Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1208: The Surprise Gift

The Lightning Dragon Emperor beckoned with his roar and established himself as the strongest ally, powerhouse, and deterrence in front of the eyes of the 3.64 billion citizens of the Abyss Empire that watched this ceremony zealously. Not only did it shock the masses, but all the influential factions, authority figures, and top echelons of the empire were simply hit with bewilderment.

Why?

But not only the Hero of Darkness was already an overpowered entity who could not be controlled, rivaled, or ostracized by any of the opposing factions due to his unparalleled strength and uncontested skills that made him undefeatable... the entity called Vildred Mortelix, a literal Royal Dragon, showed up behind him as his ally and backer.

The dragon didn’t even bother to use a diplomatic tone or offer friendly alliance... no, he straight up told them that he was a threat that should be their mortal enemy; an enemy they had no way to win against.

Yet, only because of the man called Kahn Salvatore, he would not only constrain himself but also fight at the battlefront and even protect the Abyss Empire in times of need. This proclamation made him the strongest and the most terrifying force present in the Abyss Empire, akin to a completely new force entering the paradigm of power struggle within their nation.

With so many surprises and overbearing displays of strength... all their previous plans and schemes basically drowned in the deep sea, never to be brought up again if they wished to live.

And lastly... what did the existence of both Kahn and Vildred mean for their future?

It was a simple but certain truth... that the Great War was unavoidable under the lead of the Hero of Darkness and the Cult of Darkborne.

******************

After 10 minutes of discussion among themselves, all the people in the surroundings had finally managed to calm their hearts and minds. This was already too much to take, regardless of whether one was just a normal citizen or part of the upper society.

The Great War was inevitably going to affect their lives in one way or another. Hence, Kahn, as the Hero of Darkness, was a key figure, and his competency could decide the fate of billions of lives.

With this display of power and authority, there was nothing else left to question.

Dhang!

Dhang!

Suddenly, the war drums echoed in the surroundings as Kahn reverted his Apostle of War form and became a human again. Vildred, on the other hand, took his humanoid form of a regal sage, standing proudly beside Kahn while emanating the aura of royalty and peerlessness.

Many people from all factions were surprised because most had no knowledge that dragons could take human forms as well, and despite his diminished stature, Vildred’s aura hadn’t reduced one bit as he placed his scepter on the floor of the spherical platform.

Step!

Step!

It was then, Morrigan walked in front of them both and addressed the people of the Abyss Empire.

”Heed my words carefully. Whether one belongs to the Cult of Darkborne or not, whether they do not agree with our culture and traditional values, the Great War is inevitable. And we would require your contribution and participation if you wish to live beyond the next 20 years or so.

Because once the Demon God reaches the Demi-God rank... everything and everyone that stands in your sight; will be destroyed and die.

There won’t be any exceptions to this rule, even if we stay in this sealed realm. Because once the original Vantrea ceases to exist, all the realms attached to it, including our empire, will simply disappear from the world.

And that is why we must fight the Great War even if it risks another carnage that was faced by our ancestors over 3 centuries ago.

We are not only fighting for our God, but also the fate of our children, our heritage, our future, and most importantly... our legacy.” declared the High Priestess with a stern voice.

Her words instantly garnered attention and focused everyone’s minds.

”What you just saw was already enough to ensure that our Cult Leader, the Hero of Darkness, is far beyond capable of leading us and fighting for us. And Lord Vildred, who was also the former Emperor of the Dragon Empire, will be joining our cause even if his allegiance lies with only the Hero of Darkness.

With both of them heralding our forces, no one can actually pose a threat to the Abyss Empire once we enter the real world.

And if any of you still have your misgivings or doubts... There is someone who would like to talk with all of you.” spoke the succubus saintess and nodded at Kahn.

It was then, Kahn summoned a 10 cm statue of a human in black clothes.

”People of the Abyss Empire and all those who worship the God of Darkness... I have reclaimed a legacy left by your ancestors in the real world.

Something they had no other choice but to leave behind so that I, the future Hero of Darkness, could complete my Divine Key Awakening ritual even if the Abyss Empire didn’t exist.

And their sacrifice was not in vain, as I went to the previous Abyss Empire before coming here. And there, I found the most prized relic and also the testament of the power of the almighty God of Darkness.

During our journey... We came across an entity that is one of the most important figures in the entire world. An entity who completes the cycle of life and death.” spoke Kahn loudly, and his firm tone garnered the attention of everyone present.

”People of the Abyss Empire, I present to you...”

BOOM!!!

The statue suddenly burst with an aura of death and darkness, completely turning the sky pitch-black and releasing an incomprehensibly powerful pressure that surpassed everything that came before.

If Kahn and Vildred’s aura was considered unrivaled within their respective ranks... that was the aura of death that surpassed everything in the world.

Soon, the sky was filled with dark clouds and roaring thunder. The blue lightning bolts raged above while the ground beneath trembled as a looming sense of dread was etched in everyone’s soul.

A massive ethereal human figure, partially transparent like a ghost, standing 10 kilometers high in the sky, became visible for everyone to see as Kahn loudly introduced this ginormous spectre...

”Jeoseung Saja, the Envoy of Death!!”
