!

One after another, Kahn’s massive form started flickering as new copies of himself kept spreading from his body, and in mere 10 seconds, the original one completely disappeared.

Now, the entire sky was covered by these thousands of Kahns, each one of the exact height and aura as the original one.

The 3500+ kilometer span of the capital Naraka was literally filled under the feet of their deity-like being, who looked over them as if staring at a line of ants.

Even Calavanius was shaking in his boots while the 7th-stage saints from all factions felt completely overwhelmed and helpless against Kahn’s tyrannical presence in the sky.

”Can you tell which one of us is real?” asked the Kahn from the closest position as his voice reverberated in the entire capital Naraka.

It didn’t matter where any citizen of the capital stood. All of them saw at least hundreds of Cosmic Kahn hovering above their heads as if he had replaced the sky itself.

Even the tallest buildings in Naraka were toe-level at best in front of this Cosmic Kahn.

BLIP!

BLIP!

In mere seconds, all of the copies suddenly disappeared as if all of this was an illusion.

Crack!

A thousand-kilometer-tall void crack erupted, and the original Cosmic Kahn came out of it with a content smile.

”That... it was a dimensional teleportation!” shouted Calavanius, his left bionic eye enlarging with shock.

It surprised the witnesses even more through the broadcast because it meant that Kahn could instantly teleport anywhere, and his reach was at least 3 thousand kilometers.

Who could even land a hit on an enemy like this? If this were an ongoing war... Kahn could simply eradicate an entire army of the enemy empire just by using his powers and instantly teleporting to another front.

He could ambush all the unaware enemies and move on in seconds until there were no enemies left alive.

Too powerful!

Kahn was simply too powerful to be even allowed to use this power against their enemies. Because a being like that could massacre hundreds of millions of people in mere minutes.

”Some of you may be wondering if I’m already this strong... why don’t I fight the Great War myself?” said Kahn with a stern expression, his thundering voice echoing like a sign of an arriving calamity.

”The truth is that as strong as I may be... I’m only one person. I can not be present everywhere. I cannot foresee the enemies coming from our exposed barriers when I’m on the other end of the empire.

And even with my unparalleled power... I’m not enough,” he spoke in an authoritative tone.

”I am not without flaws and limitations. I am not an omniscient god. And even someone like me is not capable enough to fight a greater entity like the Demon God yet.

That is why, people of the Abyss Empire... I, the Hero of Darkness and the Supreme Leader of the Great War... cannot do this without you,” he spoke in an earnest tone while slightly bowing his head.

”You have a strength that you haven’t realized yet. You are not just some weak or expendable soldiers to me.

No, you are the real heroes who will fight with their lives on stake when even I cannot be present to fight our enemies.

It’s not even about the numbers at all... It’s about the spirit that flows in your body and soul.

To seek justice and revenge for your motherland and ancestors... that is the spirit passed down to you from generation after generation through your bloodline.

That is something I can never even come close to achieving,” he stated with a respectful tone.

”It does not matter whether you’re a member of the cult, the imperials or the government... You are first and foremost... the children of the Abyss Empire.

An unmatched and unending fervor flows through your veins. It demands that all your debts from the past and the present be paid through blood and vindication.

Consider it as the tithe you will be offering to your ancestors and your god.

So join me without any worries as we collectively shape the future and the legacy of your motherland,” said with an emotional tone and continued with a serious voice...

”Because I need you.”

******************

Why did Kahn say ’I need you’ to the people of the Abyss Empire right after showing how unfathomably powerful he was?

From the start-up to this moment, not a single thing done or spoken by Kahn during this event... not a single thing was without its own use and timing.

How would you feel when an almighty being akin to a God lowers his tone, and says in an earnest and respectful tone that he, of all people in the world... needs you?

”You are not without meaning or purpose.” iterated Kah as he properly bowed his head.

His act of bowing, witnessed by billions, quickly became a significant moment of this entire ceremony.

Because the Hero of Darkness was no longer just talking about leadership or how they had a cause to fight in the Great War.

It was the beckoning call.

That no matter how little or insignificant their contribution was in the upcoming war...

Their participation, in any shape or form, actually mattered and would not go unappreciated.

That even if one did not directly slay their enemies on the battlefield... just showing up was worthy of gratitude.

This was no longer about a great cause or even their lineage. No... it was simply a personal consciousness about how people perceived themselves.

Would they risk danger and be part of the great crusade, or just use some kind of excuse to avoid participation?

This dialogue united them at an intimate level and as a collective group, regardless of which faction they belonged to or served in the war to come.

Kahn was calling out their own free will, not some obligation or belief in revenge.

What kind of path would all of them choose would decide their own self-worth in the eyes of not the outside world or the society... but themselves as a living being with a soul.

People looked around themselves, locking eyes with each other, but spoke not a single word.

They knew the answer they had come to through their own free will. That they were ready...

For the Final Reckoning.
