Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1207: The Strongest Deterrence

Not only did Kahn establish himself as the undisputed and unrivaled powerhouse in front of the eyes of the real Abyss Empire during his welcome ceremony as the Cult Leader of the Darkbornes... he, out of nowhere, introduced a nigh invincible mighty being that shook the cores of the entire population just by its ginormous size.

Even the small flaps of the Royal Dragon’s wings created strong gusts of wind that made many flying ships in the air lose their balance, while even the Saints had to use their aura just to maintain their standing while protecting their respective legions and forces.

Thud!

Thud!

Vildred’s titanic forearms dropped on a platform Kahn’s Apostle of War form created using his Earth Elemental skill. Yet the shockwaves sent tremors in the headquarters despite not being directly connected to the ground below.

Both Kahn and Vildred, in all of their enormity, stood proudly in front of all the attendees below and the rest of the Abyss Empire watching through the broadcasts.

Rumble!

It was then, the terrifyingly humongous dragon spoke...

”This great one is called Vildred Xyvsor Gown Ivrar Mortelix, the former emperor and the one titled as the Lightning Dragon Emperor of the Dragon Empire,” said the royal dragon.

The moment he spoke, the sky was filled with thousands of lightning bolts, each one enough to raze a city to ashes. The flashes and the echoing thunder sent shivers down all of their bodies, most unable to even move a muscle due to sheer terror.

Even the Chapter Masters, the most battle-hardened warriors of the empire, could only maintain their gaze and look at the regal and awe-inspiring personage of the mighty Lightning Dragon Emperor.

”Before any among you wonder if this is a reality or an illusion... let me clarify one thing,” spoke Vildred, his maw full of thousands of razor-sharp gigantic teeth, threatening everyone just with their appearance.

”I do not serve your God!” declared Vildred, without even a single shred of worry.

”I hate all the gods and their chosen heroes equally. Had the circumstances been different... I would have preferred to burn down every single monument, building, and even billions of you who worship the God of Darkness,” announced the royal dragon in a defiant tone.

”A single use of my dragonfire or my innumerable lighting bolts is more than enough to decimate this entire headquarters if I willed so.

We dragons have always abhorred and fought against the Gods, their believers, and everything they stand for throughout history.

And I shan’t be an exception to that heritage passed down to us for hundreds of millions of years before all of your species even came to be,” spoke the dragon emperor both arrogantly and with hostility.

Vidred himself was now comparable to an Intermediate 8th-stage saint in terms of raw power because of his dragon heritage. So his saint pressure was also far more powerful than Kahn in his Apostle of War form.

BOOM!

BANG!!

Rumble!

Over a hundred lightning bolts dropped from the sky, their ear-deafening sounds and the shockwaves created sent shivers down everyone’s spine.

However, they instantly disappeared before actually touching anything, showing that Vildred was controlling his powers and did not wish to kill them all.

This was a pure display of absolute and uncontested strength that no one could even come close to surviving, regardless of how strong they were.

And there were no exceptions to this feeling of helplessness, even among the intermediate 7th-stage saints.

”However... the only reason I shall constrain my unparalleled might, instead of exterminating all of you... Is that I have made a pact with your Hero of Darkness,” iterated Vildred as his massive eyes, emanating crackling lighting, glowed brightly.

”Kahn Salvatore and this mighty one has what you might call a ’life debt’.” he iterated in an authoritative tone.

”And to honor our pact... I shall not only join the Great War for the first time in the 2,000 years of my life, but also protect the Abyss Empire in case the Hero of Darkness is fighting on a faraway battlefront.

Even if a bunch of Chosen Heroes of other Gods and Goddesses attack the Abyss Empire in his absence, this great figure of the transcended Dragon lineage shall crush them under my claws.” declared Vildred with a deep yet very serious voice.

One after another, the Dragon Emperor was dropping bombs on everyone with his revelations.

Every sentence and even its order were prepared beforehand. And even the haughty as well as purely disrespectful words chosen by Vildred were curated with a purpose.

First, Vildred actively used a threatening tone as he revealed that he hated the God of Darkness, his worshippers, and should be destroying everything in his sight as per the history between Dragons and the empires that served the Gods since the immemorial era.

Instead of an ally, contrary to Kahn’s introduction, Vildred presented himself as a great threat to their entire existence.

The dragon emperor alienated himself from the whole Cult of Darkborne as well as the Abyss Empire as an entity of great power.

And afterwards, he intentionally mentioned his pact with Kahn, calling it even a ’life debt’ deliberately to insinuate that dispute his misgiving and indignation... he was willing to ally with them solely because of the man called Kahn Salvatore.

At this moment, neither of them had disclosed their relationship as Master and Disciple to anyone purposefully.

One, because it would not give anyone leverage in the future to make any demands or pleas of Vildred.

Two, because it would make them feel grateful that a powerhouse like him was actually on their side, making even the other saints from opposing factions feel overwhelmed.

Three, later in the political warfare that was imminent... Vildred’s presence alone could be used as a radical tool that could not be tied to the Cult of Darkborne in case the Imperial Faction or the Senate of the Republic chose to betray them or intentionally caused a ruckus during the Great War.

He presented himself as a separate entity that was getting involved and could be proven as the most powerful ace under their sleeves, only because he had an understanding with Kahn, the Hero of Darkness.

Kahn had already proved himself as the undisputed and strongest saint among them; proving both his eligibility and strength at the same time.

It was already very hard for the other factions to defy his authority, but after Vildred showed up... his existence was just to make it impossible for them to even think about it.

On the surface, their leaders had a choice to take a different stance. But after both Kahn and Vildred stood united as a team to lead them in the Great War... there was no room for even a shred of resistance.

The Lighting Dragon Emperor was both the strongest weapon...

And the strongest deterrent.
