Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1237: Man or Monster?

At this point, all the remaining gunmen knew better to gather around and cover all directions instead of getting picked off one by one.

They had their own coms to respond and relay commands, so all of them left their positions and gathered in the central area of the warehouse, an open ground which also covered all directions and limited an enemy’s options to attack them.

Unless someone had a bazooka, they couldn’t decimate all of them together.

Bang!

However... instead of running and hiding like before, Morpheus made his presence known as he jumped down from the ceiling beams and faced them openly.

”Who the hell are you, fucker?! Did that bitch’s father send you here?!” asked one of the guards.

”Who am I should not matter to you lot since none of you will live for long.” replied Morpheus and charged brazenly.

His speed was accelerated beyond humanly possible, and he ran towards a guy who was shooting at Morpheus with an MR16 assault rifle as Morpheus simply dodged while three different versions of him, all but a mirage, appeared and walked side by side as they slipped the aim while sidestepping and walked towards the man.

Before the goon could reload, Morpheus’ left arm turned into a massive curved blade with razor-sharp cuts on it, and just as the man finally reloaded the magazine...

Slash!

Both of his legs were instantly slashed. But even before he fell onto the floor...

Slash!

Slash!

Morpheus instantly swung his blade twice and cut his torso in half and beheading him instantly.

What others saw was him cutting a grown man into multiple pieces within just a second.

Following the dissection, four more enemies rushed at him together.

They did not have any firearms on them, so they chose close-quarters combat.

[Overclocked Physique!]

The very next second, Morpheus’ physical strength, defense, and agility rose by 50% as he used an A-rank skill to buff himself.

He activated the Titanium Arms again and charged into the incoming group like a ferocious rhino.

BANG!

Crack!

Shattered!

Morpheus rummaged through them like a wrecking ram.

His right elbow crushed his throat. His knee snapped the other guy’s rib cage, and his left hand grabbed the third man’s arm, just to bend it the wrong way.

”ARHHH!!”

”UGHH!!”

Quickly, three of them were incapacitated.

[Breath Lock!]

As for the last guy, Morpheus launched a swift finger technique and hit the man in his throat with just two fingers.

But in mere seconds, his body dropped on the floor, choking in his own blood.

All of this happened in mere 5 seconds, and the tide had already turned.

Morpheus’ pitch-black longcoat suddenly started coalescing a dark red aura around him, and soon, a black fog was expelled from his body.

Morpehus now had glowing red eyes as his hair fluttered and his nails turned black and long like knives.

His entire persona now gave off an aura of a monster instead of a human.

”Is that?...” spoke one of the guards with a shocked countenance.

”A vampire?”

******************

Morpheus, who no longer looked like a human... had used a skill that temporarily gave him the transformation and abilities of a vampire.

He did not dwaddle and marched towards the next henchman, who brandished his military knife and took a defensive stance.

This time, Morpheus’ speed was 3 times faster, and like an arrow shot from a bow, he lunged towards the man, grabbed his head with his left palm, jumped high in the air, and slammed him on a large wooden crate just behind the man.

In just a couple of seconds, the man’s skull was burst open and his head filled with splinters from the crate.

The gory scene shook the others to their core, and from the opposite end, another man threw a machete at Morpheus.

But just as soon as it reached a meter close to his head... the time almost stopped.

Morpheus gazed at the slowed machete as his hypersenses made him inhumanly fast, as he saw his own reflection in the blade.

He had dodged the blade, but it did not fall on the floor.

”What?!” exclaimed the man in disbelief because the machete...

It was in between Morpheus’ teeth.

Swoosh!

Before they could even react, Morpheus grabbed the machete and threw it back and instantly killing the mercenary as the machete stabbed into the latter’s forehead.

But his focus shifted to the enemy on his left, who also charged at him.

Morpheus tilted his head and body, grabbed the man’s left arm, and yanked him to the floor.

The man tried to get up, and as he raised his head...

PUNCH!!

Morpheus punched him so hard that the goon’s head caved in the floor, instantly turning into mush.

No pause. No breath taken.

Morbius... I mean, Morpheus was both relentless and ruthless.

******************

At this point, 90% of the mercenary force was taken down by Morpheus.

If they knew that this simple job was going to turn into their biggest nightmare, none of them would have dared to accept it in the first place.

”Get that bastard!” shouted one of the remaining men and threw a grenade at Morpheus.

The time slowed again for Morpheus as the grenade arcs toward him.

He caught it mid-air and threw it back at the man.

BOOM!!

The shrapnel flew everywhere, and the upper body of the man was spread all over the floor.

Morpheus remained unaffected as the shield from before had finished the cooldown.

Next, he saw a few more people finally coming out to finish the job off.

The sonar resonance told him that now, other than these 4 who just came out... There was only one person left inside with the hostage.

”Dammit! What the fuck is happening outside?! This was supposed to be a simple snatch and release job.

The client didn’t mention anything about a hunter coming to rescue the target.” spoke the leader of the operation.

Meanwhile, outside the room, a fierce battle ensued.

A frantic confrontation that would decide the final victor.
