Hero of Darkness

Chapter 1204: A Face to the Myth

At the heart of the headquarters of the Cult of Darkborne, Kahn declared his bellowing decree, which sent goosebumps not only across the people of Naraka but also the entire Abyss Empire that witnessed it through different locations.

And why did Kahn suddenly act like his sole reason to exist was to protect and lead the Abyss Empire as Hero of Darkness, even though just a month and half ago, he didn’t even know it still existed?

Because Kahn was taking advantage of the prophesied stories about the new Hero of Darkness that were told and passed down to all the citizens of the current Abyss Empire for the past three centuries.

At this moment, Kahn was giving a face to the myth that all of them had only heard as children and also passed on to their own children as tradition and culture.

The saga depicted him as a person who carried the weight and destiny to free them from the sealed realm that they had no other choice but to live in.

Although the Abyss Empire could be considered the 2nd largest empire in Vantrea after the Dragon Empire, the sealed empire was also created in its exact image.

People, regardless of their species and place in society, had enough to survive and did not starve to death due to a lack of resources. And since the agricultural lands were protected, the yield every year was plenty enough.

One of the biggest reasons why people weren’t starving, suffered through famine, or lived in extreme poverty was because of the existence of the 3 powerful factions.

Their co-existence always maintained balance, and if one side failed them, the citizens of the empire would naturally side with the other two. And those opposing forces would utilize the momentum to wipe out that one side now hated.

It was purely due to self-preservation that the empire always maintained order and produced enough food and necessary supplies after it was sealed off.

But did it mean that people were content and had no problem living here?

NO!

They had just chosen to ignore the walls and the invisible cage around them. Because they had no means to do anything about it in the first place.

But the legends told them that one day... a chosen hero of the god would come and take them all to the real world where they could bask in the light of the real suns of Vantrea and not the fake one in the sky.

And that sense of hope, defiance, and underlying will to break off the chains that bound their bloodlines for centuries... was a strong emotion that Kahn intended to utilize the moment he made his existence known to everyone.

Now... there was a reason why Kahn used the word ’Leadership’ in his speech.

Because even though he was the promised savior and even the Cult Leader of the Darkbornes... it was still one of the reigning entities of the Abyss Empire.

Naraka had all of their headquarters located, but even the branch headquarters across the Abyss Empire followed a similar structure.

One part of the city was always occupied by one of these three forces, and hence, people of the empire also had their own set of loyalties and allegiances to different forces based on where they lived, worked for or supported based on their personal belifs.

Kahn’s first intention was to make sure that all the netizens felt that he wasn’t going to dedicate himself only to the Cult of Darkborne; but every single one of them, regardless of their factions and forces their lives were involved with.

And as everyone had finally set their eyes on him, with their palpating hearts anticipating his next move... Kahn made another declaration.

”Some of you may be wondering what gives this man the right to lead us?

Some may be reluctant to the fact that a man who doesn’t even have his roots set in the Abyss Empire, gets to act like he is some kind of savior?

Many intelligent people among you must be wondering whether I even had the qualification to lead all of you to the outside world?” spoke Kahn as he let out a few important questions running in the minds of plenty of the citizens.

Instead of avoiding such questions or trying to deflect them, Kahn decided to address them directly, even though he had arrived only 10 minutes ago.

”I may be strong, but I’m only a beginner 7th-stage saint in the end. It’s not like there aren’t any other powerful saints of that rank.

Whether it’s the Cult of Darkborne, the Imperial Faction, and the Senate of the Republic... they all have at least one 7th-stage saint of their own.

Even the High Priestess standing behind us is an intermediate 7th-stage saint, stronger than me at the moment.

So what makes me anything special or gives me more credibility or any kind of authority to declare myself as the man in charge in the upcoming Great War?” said Kahn and raised even more important questions all by himself instead of the leaders of the opposing forces.

As Kahn said those words, his eyes darted towards a certain direction.

This was the pavilion housing the esteemed guests from the Imperial Faction, such as the 3 princes and their generals, as well as the president, the chief ministers, and the commanders of their military forces.

Both sides had one 7th-stage saint amongst them.

”Then let me prove it to you that not only am I capable indeed, but in the future, no one will be able to surpass my strength.

And I will soon be strong enough to protect the Abyss Empire from enemies waiting for us outside as well.” iterated Kahn with an authoritative voice.

His words alerted not just the Doom Templars, the Imperial faction’s saints, and the Senate’s commanding officers... but everyone who saw the broadcast with their eyes.

Words and promises meant nothing in the end if people who are supposed to follow your lead don’t acknowledge or respect you.

Hence, giving them an irrefutable show of confidence and strength was paramount if Kahn needed them to follow his leadership wholeheartedly.

[Are you ready?] asked a familiar voice in Kahn’s head as he looked over the people of the Cult of Darkborne and the Abyss Empire watching him.

[Yes.]

Kahn responded to that voice with a mischievous tone...

[Let’s give them a show of their lifetime.]
